Here comes lockdown again, but not in the MMP!

Keeping myself busy. Well, okay, and also playing “Plants vs. Zombies” (my dumb little game of choice) and occasionally scooping up a cat who looks like they need cuddlin’.

So far, I’ve scooped both litter boxes, tossed the two Jack o’Lanterns before they started to rot on my front steps (it already looked like they were whispering to each other - they were starting to sag, and rotting gourds are a mess) and dragged half my laundry down to the basement. Cleaned the cast iron pan from the other night’s Hunk o’Cow, too, and schlepped out some trash.

Now I’m sitting down to a celebratory 99-cent honey butter biscuit, augmented by a couple of soft-boiled eggs, and … you guessed it … a hot cuppa tea.

I need to force myself to get back onto the unholy U.I. that is the Michigan unemployment website, and try to get UNDERemployment money to come my way. My hours were cut, I’m due for some help, but their procedures make me wanna hang myself.

Or rather, play with my ratties … which really means setting up clean new tubs, and moving the ones in the dirtiest homes into clean, new bedding.
It’s such a satisfying feeling.

It’s also full of surprises.

Moved a group yesterday into a small tub, because I was expecting 4 adults. There had been no sign of babies.

Secretive little buggers.

Nineteen total headcount!

If I’d known, I’d have moved them into a bigger enclosure. Dammit. Ah, well, onto the next one - these are slated for another move soon, but for now, they’ll be alright.

Up and cocoaed. Nice sunny day today, but they are predicting that the weekend will be rainy AF. Hope it is spread out enough that the fire-ravaged hillsides don’t slide into people’s pools and backyards. Meeting a teaching buddy for lunch so we can catch up. We’re used to seeing each other every day, but since March…

The goals for the day are to change the litter boxes and figure out what the eating choices are going to be for the weekend.

Happy Thorsday, y’all.

Afternoon, Mumpers! Another busy day here today, and I have managed to not achieve the one thing I had planned to do. As ever, there was an emergency and then an urgent job that had to be done as soon as the emergency was fixed. The one important thing I managed to do was write a birthday card and scoot across the road to the post box to send it on its merry little way.

I went to the pub last night with friends (we’re a support bubble, it’s allowed) which was fun. We went to the same one we’d been to for the last couple of weeks and again sat at the same table. It was much busier than last time, I suppose everyone else was out for the last time before lockdown struck at midnight. Well, 10pm as that was closing time. It was strange being in a pub that had virtually no beer - he’d been doing takeaway sales all week to get rid of the barrels in the cellar to avoid having to dump them as it wasn’t until yesterday that the Bumbling Buffoon did a u-turn on pubs being able to do takeaway sales. Anyway, choices were limited but there was enough to last the evening.

Other than that, it’s been a quiet day. I’m informed that it’s my turn to cook tonight so I’ll have to think about what to do. I am currently thinking about curry because it’s quick and easy. And I like a good curry.

They brought in a bunch of newbies, none of which got assigned to our sort table. Not my problem, and I get paid by the hour. And as far as the answer to my supervisor as to why all the other supervisors keep moving me somewhere other than where she said, my standard answer.

The house is in an uproar. Why, you ask? Because overlyboy, being a typical teenager, slept in and missed the first 20 minutes of online school. To my husband, it’s obvious we need to have some sort of family summit, overhaul overlyboy’s bedtime and wakeup until he can demonstrate sufficient responsibility. Given that this is the first time this has happened in two years and school started two hours earlier this week than it did last, I sighed, said that this was how responsibility is developed and maybe we ought to have a lights-out deadline but I’d rather we not make this a “thing.” Of course, it’s gonna be a thing.

Either overlyhusband and I will have a two-hour conversation about this before having a half-hour long conversation with overlyboy, or he will lecture overlyboy for an hour or two about the importance of responsibility. I’ll take the time hit, but sweet baby Jesus, can we not let the guy screw up even a little without making it a huge, damn deal? What happens when we make everything a huge damn deal is that nothing is a huge damn deal. My husband is now convinced that our son will fail high school. Because that’s what happens when you’re 20 minutes late to class as a high school freshman.

Anywho, finished my coffee. Getting ready for the next meeting. Dreading the inevitable discussion about how our son will wind up in a flop house if we don’t take urgent corrective action right the heck now. Oh, yeah, and overlygirl decided to use some horrific, cloying body spray last night all over herself and the bathroom. It was so bad I couldn’t fall asleep thanks to the resulting extremely stuffy nose. All the windows that can open in the house are open.

Yeah, you might as well find him a refrigerator box and set it up under an overpass. The kid’s destined to be a bum…

I’m with you - kids screw up and they need to deal with it themselves (within reason, of course. This is a definite he-should-handle situation. IMHO)

FCD got his satellite radio subscription switched. I did it on line. They still charged us $15. Sirius XM is so leech-like, it ain’t funny. That’s why every year I call and say if they don’t cut me a deal, I’ll cancel, and every year they drop the price enough to make me happy-ish.

Roxy is napping after a lunch of Italian wedding soup and some of my sliced cucumber. Honest to goodness, I’ve never known a little kid who likes veggies as much as this one. She made her mama make her peas for breakfast one morning! Anyway, I’ve got a little quiet time now. Whew! If I’m lucky, she’ll sleep till her mama gets here.

It’s my weekend! Gonna veg today and golf tomorrow. One of the foursome is a Trumper, so it could be interesting.

Laundry is spinning and late breakfast and coffee have been consumed. And I have no actual plans for the rest of the day, which is unusual. I’ll try not to look at election results every five minutes.

Evening all. Hugs all round, to be taken as required.

Another day in the plague pits- supposedly we’re on ‘lockdown’ but the traffic was about the same as usual. I am not convinced. We now have to wear masks in the corridors, but still not in classrooms. At least it was all sunny today, so we could be outside pretty much all day. Couldn’t get away from your election though- even the students kept bringing it up.

Nothing much else to report. I’m supposed to be doing my first proper teaching class tomorrow- not just the glorified timetable-stuffing-babysitting that I’m doing at the moment, so I’m trying not to overthink that one. They’re… not my favourite class. It’s not going to be an easy one. Oh well.

Happy Thorsday!

It’s a bright sunshiny 63 degrees outside.
Nice time at the dog park this morning.

The city dog park is supposed to open tomorrow. We are hoping so, the county park has its perks but we miss our regular park. I know a few of the county park regulars can’t wait to see us go. They see us coming and they gather up their dogs and leave.
The perks of the county park,
1 plenty of parking
2 don’t have to worry about the dogs barking, there is nobody nearby to disturb
3 because it’s not in easy walking distance of anywhere, we don’t get the un-neutered pitbull crowd. Usually not an issue for those of us who go early, but in the afternoons it can become an issue.
The disadvantages are,
1 further away
2 no pavilion
3 no water fountain
4 the poop bags are horrible, flimsy plastic that I can’t even open, and easy to poke a hole in
5 opens later in the mornings.
and the real disadvantage,
our dogs just aren’t as happy there.
I couldn’t figure out what is up with Ripple. Usually we go to the park and they both settle down and sleep while I irk. He has been bugging the hell out of me. I finally realized that he wants to go to the ‘real’ park.

Family drama going on again. My mother’s other daughter is…
well, she wants me gone, shut out of the family.
Niece1 is in the hospital and I’m not allowed to know, only my mother told me but didn’t tell me what is going on. I sent a text to Nephew-in-law1 and asked. Fortunately nothing life threatening, she had a bad reaction to some medicine she was prescribed and has to be kept until they are sure she has recovered and figure out a different med for her. I guess he said something to Niece1’s mother, and then she called my mother bitching my mother out, then my mother called me and bitched me out.
Only instead of taking it like a good little girl, I went right back at her and told her I have a right to know what is going on with my nieces, unless my nieces say otherwise. I had a few not so nice words about her other daughter.
All this does is cause shit all the way around, because my niece was probably wondering why I haven’t asked after her.
My mother does this shit too, like not telling me my cousin’s husband died until after he was buried, and once when I was in the hospital, she told my nieces not to call or come see me because I wanted to be left alone.

Tub finally got in. At first I hated it and was ready to call the guy and tell him come and get it out of here. Now I like it, but I will like it better when the shower is up too. I don’t always want a bath. My son isn’t too thrilled with it, but he prefers showers anyway.
The tub comes with a sprayer attachment but the surround isn’t up yet so neither of us is comfortable using it. Once the surround is up, the lfb guy will rig something up to hold the sprayer. I thought he could just put in another showerhead, but control on the tub allows for either the faucet or the sprayer, there is no option for a showerhead. I suppose there is a way to do it, but we’ll live with what we have.
For now.

If any of you go to get a tub and want a surround, Home Depot will tell you they don’t make surrounds for walk-in tubs because people who get walk-in tubs don’t want showers. Not true, there are walk-in tubs that come with surrounds, but you have to get them from one of the walk-in tub companies and they cost a lot more. Also, it’s not true that people with walk-in tubs don’t want showers, we do. I imagine most people would unless you are a single person living alone and never want or can’t take a shower.

The downside of the tub is, it takes forever to fill, and if you forgot something you can’t just jump out to get it. It also takes a lot of water, we already turned up the hot water heater, and are probably have to do it again. On the plus side, the water stays hot a long time, and the tub does drain quickly. Faster than the old tub.
My knee that doesn’t like to bend is already feeling better because I can bend and stretch it in the hot water without it hurting. I don’t get any of the extras, but I wish I had a heated seat. I also wish the seat were just a little bit shorter height wise, but then I am short.

I have to decide on a health plan this month and I am not happy with my options. I need to call though and find out how it irks, since my son drops off my plan at the end of May. I don’t know if my income gets prorated based on him being on my plan for 5 months. No matter what, I am going to be paying a hell of a lot for insurance this year. I don’t want to call them because they suck.

I have to do something with the deck. There is a spot where the rails are slightly wider apart and Echo can fit through, get into the neighbor’s yard, and then bark at the dog two doors up. Ripple can almost fit through. I had chairs there before. The chairs got moved to make room for the tub. Now that the tub is gone the chairs don’t irk anymore, because the dogs know the wider spot is there and they just push the chairs out of the way.

Good luck Hippy.

I’m very busy putting off cleaning out the fridge. I have this urge to just pitch the entire contents and scrub it out, but it’d be pretty expensive to start again. I don’t know why I hate it so.

wordy, this is his first tardy in 2 years? Pat that kid on the back for such a good record! Hey, have hubs talk to the attendance secretary at son’s school. It may only convince him all teens are irresponsible, but it’d give the attendance person a badly-needed chuckle.

hippie, you’ve been in my thoughts all day.

MetalMouse, that is amazing self-discipline that deserves a KitKat. This is my first-ever even mildly political post in the 11 years I’ve been on Facebook. As I said, a mix of conservatives and liberals replied positively. Even far-right friends who’ve drunk deeply of the reactionary Kool-Aid didn’t respond in a snide manner. I think I may unfriend him.

bumba, forgot to say your pup is adorable. If he were mine, he’d be spoiled rotten. Who could resist that little face?

Shoot, the fridge is calling me. Apparently uneaten leftovers have evolved into intelligent life forms. If I don’t report back, you’ll know why.

Supper will be pasta bake - it’s almost done. FCD’s car has been dropped off for inspection and baseline servicing. With under 30K miles (it’s a 2014) I don’t expect there will be any issues.

Other than supper, nothing else on tap tonight. Which suits me fine!

Howdy Y’all! Today I achieved gettin’ a haircut (said I was yestiddy, but didn’t, so deal), goin; through a bunch of socks and gettin’ rid of the ones that were really worn, and ordered majik intartoobz pizza, which OYKW went and picked up, made a sallit, and ingested said pizza and sallit. Also, dealt with the convention thing I had to deal with this evenin’, which, fortunately, did not take long. Tomorrow I have a buncha stuff to read prior to hoppin’ on line (it’s hosted by a site called hop in) for real convention stuff.

Bumba if Gibbs were mine he would be a lot more spoiled than I’m sure he already is. Cute lil’ feller!

wordy I am shocked! Late for skool! Does he not know that will be on his permanent record and follow him for the rest of his life! He is now an official derelict.

Hoping everything went well today hippy.

Irked, came home, walked the dog and had brinner (oatmeal, bacon and aigs, if you must know). Chillage in the studio is on the agenda after KP.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Nice day today.
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!?!?
:cheese: :cheese: :cheese:

Hope everything’s good, Hippy.

Tonight, on the local news, one item got almost as much attention as the election: we’re getting Whataburger in the area.
Whataburger
Whenever I go to Texas to see Sis, one of our lunches is a trip to the one in her neighborhood. I found that I liked them years ago doing a sales project in Florida. They likely won’t be on the regular drive thru rotation for a while, since the nearest one will be in the 'Boro, about 10 miles down the road.

Yeah, red, they’re talking that we’re getting a Whataburger here in N. Ali-bama, too; guess they’ve decided to expand this direction. Have had one in probably 20 years, since my last visit to Body-Of-Christ, Texas Corpus Christi .

Soccer has been practiced, and the Area Tournament starts tomorrow, I’ll coach at least 6 games in 45 Hours and might sneak a referee job in there. At least the weather is supposed to be nice. Big Bowl O’Sallit has been assimilated.

Sari, glad you like your tub. I’ve been a bather and not as shower-er all my life, many houses these days don’t even incorporate one, especially in the second Bathroom.

talky, husband-unit needs to take a deep breath and calm down. If this is a first offense, let him know about it and that further instances will not be tolerated so calmly.

Boo fae, with our President about to change (or so it appears), I value you insults of Mr. Boris all the more.

OK, go watch some tackleball and hope tomorrow the bloody election has elected somebody.

All y’all take care,

I ignored the fridge and did laundry instead. I also changed my avatar. The old one was a photo I took of a Japanese maple shrub from underneath. The new one is…the real Nellie Bly.

Just looked her up. Her maiden name was Cochran, same as my grandmother, but my grandmother thought her Cochran was from Scotland. I’m extremely impressed by women who managed to do so much without even being able to vote.

It is 2.39am local time. Surgery was about 20 hours ago. It was successful but I feel like I have been run over by a truck. Dilaudid every 2 hours. Still in intensive care

HIPPY!! SO good to see you made it through and that surgery was a success! I’ve been hit by that same truck. In a couple days, you’ll feel more like you were hit by a Vespa. Hope the pain diminishes quickly.

How long will you be in the ICU?
