Here comes lockdown again, but not in the MMP!

Howdy Y’all! I survived the first night of Diocesan convention. Go Me! Actually is was pretty good. Listened to some reports, heard the Bishop’s, for lack of better words, “State of The Diocese” speech, got through a bunch of budget stuff, saw some awards be given out, participated in a breakout session that was kinda cool, and ended with Compline, which is Episcopal for bed time prayers. Now 'tis time for ice cream and some Netflix!

Tomorrow mornin’ is vote on stuff time, more reports, and Convention Eucharist.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

I went for a walk and also walked errands. I got a call from the rheumatology center at Swedish wanting to set up an appointment since they got the referral from the eye specialist I saw a week ago. She gave me a spiel about having to cancel 24 hours in advance and how “I overslept” the day of does not keep one from being charged. I told her I’m a former teacher, am very responsible, and have heard every excuse in the book. She said she was a former bailiff. I said, “Oh, so same job!”

Boo, that kind of teacher (which still existed when I started teaching) drove me nuts. I had kids who were taught to use a comma whenever they’d naturally pause. AAARGH! Do you know what that does? It gives kids grammatical hiccups, and they start pausing. At. Every. Word. It’s kind of like asking people to blink when they naturally would: everyone starts blinking more often.

I’ll refrain from giving your sixth grade teacher demerits, since she let you stay in to read at recess.

FCM, those drawers will fill up fast, I bet. My mother’s dictum: No matter how much storage space you get, you’ll fill it up and want more.

Bumba, I used to give my aged pups those tabs. Then a vet recommended some yucca stuff that was made for horses. That REALLY worked. I’ll see if I can find it or recall what it was called. It was locally produced, so not sure it’s still around or available.

One would think. I never liked the service I got at dealerships. I read once that the average mechanic at a dealership has under 2 years’ experience and has less invested in getting the problem correctly diagnosed. I’ve always had better luck with independent mechanics. (NOt that I know squat about cars. I asked people who did where they serviced theirs.)

Nellie, oh, I can totally see what you’re saying! I now tend to believe it, too. I just figured, stupidly, that the people that sold a certain brand of vehicle, would know just about everything about it. I was mistaken. Wow, though.

sari. if I owned my place, I would consider a walk in tub, even though I shower for the most part. I would take a bath more often if I had a tub that allowed water up past my hoo-ha and that was easy to get out of.

Glad you’re still among us hippie. Get out of that ICU ASAP!

nellie, is Awwwwww permissable? :stuck_out_tongue:

bumba , Vinnie is a very handsome dog.

Moooooom, I like the spash of color that your sofa pillows provide.

Irked, came home, managed to get about 20 minutes of dog park time for Nelson before it got dark, did a drive thru at Arby’s for a turkey wrap and sweet potato fries for supper and managed to read most of the MMP without snoozing more than a few minutes. :stuck_out_tongue:

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

It’s a logical assumption. I found out the hard way it wasn’t true. My car had an issue that required diagnostics. I took it to a dealership and was given a loaner, as the issue might take two weeks to diagnose, order parts for, and fix. Three months later, I was still driving the little loaner car, which I loathed, BTW. I had to go to the dealership, talk to the manager, and use my Teaching Freshmen voice to get it fixed.

Nona, good on ya for sticking to it; my Mom was like that in many ways, and often my brother and I were the ones playing your daughter…but I did learn to stick up for myself.

FCM, nice looking set…the furniture I mean…

Bumba, nice pic of Vinnie.

Soccer has been played (we won 2-1) and dinner (Fettuchini Alfredo) has been consumed. Have 4 games to coach tomorrow starting at 8am, so probably head off to bed early tonight.

All y’all take care.

Nellie, wow! Three months?! I’d have totally gone off on them!

MetalMouse, thank you!

Hippie, glad you’re doing ok!

FCM, LOVE the furniture! It looks great!

Bumba, aww! Vinnie is adorable!

Friday night, $10 at Paso del Norte, so… Margaritas. I had about a third of an order of steak/chicken/shrimp fajitas, and Mrs. L.A. ate about a third (or maybe a half!) of a pork burrito the size of her head.

On the drive home she kept telling me to slow down – and we weren’t even in the MG! Each time, I informed her I was doing the speed limit. Why does she always want me to slow down after we’ve had a couple of drinks? The cops look for that!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I finally got around to trying out roasting chickpeas. The process was outlined in a Reddit thread, so I don’t have a recipe per se, but a key suggestion was to slip all the skins off each bean. A bit laborious, but yesterday afternoon was just lovely and it was a good excuse to sit in the sunshine and it’s very meditative work.

The results were crunchy those Corn Nuts you get at gas stations aren’t even so loud! Delicious, too, and I’m told quite healthy due to the fiber content.

I missed this earlier - didn’t want ya to think about was ignoring my favorite Boo!

My former I.T. Guy (a.k.a. my ex boyfriend) is flying me back to Dallas for a couple of days to visit. Not to cause too much pearl-clutching but we’re basically friends with benefits these days. Long distance.

He earns an absolutely stupid amount of money these days, so he can afford to fly me out. Total workaholic (I guess that’s where the money comes from) but he’s taking a couple of days off, and the plan is to lie around & call in decadent amounts of delivery food.

Sounds good to me.

Already told him I want chicken pho. It’s the one takeout dish that is not. available. anywhere. in this little burb, nor in bigger Grand Rapids half an hour away - or at least, not anything good.

Such a simple dish, too - it’s just good chicken broth with sliced meat and some veggie add-ins - but so sublimely delicious. Of course, since I can’t get any, I’ve been craving it for months.

A benefit to be enjoyed and envied. You go girl!

Sounds like an excellent plan. Sort of low impact land cruise.

Oh, wait. You’re talking about soup, aren’t you? :smirk:

Wicked old Boo!, most definately not clutching her pearls

“One of us, one of us. We accept you, one of us.”

Welcome aboard, @Fiendish_Astronaut.

One important term to know around here is TVCTPMO: The Vast Conspiracy to P*** Me Off.

Mine was quite active today. Alleged public transit decided yet again that schedules are optional, which forced a Lyft ride (this is damn near a third of my take-home for the day!). Callers were not heinous, but co-“irkers” filled my aggravation quotient quite diligently. Then, during a grocery stop en route to meet up with DH, I discovered my phone was missing, having apparently fallen out of my pocket (possibly while kneeling to tie a shoe). I could not locate it. Got to DH’s irkplace ten minutes after his shift ended, and he’d already left. Much grumbling and seething as I got back into the transit hellhole. Got off the train in an area where I had hopes of finding a Boost Mobile store to replace my phone (I do not keep things like my debit card in my phone cover, so I did have my wallet, transit fare card, etc.). This did not pan out, and this was not a great area to be hiking around in alone after dark (yes, I had pepper spray and it was in my hand). Found my way to a nicely lit supermarket DH was familiar with that had some distinctive decor outside it, and the very kind gent at the customer service desk allowed use of their phone to contact DH, so I finally got home close to 9pm. On a normal day, we’d have been home before 7.

Turned out DH’s departure was him hunting my phone via a tracker app we have on both of ours, so he did locate and recover my phone, which is now right next to me. The Princess was a tad aggravated by the royal supper being late, but she’ll just have to cope. The featherhead is unperturbed as usual.

Must set up Instacart deliveries, then will probably fold early. Very tired, and was pretty wiped out before all the phone-related drama.

Nettie (hoping I got the nickname right) DH is a spouse in a million! Hang on tight. Now, be extra good to yourself~that sounds like one of my worst nightmare kind of days.

Happy to see Hippie is out of surgery.

Woke up to foggy weather, but supposedly we might get a few hours of sun shine before it rolls back it. It’s actually warmer than it should be, but maybe it’s making up for the colder October.

Went to a friends house for alcohol, sugar and fat (wine, liqueurs, cake and pizza) so today is lots of low calorie liquids. Until lunch, and then it’s mac and cheese, with fusilli (leftovers).

Need to do some more scrubbing on the patio and clean up leaves. I’m just about ready to hibernate until spring or we get a vaccine or the U.S. election is over, whichever comes first.

Bumba, Vinnie’s adorable.

Moooom, the couch looks cozy and the lamps are quite eye-catching.

And nellie, it’s going to take me a while to get used to the new avatar. I know the names, but I use the pictures as the main identifier of the poster.

Have a good Saturday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to sort. It’s my Firday today.

Another woke-at-3AM day. Attempts to fall back to sleep were in vain. So I’m up and breakfasted and I even ordered some lounge-about sweatpants this morning. How’s that for productive?

Daughter and Roxy will be coming over and after we pack lunch and snacks, we’ll head to the zoo. Roxy will have a blast - she recognizes animals but she has no idea of their sizes! Her discoveries will be fun for us, too.

I dread having to drive in DC, tho. I’ve never driven to the zoo - always went via Metro. But we’re not going to do that till plague is over. Plus parking on site will be easier with a toddler - the metro station is a bit of a hike from the zoo entrance.

So that will be my day. Woohoo!!

Happy Saturday!!

Happy Saturday!

Still dark outside, 39 degrees.
I woke up too early so I’m waiting until it’s time to leave.
The city park is open, Lucy’s dad posted it on FB along with a picture of Lucy in the no go zone.
I’m glad Ripple wasn’t the first to breach the new fence.

Surround walls are up, and lfb guy will be out to caulk them or whatever it is that he is doing to make it waterproof. He has to figure out some kind of trim to put around the bottom of the tub, paint the ceiling and walls, and we are done.
I hope.
I think.

Too much to do lately and not enough time to do it, or even think about it.

Happy Zooing FCM, and nice new furniture.

Glad you got your phone back Nettie
If I lose my phone, I lose everything with it.

The dogs are impatient this morning. We’re leaving earlier than we usually do, and yet they still pace around me.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 67 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 79 and maybe rain this afternoon, or not. TWPTB are bein’ willy-nilly again. The big item on today’s agenda is convention this mornin’. That should wrap up around noon. Chillage shall then ensue. I am really impressed with Diocesan staff for all their hard work in settin’ up everything. Very few, really insignificant, glitches. Some folks apparently had problems loggin’ in, or with audio/visual, or with navigation through the site. I am absolutely sure this was a case of PEBCAC rather than on the Diocesan end. I have no idea what sup shall be. We might swipe The General’s sup or just forage.

shoe enjoy your trip! Sounds like it will be a fun and much needed get away.

ace good on you for stickin’ up for yourself at the dealership. Plus you had the opportunity to totally embarrass your daughter in public. Double Win!

MOOOOOOM hope the zoo trip is a fun one for all of y’all. I’m sure RoxStar will have a blast.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I must needs purtify and make myself presentable to convene. I should check the schedule to see if there will be any need to appear on camera. If I do I’ll put on a nice shirt. I’m all couth and classy like that. If not I can just go with a tshirt. Jammie pants of course cause I see no need to stand up in front of the camera.

Happy Sattidy Y’a’ll!

Swampy, thank you. Yes, it was good to embarrass my daughter. Gotta keep her on her toes, you know!

So, good morning, all.

I woke up, sat on the edge of the bed, and tried to open my eyes. It only worked for one of 'em. Crap. Feels like I’ve got something in it. Red. Watery. Sore-ish. At least I can finally open it, now, after about 2 hours of trying. Always something.

I have no idea what is on the agenda, other than a little hovel cleaning, and laundry. I’ve got enough laundry for probably three loads. Ugh. NOT looking forward to it. I’m just thankful that I don’t have to haul 'em down to the creek, and beat 'em on the rocks, is all. That’s what I keep telling myself, anyway.

It’s supposed to get up to 75* and it’ll be a sunny kind of day. Works for me.

Have a pleasant day.

Oh, and if you get the chance to try the Ruffles Jalapeño Ranch chips, do. They’re really tasty.

FCM, the trip to the zoo will be a blast for all involved! Enjoy!
