I’ve always admired her courage, talent, and feistiness. I’m really not worthy of that username.
How cool that she and your grandmother had the same as your grandmother! Maybe you’re 8th cousins four times removed.

I did the same!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 59 Amurrkin out and clear, with a predicted high of 80 and kinda, sorta, N.O.S. for the day. Apparently it’s Spring. Today I have a buncha readin’ to do prior to five p.m. when virtual Diocesan convention starts. The readin’ consists of resolutions, reports, proposed budget, and bios of folks who want to be elected to various commissions, committees, and so forth. Fun! So that and convention are on the agenda for the day. Sup shall be burgers 'n fixin’s and fries.
Hippie glad you survived. Hope you’re out of ICU and back home soonest.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Firday Y’all!
Happy healing, Hippie!!
I forced myself to stay up about an hour later last night and apart from one head call, I slept thru till just after 5, so I count that as a win. I’m having my quiet computer time before fetching the kidlet. Hoping I can take her to the playground today - it was just too chilly yesterday morning.
We’ve got to move a little furniture around before this afternoon and I need to run the vacuum over the stretch that will be covered by the new couch. Since it’s power recline, it’ll be heavier than our old couch, so not as easy to skooch around for deep cleaning. That’s the big plan. Plus we need to hang the various prints in the living room so we don’t have to stand on the new couch to do that. Semi-busy day ahead.
Happy Firday!!
I feel stupid for asking this but I’ve been seeing this thread all week and I still have no idea what MMP is supposed to mean. Can someone put me out of my misery?
Happy Firday!
It’s a dark 46 degrees outside. It looks to be a sunshiny day with a high in the low 70s.
I’m waiting to hear from Lucy’s dad as to which park we will be meeting at this am. He lives near the city one so he is going to ride by there first and see if it’s open. Once I hear from him, I’ll send a text to everybody else.
I forgot to wish FCD a happy birthday and congrats on new car. Is it the ceramic coating he wants to get?
Cute pup Bumba, what bright eyes!
Glad you came through surgery okay Hippie.
I cleaned the fridge and freeze a few days ago. I never have much to clean out of it, I do that every Sunday before trash goes out. No time for the science experiments to get started that way.
What was annoying is that the first pack of ground beef I put in the freezer dripped blood.
I bought too much stuff that had to be frozen, so I got to play freezer tetris too.
MetalMouse, I have been looking at floor plans for some new developments going up around here, and the master baths (or whatever the hell they are calling them now since ‘master bath’ is not pc) don’t come with a tub at all. You can upgrade to a bigger shower though.
I will be glad when the bathroom is finally finished. It took lfb guy a lot longer than he thought it would to get the tub in. Even the connecting the pipes part took longer than it should have. So I am on hold while he catches up on some other jobs he postponed to do mine.
Still don’t know what is wrong with Echo’s nose. The vet put her on antibiotics. Whatever it is, it hasn’t slowed her down at all. I wish I had one tenth of her energy.
Monday Morning Post.
Ahha!
Thanks!
Yeah, that’s what he wants, but he got a quote of over $2300 to have it done, so that ain’t happening. Instead, he ordered the stuff he needs to do it himself. I think he’s out of his mind, but it’ll give him something to do in retirement. We’ve been thru this before - the first few months, he treats his cars like they’re precious jewels. Then he gets bored and goes back to being normal. I don’t say anything any longer - it’s not worth discussing.
He did want to do the same to my car - 8 years old with almost 180K miles and a couple of rusty chipped spots. Um, no. I’ll run it thru the carwash and vacuum it occasionally - that works just fine.
Roxy wanted apple sauce and PB&J for breakfast. She had maybe 2 spoonsful of the apple sauce and 2 bites out of the sammich. It’s all in the fridge for now. I’m guessing the growth spurt is over.
Foggy morning - hope the sun breaks thru soon. I should be able to open the house today, since we’re promised 70s. We shall see…
EvilSpaceman - there’s a sticky with all kinds of info about the MMP if you’re interested.
Mornin’ all.
Awful glad @Hippie is still with us.
Off to drive the middle schooler to her Hall Of Learning, then return home to tackle gruesome financial paperwork. Stand by for news of procrastination.
Hola, amigos. Got called in to pick up a 10-hr shift today (yay!!) so I had extra incentive to get shit done yesterday. One of my friends from work is gonna stop by while I’m out of town next week, to check on the kitties & give the rats fresh water, and I just couldn’t let her see how awful I’d let things get.
All the ratties are in clean bedding, the kitchen is clean (if you don’t peek into the fridge) and I did a great deal of general picking-up-and-putting-away-of-things. Scrubbed the terlet, too.
Off to irk in an hour. It’s a bright, sunny, warm day, so I’m gonna wear my cute leggings & shake my ass a bit. It’s good to feel attractive again.
So glad things went well, Hippy! Sending healing thoughts your way.
Thank goodness it’s Friday. I’ve got my coffee, a cranky son (who got up on time) and am contemplating food before my first meeting of the day. We had “the talk” with overlyboy. My husband used some overly-powerful language (I think), but he had lights out and was snoring away last night earlier than previous nights and managed to haul himself forth from bed early.
I cannot believe how much I anticipate the conclusion of 2020. If I read one more “Biden on the Brink!” article, I will scream. Just stop stringing us along, dammit. Wait until the votes are counted and THEN tell us.
Anyway, COVID test today for mom as a pre-op precaution. Which makes sense. We’ll get a really swank (takeout) meal for her Sunday because she won’t be able to swallow solids for about two weeks after her surgery. I’m looking forward to some gnocchi carbonara.
Shoe, I’ll take some of what you’re having.
Remind me, where are you going?
Check the Sticky at the top of the forum page. Lots of history and explanations. Although you still won’t get the story behind all the nicknames. Stick around long enough and make a big enough ass of yourself and you’ll get one of your own.
Happy Friday! Laved, shaved and ready for a department meeting at 8am to talk about how we deal with all the failing students this semester. Ought to be glorious fun. They are strongly predicting rain here for the weekend, which is much needed. Also predicting freezing temps for a few seconds Sunday and Monday nights. We may have finally shifted to Fall in SoCal. Changed out 2 litter boxes before my shower and I have copious amounts of leftovers in the fridge to get me through the weekend. Now I just have to get through today.
Hippy, you better get your ass out of ICU muy pronto and get back to the healthy you we all enjoy!
Morning all!
The caffeine is just beginning to course through my veins and I’m preparing to whack a tiny white ball into 18 slightly less tiny holes. What a ridiculous endeavor, when you think about it. The weather has been bee-yoo-tifful lately - until today. Cloudy and windy with a high of 58. Oh well, I gots a jacket. You know the old saying about my worst day golfin’ being better than my best day workin’? In my case it’s literally true, because I’m terrible at it. But Og help me, I love doin’ it.
Hippie, so glad to hear from you! I knew everything would be fine but it’s a relief to have it confirmed. Here’s to a speedy recovery, but not so speedy that you don’t have an excuse to relax and be lazy for a while.
Is it just me or would that have worked better as two separate sentences? Thanks, @silenus I needed a little laugh and you gave me one.
Thanks, @silenus I needed a little laugh and you gave me one.
Sort went OK. But the Rogue Weight Company can hoover my portside reproductive organ. That is all.
I was hungry, so I’m ignoring my laundry and doing my fridge.
Yay for being alive, [n]hippie[/b]!
The Monday Morning Post. The place for things too mundane and pointless for MPSIMS, and for hugs noogies, and gentle shoves when needed. You’re now one of us.
I’ve been on the Dope since 2001 and somehow missed all of this! I guess I don’t visit MPSIMS enough. Now I know this happens I may pop in for a cuppa.
I’m a long-time Doper and a newbie to the MMP as well. The folks here are kind and welcoming, even (especially?) when you say something dumb. Welcome, and stick around!
Thanks!
I may spend most of today in the election thread but I shall return at an appropriate time…
