Moooooom, I hope that you all enjoy the trip to the zoo. I remember my great nephew’s first trip to Grassmere Zoo when he was about that age. He was impressed by the “big kitties” (cougars) and was fascinated by the otters (they were just being adorable, as otters are wont to do).
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and a load of jeans in the wash. Once I get showered and sheveled, a trip to the grocery store is in order. I would like to do the patio/yard work today that I didn’t get done while I was sick. We’ll see about that.
Mornin’ all. Didn’t sleep long enough but gave up and got out of bed after fitfully trying to fall back asleep. I’m guessing today is not going to be at all successful.
Sounds like great fun! I sure hope there will be some Roxstar discovering the beasties pictures for us when you get home. Don’t take this the wrong way but if the grownups aren’t in the pictures, that’s ok.
A dog park pic or two would be lovely too. Hint, hint. Although I know the pups don’t like to hold still long enough. My cats have the zoomies and are too busy knocking things off of piles to pose, plus the Siamese is wandering around meowing pitifully, as if The End Is Near. What she expects me to do about it I do not know. I feel the same way, I’m just not making a circuit of the house yowling about it.
Swampy I want to be one of the first guests when you open up your place as a B &B. I think you should call it Joie de Vivre Cottages~a veranda and biskits for all!
I’ll be back after the coffee takes hold and my outlook improves.
Morning, all. It RAINED! And it will rain some more! We’ve gone 162 days without measureable precipitation, so this is A Big Deal. Off to do some spot grocery shopping in between rain squalls, then general household maintenance all weekend.
FCM - You have to teach Roxy the song. The monkeys stand for honesty Giraffes are insincere And the elephants are kindly but they’re dumb Orangutans are skeptical Of changes in their cages And the zookeeper is very fond of rum
Zebras are reactionaries Antelopes are missionaries Pigeons plot in secrecy And hamsters turn on frequently
Blimey… round here we rarely go 162 minutes without rain… at least that’s what it feels like.
Having a laaaaaazy day, starting with not waking up til after 10. The traffic noise has noticeably dropped today; the last few days it’s been pretty much as normal, despite our supposed ‘lockdown’.
I’ve been crying with relief between answering texts from friends and family. I expect that will be the mode for much of today. It’s been a very long 1,387 days.
BBBoo - not many pics were taken - at least not by me, but I put a couple in FB. We’re home now and I’m beat. It was a beautiful day to be there, and all that fresh air kicked my butt! Daughter and SIL are about to go home and I’m going to chill a bit.
silenus - thanks for the earworm! I used that song as part of a presentation in 10th grade, circa 1969-70.
Sounds like you deserve a little feets-up on your spiffy new couch. Glad you all had a fun Roxy’s roadies day. What were her favorite animals?
I’m fixing to run down to my library (in the car, silly. I haven’t run anywhere for decades) to pick up the Thanksgiving themed book bundle the children’s librarian put together for me to take to Hattie’s for our day together tomorrow. My favorite tax dollars at work.
My housemate gets off work at 5:30pm (she works from home in her big bedroom as a chat operator for gugaboo) and she is hoping I’ll grab our phoned in order from our favorite no msg Chinese place after the library pick up. They are across town from each other but in Nebraska that’s not saying much. This will require combing my hair (meh) and putting on a bra (boo! hiss! grumble). Comb. Bra. Library. Ming’s House. Therein lies greatness.
First off, it wasn’t SIL, it was Roxy - brain fart. Second, she went crazy over the otters (which she sees at the marine museum) but I think the biggest hit was the monkey. There was one right by the glass in front and she squatted down there for the longest time! But believe it or not, there are no giraffes in that zoo! The very idea!!!
I’m pretty sure there are some in Baltimore, so that’s on the list.
Just went for a ride in FCD’s new car. It’s very comfy and very fancy. It’s got seat adjustment memory for 2 drivers - that’ll be really nice.
But I still haven’t decided what to do about supper.
Sounds like you had a good time at the zoo, Mom. I haven’t been to the Portland zoo in years. When I worked in NW Portland years ago Wifey and I used to go up to the zoo after work for concerts. Not big named performers, but good music nontheless, and inexpensive. It’s a very good zoo.
Petite sirloins and baked (in the nukerwave) N.O.T.s, and prolly salad for dinner. Good whiskey after, I think.
It has rained heavily for the last 2 days here, but it’s done for now. Wifey wants to do something about all the leaves that have come down so far, but it’ll just be a stopgap measure.
I now have every confidence that medicare will still be around when It’s time to replace the battery in my pace maker in a little over a year from now.
I achieved attainment of sustenance and nappage. I’ve also worked up a summary of convention stuff to present to the Vestry on Moanday. We are foragin’ for foodstuffs today as neither of us can be bothered to actually cook anything in the way of a meal. There’s also ice cream to be had, so it’s all good.
Hey, @dogbutler, any idea why my Jungle packages so frequently get delivered to my upstairs neighbors? You’d think that if it was just laziness, it would be much more common for me to get their deliveries instead of them getting mine.
Before my kids understood that zoos had more than one animal, they would refuse with all their toddler might, to leave the wonderful animal they were in front of. We finally started to telling them to say “bye bye” to this animal so we could go visit a new one.
I think my ADHD son is squeaking one of the dogs toys. AHHHHHHHHH
nettie, things that get delivered by Prime tend to arrive at the neighbor in the next building with the same ending digits as mine. I always tick not so good on the delivery notification and use wrong address as the reason. For a while, they got better, but now they’re back to leaving it on Dan’s doorstep. If it’s delivered by UPS, FedEx or USPS, it gets to my door. IIRC, doggio irks for Big Brown, so his guys get stuff to my door.
Grocery shopped and took Nelson to the dog park. The Captain cooked supper. I have a minor kitchen chore to take care of and need to fold some clothes after supper, but the rest of the evening will be spent vegetating.
