Here comes lockdown again, but not in the MMP!

Howdy Y’all! It was so nice to go to our favorite Mexican place (OLÈ!) and pig out on steak ‘n shrimp fajitas and have a big ol’ margarita! We went at four this afternoon and I am still feelin’ stuffded. Not much else to report, just wanted to share this. Made me happy!

Supper was hash and scrambled eggs, with Tostitos and pineapple-serrano salsa for dessert. Thinking about bed (still wiped out from yesterday), but Battle Ground is too interesting…

I am up stupid early tomorrow for surgery. I will check back in after the anesthesia wears off

Please let us know when you’re wake and settled in comfortably. And don’t worry, we nurses hardly ever tell what patients say when they are under the effects of anesthesia. Hardly ever…

Locally made pimento cheese spread on toasted bakery French bread and fresh pear, sliced jazz apple and a clementine for dinner. Couch bound watching second season NCIS episodes on Netflix to distract myself from falling down the rabbit hole of agonizing over election results. If it hadn’t happened 20 years ago, this last week would have turned my hair white.

Ice cream may be involved before bedtime…”and miles to go before I sleep”. There is also a bowl of Halloween candy beckoning me from the dining room table. Kit Kats I can resist, Reese’s less so.

Good luck!

Too cute!!! Thanks, I needed a dose of adorable.

Got tagged by a mosquito again tonight (different bus stop this time, at least). It is freaking NOVEMBER! At least I got to splat the little bitch this time.

DH has jury duty tomorrow. Hope his cane won’t be deemed a security issue.

Having a Hungry-Man box o’food for dinner. Seven miles today, over eight-anna-half yesterday.

Had a lovely video chat with a friend and feel somewhat O.K. even though my hours got absolutely axed for next week. (A whole sixteen hours. What the everloving fuck, I mean, really.)

Chillage is about to ensue.

I apologize for the dark tone of my earlier post. This is not an excuse, but in addition to the election news, I was upset about this: Yesterday I posted a digital “I Voted” sticker on FB and commented, “Because we can do better.” It garnered lots of Likes and some nonpartisan comments from liberals and conservatives alike. Then a cousin saw fit to post a snide anti-Dems comment. Keep in mind NOBODY else saw fit to do that.

My reservoir was depleted, and this got to me. I shouldn’t have posted at all in that state of mind. After posting here, I went back to my FB page, deleted the reply, and said that I’d deleted the comment because it had been mean-spirited, and that this is not the time and I refused to let it be the place to post such things. I felt better then, especially after a number of people–again, both Dems and GOP–agreed with me.

Moving on…on my way home from the PO, I was walking up a long, steep hill and struck up a conversation with a guy moving at glacial speed in a power chair. He said he was conserving the battery, as he had several level blocks to go after the big hill, but no problem, as he wasn’t in a hurry. He was so calm and untroubled! I realized I need to conserve my emotional energy for the week/month/year ahead.

Sorry to ramble on so.

hippie, I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow. I hope surgery goes smoothly and easily.

boo, I’m more of a KitKat fan. I can tell you that when it came to treats I handed out to my students, KitKat was the hands-down favorite.

I bought them for my roomie because I knew they were her favorite trick or treat-I will have a few but I’ll concentrate on the Reese’s. My favorite treat was always Mr. Goodbar or Junior Mints but I didn’t often get many on my Halloween circuit. I’ve been trying to make up for lost time ever since. I hope you are rich in Kit Kat’s this year. They’ll be putting out their holiday special editions pretty soon and I’ll be putting some on my housemates’ pillows when they do.

I loved every kind of trick-or-treat candy out there except the peanut butter caulk–I mean kisses. My best-ever score was a baggie full of SweeTarts. We four kids pooled our loot–Mom’s orders. We got the next day off of school, but public schools did not, and Mom taught at one. She hid the candy bowl before she went to work every year, and every years we found it, usually after an hour or so of looking.

I’m guessing she smiled that whole day teaching, enjoying thinking of you kids looking for the bowl and going hog wild. After all, that’s what the day after Halloween is for.

Oh, no, my mother was the eternal optimist who thought every year we’d never find that year’s hiding place. She was always a bit put out that we’d found it. I don’t think we ate a whole lot of it. It was a huge bowl full because my older siblings covered a lot of territory, whereas after dinner, I liked staying home to hand out candy.

I rationed my son to two pieces of candy per day. To my daughter, having the candy was more important than eating it, so everything her dad didn’t steal was still there at Christmas.

Already tomorrow here. Hope everything goes as planned.

Best. Housemate. Ever. Except I’d have to share my Junior Mints. My husband doesn’t care for them, so any that enter the house are all mine. Different story for York Peppermint Patties. Those are shared.

He’s cute as a button.

Good luck!

He’s sounds like a wise guy. I’ll try harder to remember this myself.

This waiting is killing me. I know this is all going to drag out one way or the other, but I’m just having one long anxiety attack. I’m not even consciously worrying about it. Apparently, my subconscious has other plans.

Up, caffeinated and sheveled. Off to sort. Hopefully not a lot of anvils or live bees :honeybee:

We didn’t have to pool ours, but as soon as we all got home, we’d dump our individual bags of goodies and the trading began! One sister didn’t like anything with nuts, peanut butter, or coconut. My brother and I would swap with her to get rid of our boring stuff and get her good stuff. Then, despite our best intentions, it would mostly be eaten in a couple of days, leaving the stuff we really didn’t like for Mom and Dad to pick thru.

Which is why I was amazed when my own daughter would leave most of her candy untouched for months till it fused into a big, sugary lump that had to get tossed in the trash. What sort of mutant did I give birth to??

I’ll be off to fetch Roxy in about half an hour. It should be a nice day, so we may go to the playground. Other than that, no real plans. Furniture is being delivered tomorrow, so either last thing tonight or first thing in tomorrow we’ll have to move the loveseat to make room for the sofa and new tables. Very excited…

Still don’t know what’s going on with the inlaws and Thanksgiving. But I need to get the turkeys soon and get them cooked, carved, packaged, and frozen, one way or the other. Can’t believe it’s just 3 weeks away!

Happy Thursday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 52 Amurrkin out and fair (as opposed to ugly?) with a predicted high of 79 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Not a bunch happenin’ today. I might mow. Or not. I do have to do some convention stuff this evenin’. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit, just cause.

Hippie good look with the surgery today. Hope all goes well and that you can post later on today.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Good morning Mumpers. It’s a not-so-blessed Day Off today. My goals include getting a copy of my house key made, and also not freaking out & getting drunk.

I heard from someone (so you know it must be true) that we’re looking at an E.T.A. of 11 a.m. Central Time to find out the you-know-who about the you-know-what so until then, the world is just gonna keep spinning.

Onward into the day, I guess. Rah?

Morning all. Up early again, not sure if it’s the bed, the new comforter, the shorter daylight hours, or just the election, but not sleeping well lately. 61F heading for 70F, so a nice Fall day, will be out to coach the kids this afternoon and then the games start Friday (will coach six games in 44 hours).

Can’t even remember what I did with my candy, I can remember going out and since my brother was with me we usually had the exact same things, so not much trading.

nellie, I have about 40 left over Kit-Kats (the small 2-bar ones) and I’m trying (with moderate success) to keep myself to no more than 4-5 a day. Not easy. And I try to keep politics off my FB page if possible, maybe because I’ve read enough history that the folks freaking out don’t know how crazy some of our elections got in the past…

Bumba, cute pup!

OK, need to forage for sustenance. All y’all take care.
