Hot Dog! It's the MMP!

[Maxwell Smart]
Missed it by that much.

[/Maxwell Smart]

Early this afternoon, when everything did that psych-out working-for-a-minute thing, I wrote a big long post all about everything I did since Monday and how much fun I had.

Then it all went to hell. I’m not doing it again.

But I missed you guys. :stuck_out_tongue:

MBG, I woulda beat you, but just as the boards came up, the kiln guy called. Turns out it was as FCD suspected - technology overran the manual and they haven’t updated it yet. So I’m good to go. Plus the guy told me a couple other things I wouldn’t have known otherwise, and he was very helpful. When I get home on Friday, I’ll start the firing. Woohoo!!

We had one hellacious thunderstorm last night, starting just a bit before 9 and continuing till midnight-ish. I was awake for the whole thing, like I coulda slept. So 4:45 came way too early. <yawn> But I managed to survive my first day back to work post-Robert, and I stopped on the way home at an Amish farm and got me some corn on the cob and fresh 'maters and cukes. Yum.

Another T-storm is on its way - I hope it plays out earlier - I need my beauty sleep!!! But I just looked at the weather radar, and it’s a biggie. Poot.

And cross-posting from my LJ: My baby should be on the road now - I-10 west. She and FriendMegan are on a road trip for the next month or so. Their first target is Carlsbad Caverns, although today’s goal is to get out of Florida. They got a late start, so I don’t know how far they’ll make.

The basic premise of the trek is to visit FriendMegan’s cousins in Seattle. They’re going via the southern, then western route, with a side trek to Vegas. Then they’re returning via Yellowstone, Mt Rushmore, and Cedar Point. They’ve got GPS aboard, cell phones, laptops, and who knows what else.

I hope they have a ball. I hope I don’t become too much of a nervous wreck. They’re 20, and both are very responsible. I don’t worry about their judgment. Except when it comes to the car - neither are very car smart. We told the kid if she has any car problems, she’s to call us before paying anyone to do anything. And she’s got AAA, so that’s something, I guess.

My baby’s on a road trip. I’ll be glad when she gets home. :frowning:

:raises hand: I had withdrawal symptoms! Specially since I haven’t been on the boards very much all weekend…so was really missing it.

oh thank og! i was going thru major withdrawl symptons!

OK, everyone, just settle down. Deep cleansing breaths. Focus.

Now I’m not sayin’ what caused the boards to go down, but it’s been a mighty long time since anyone sent me chocolates. Don’t go readin’ anything into that tho…

Bobbio with the news reports I’ve been hearing lately from the God-forsaken Peninsula, I wouldn’t go out of my house at 3 in the morning without a gun, let alone a flashlight.

Morgyn You have a cat named Neko? Is it the original Neko the Kitty? ‘Cause that would be so cool. One of my random desktop images is the Thanksgiving party scene.

Drae I bet your parents would have gotten up sooner if’n you “forgot” that the alarm was on and went outside anyway. And is it true all your casinos are closed now?

Yea taxi and KeithT! About time you too were living in sin, seeing you moved half-way across the country to do it.

There is a hot dog place down the road from work. Apparently the owners are friends of the owners of Technical Thingies, Inc, and I know their son because he’s a local musician, and most of my friends are local musicians. I usually get a couple (or three) of the foot-long hotdogs. I only like ketchup and cheese on my hotdogs.

I had a four-day weekend (well, kind of. I did come into work for about two hours, even though I was supposed to have a four-day weekend.)

I got really buried with work last week, and so I stopped posting to the MMP. I figured I post something Saturday. But we had a big power outage at our place last Thursday night – six hours worth of darkness. In fact, the utility pole right across the street from the Factfortress got hit by lightning. And even though I have a UPS, the computer still went down hard. I futzed around with it all weekend, and finally got it running again yesterday afternoon. But then I had to run a bunch of system diagnostics, so I never got a chance to go online until I got to work here today. And look, it’s nearly quitting time. That’s how busy I’ve been.

I’m only up to reading 12:58 of Monday’s MMP, but thought I’d poke my head in here and say hello. And I hope someone got really childish with all the hot dog comments.

:raises hand:
:twitches:
:sends virtual chocolate to FCM:

Southside tain’t much better. Wonder why I found a spot south of the border where door locks are optional?

:stuck_out_tongue: Thanks!

**KeithT ** brought up the last load of stuff Monday night, including his cat Nikita. And she and my Lily decided immediately that they hate each other. ::sigh:: I wouldn’t care too much except tha they choose to express their feelings by yowling loudly. I was awoken this morning to just such a lovely sound. Woo. I’m sure they’ll learn to live together, but right now it’s a major PITA.

I had serious withdrawl because there’s no one at work today so very little to do and with the boards down, I was going crazy! But I’m better now. Actually, while I couldn’t surf here, I think I may have picked out a quilt to go with our new bedroom set. We’ll see what KeithT says. The apartment’s going to look really nice once we get everything unpacked. It was just looking organized when he brought all of his stuff and it got all chaotic again.

In other news, two of my friends got engaged over the weekend. I’m so happy for them! They’re really a great couple. Yay for them! ::flings confetti::

We didn’t do much for the 4th. Some unpacking then we went biking/blading (KeithT bikes and I rollerblade). He looks gooooooood in spandex. I like the athletic look.

No fireworks because 1) it doesn’t get dark until almost 10 so they didn’t get over until late and I have to get up too early to be able to stay up for that (Why didn’t they have them on the 3rd so people could go out late and then sleep in on the 4th??) and 2) I, like all the aforementioned 'fraidy dogs, don’t like the noise. So I went to bed way before the fireworks even started with earplugs in and ignored the whole thing.

The only really 4th-of-July-ish thing that we did was having bbq for dinner. We tried a place called Market BBQ which was good. They’re a rib place though, and I’m not a big rib fan. I need to find a place that does pulled pork around here. That’d be good.

ARRRRRRGGGHHH!!! NEVER do that again! :stuck_out_tongue: I actually worked all day up till now and it weren’t pretty.

My N.O.T. salad came out real good last night. So did the baked beans, burgers, and dogs. Daughter’s Margaritas were pretty good, too. After that I watched the fireworks downtown on TV in high def. That was pretty Jake. No sweating or bugs for me and I didn’t have to drive home.

taters, that warn’t your boat what was burning up there in Seattle I hope.

fcm, yay! Fire away!

One more day of work and I’m on vacation. Whoot!!

Tupug

I was having withdrawals too. Dammit, I got a post all written up and then the board went ka-blooey.

At any rate, last night’s festivities were…um…interesting. When we arrived at our friends’ house, one of their guests was already quite inebriated. She only got worse as time went on. I was embarrassed for her. She made a real ass of herself, and one of our hosts was extremely pissed. She’s just real stress fest anyway and I found it difficult to relax around her because she was stressed about the drunk guest, the kids going in and out of the house (they were all quite young, except for ours and a couple of thers), and keeping things cleaned. She just would not sit down to relax, at ALL. Frankly, I was glad to go home. Otherwise, I met some nice people and there was plenty of food and drink. I really would prefer to just stay at my own house next year, though.

We were going to go out on the boat again today, but decided it would be nice to just stay home for a day and veg. Plus, I’ll be able to get some things done around the house that need doing. Not that I’ve even started a lick of that. Hubby talked me into playing Titans which is a computer game. So, we whiled away this morning until just now doing that.

The sun is taking its own sweet time coming out today. Which is good really. I’m kind of glad that its slightly cooler outside.

Well, I should go and be productive.

I like how the ads are all about hot dogs. If you’re a dog where I live you can’t help but be hot. We need us some of that there rain FCM. How’s about goin’ outside and blowin’ it sorta southwest so it can come down here. The forecast says we have a 40-60 percent chance of rain late afternoon, tonight and tomorrow. My grass has been cut (did I tell y’all I hired a lawn service? Lazy, moi?) so it’d be great if’n it’d rain this evening. Heck, I’d be alright with two or three days worth of rain right now. It’s hot! And dry! ICK!

ACBG is working late this evening, but that’s ok. He needs the extra money cause my birthday is comin’ up the end of the month.

YAY! The dope and the cool kids are back!

Nope, twaren’t my boat. I’m about 30 to 35 miles southeast of Seattle. My boat is safely stowed away in my garage, thank goodness.

Oh, and FCM, I’m glad you got the kiln issue resolved.

**FCM ** - you have to program a kiln? Here I was, thinking a kiln was just an oven that gets hot enough to melt a normal kitchen oven and had one big knob that says “OFF” and “HOT” - but you have to enter a six button launch sequence? Wierd. Good to see that it’s just old instructions.

No major celabrations here. We were in a microscopic parade in the morning. No particular route, either. The fire truck leading the parade decided after two blocks they’d gone along far enough and turned back. They were right, oddly enough.

Our poor dog seems to have acquired a fear of fireworks. Two years ago, she had no problems with the assorted illegal fireworks going off in the neighborhood. This year, she was in a complete panic, shaking so bad that she was blurry to look at, and trying to hide under the toilet. A quick dash to Google finds that Benadryl can be used as a mild sedative at the rate of .5 to 1 mg per pound of dog, and that the stuff is even sold by veterinary-type supply places for that purpose. Quck dash to the medicine cabinet finds 25 mg Benadryl tablets. She’s 55 pounds, so 2 should do the trick. Strangely, that’s the same dosing for a 200-pound human.

Slid the pills into a piece of cheese - she knows something’s up and instead of gulping it down whole, she nibbles the cheese away and leaves the pills on the floor. Fine. We’ll do it old-school. Pry her mouth open enough to lob in a pill, rub her throat and she swallows them.

Unfortunately, they do nothing for her. None of the mammals in the house slept well last night. A note has been left on the calendar to get real doggie-downers from the vet for next year. Right now, I need some puppy-uppers for myself. <YAWN!>

I didn’t know you were working on the new place already. If you need a hand with some stuff, let me know. You’re not that far away, especially for Saturday stuff.

We’re expecting thunderstorms here tonight too. But I bought new golf shoes today at lunch, so I’m gonna wear them and knock some balls around every day until next Wednesday.

Okay, I’m really disappointed.
Hotdogs.
Foot long hot dogs.
Kncok some balls around.
This place used to be a lot more childish.

See y’all tomorrow.

<snerk> Sean said foot long hot dogs and balls. <snerk>

Jeeze Louise! I cannot muster up the energy to get up do what needs to be done. Quick **FCM, ** send me some excess energy, PLEASE!

Tomorrow we plan on purchasing a camcorder; one that records directly on to a mini-DVD. We’re looking pretty hard at one of the Sony models. Does anyone have any opinion or experience with one of these types of camcorders? The last camcorder we had was one of those old models that taped onto a VHS tape. The battery ended up doing some serious weird bulging, and then we couldn’t find a replacement for it. So, this will be the first camcorder we’ve had in several years.

Well, the old-type kilns needed much attention - changing the temperature settings at the correct times and all that. Mine is fully computerized, including 4 pre-set programs. I just poke a coupla buttons, and off it goes! At least mine isn’t a wood-fired kiln - ain’t no way I’m gonna be chopping wood and feeding a fire!

Virtual chocolates? VIRTUAL CHOCOLATES?!?!? <adds dogbutt to The List>

I’m just poppin’ in to say that my next door neighbor just brought me several of those big solid Hershey’s Kisses. That is all.
