Thanks, swampy. The really fun part is that I found out they’d been reading my blog for ages without telling me, looked through the archives, found some remarks not addressed to them, decided they were being insulted, and have been stewing over it for years without telling me.
Aaaargh.
So now I feel like I’m being stalked online. I don’t mind that they were reading it, but I thought I had a grand total of about five people reading, most of whom live with me, and it would have been nice to know, especially if they were going to go back and find things from 2005 to be insulted about.
I’m almost done packing. I am so fried from the baby being sick all week that I’m staring blankly at walls. I think we’ll have cheese on toast for dinner before we pack the kids in the car and drive.
I’m resting easier at the moment. Our company Christmas lunch was today, and I got to talk to my direct boss, his boss, and the boss above them both who also has my new boss under his wing.
All assured me I would be taken care of with relocation, and there is also an outside chance of a new local gig if I’m still here later in the spring, so maybe I won’t have to go. I’m to the point now that I’ve accepted going (a stages of grief event?), so I don’t plan on holding my breath.
The entire Coast Guard operation is getting the boot at the end of January, so it was a tough time.
Rosie, the boss[sup]3[/sup]'s deputy was there also, and I swear she was your little sister. Imagine your facial features as a 30something, with auburn hair instead of red. I so wanted to ask if she had relatives on Lawn Guyland…
Wait, what - **BBBobbio **might not be my neighbor??
Home from wine tasting and buying. I got 2 local wines for my mom, and a merlot because it had a cool bottle. I also got 2 bottles of hard cider for me - I tasted it there and it’s yummmmm!!
Then daughter and I went to Ledo’s for supper - my chicken parmesan sucked - the spaghetti was cold, the chicken was overcooked, and the garlic bread was more like butter bread. And yet there were people waiting for a table…?
Last stop was the dollar store where I got a couple of pretty bags for the afghans I made. Tomorrow when we go to Annapolis, one of my sisters will come meet us and I’ll give her the gifts for the family, since we won’t be in Baltimore for Christmas this year.
Glad it’s the weekend, wish it was a long one. Oh well…
Wait, so the NC coast will no longer be guarded? AWESOME. All my rowdy friends and I are invading. Invading I say!
Don’t worry, though. Your Auxiliary Archives will always have a home at the Hidden Tower at Pirateville U. They will probably eventually have to find a new home, but the Hidden Tower will guard them with all the acid-free paper and ribbon tape they have.
Anybody else picturin’ Spaz in a pirate outfit lurkin’ off the coast of NC and waitin’ to invade? I find the image quite amusin’.
I say we all read LiLi’s blog and find obscure reasons to be miffed. We could spread word around teh intertoobz that LiLi’s blog insults everybody. It’ll be the number one blog in no time! We need to get right on this people!
What? I had pancakes and syrup for dindin. I’m on a sugar high. What’s your excuse cause you know you like the idea. Yes, you do. Don’t deny it. I saw you giggle!
Mooooom, I think I said that I’ve now accepted the idear we’re coming to bring down the real estate values of St. Mary’s County. Deal with it.
Spaz, the NC coast is still safe. It’s Portsmouth VA you want to invade. While you’re dressed up that way, come on by and we’ll discuss walking the plank…
So sorry about your un-vacation, LiLi. Hope the 3 days fly by and you’re home recovering from it very quickly.
And, bummer about the in-laws. I’m with swampy on the “we don’t like them either.”
It’s perfectly OK. You can look forward to cleaning when you get home. Cuz, really, it sounds like it could be more fun.
Pretty dress, taxi.
Mmmm…deviled eggs.
I’ve made mini-cheesecakes for brunch tomorrow. Nilla Wafers are really too small for a crust, so most of mine have shortbread, instead. We’ll see how they turned out and I’ll update tomorrow.
Gotta crawl into bed now…
I know I’m forgetting several things I was going to say…
Just a quick note to say hello. The kids and menagerie have been staying at the house, while I have been staying just up the hill at my parent’s house. The brand new furniture will be delivered in the morning so I will sleep in my own house, in my own beautiful bed…this all feels like a dream, but if it is, I don’t want to wake up. Pics soon.
Morning all, happy Saturday! Belated happyversaries to the Chats and the Taxis!
LiLi - sorry to hear about the in-laws problem. It took my brother over 20yrs to finally come out and tell my mother why he had been so consistently nasty to her, it wasn’t a pleasant telling and in all truth he was completely wrong, but he had sat and stewed with this for half my life at the time so that is some kind of grudge going on there.
Busy day for me, I am off to do some last bits of hexmas shopping in town today then meeting a friend for coffee, then coming home to change before going into the city to meet another friend for dinner (we’re going to our favourite Thai place for Golden Bags!) and then probably off to the pub to see another friend who’s having birthday drinks tonight. I am such a social butterfly, no?
Tomorrow I will be catching up with some letters to friends, mailing the few hexmas cards I actually send, and considering the task of wrapping gifts. It’s my last weekend home alone as 'im indoors finishes his contract next Friday and will be moving back from Brussels.
I don’t send cards to people at work and stuff like that, I think it’s kind of a waste because most of them get sent through obligation or just because so-and-so gave you a card and it’s rude not to reciprocate. Instead, I sponsor an animal for a year and this year’s choice is going to be a pair of golden-cheeked gibbons called Peanut and Pung-Yo who live at an ape rescue centre in Dorset. Makes ya feel all warm and fuzzy, don’t it?
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ on a less cold mornin’ but still cold. Ummm… it’s winter (kinda sorta) bear it’s supposed to be cold. DUH!
BooFae I think it’s all kindsa jake you sponsor animals each year. Who wouldn’t love a pair of gibbons! I send cards to relations I like, church members and a few others. This gotta send so and so a card because he/she sent me one crap just don’t get it with me either. Then again, I am an old grouch. What’s your excuse?
wiki glad the move went all safe and sound. I’d say smooth but what move ever does that. Yay for new furniture! Can’t wait to see!
gt it’s cheesecake. It just has to be good.
Today I get to make little meatballs and Tex-Mex dip. Plus give da cave a little spiff up cause company is a comin’. The bbq for the mini bbq sammiches is thawin’ out and just needs a heat up. Also I need to squeeze in a nappy poo so I shall be all rested and relaxed as a good host should be. Yeah, I am already thinkin’ about nappy poo time. What of it!
I am a slightly younger grouch? I still buy cards for family and close friends, and also for my penpals but i think it’s a bit silly being expected to buy them for all and sundry in the various offices I work/worked in. So I think the animal sponsorships are a much better idea and I feel it’s money much better spent. See? I have my grouch card right here.
gotti, I forgot earlier to include you and DH in the general hugs for the sickies. How is the (im)patient?
Just back from shopping and lunch with a friend, now I’m having a cup of tea before I have to go out again. And I’m looking for something.
I bought a smoothie in a plastic bottle recently which had a little knitted bobblehat on it. It’s all part of Innocent’s “big knit” campaign where very year they get people to knit tiny hats to go on their bottles, and each purchase generates a donation of 20p to a charity that benefits the elderly. I thought it would be fun to buy a smoothie and then put the hat on a bottle of Bailey’s that I’m giving my mum for hexmas.
So I bought the Baileys and put the little hat on the bottle, which is standing right by me on the computer table. But where is the hat? I suspect a small white feline thief has taken it away and hidden it because I can’t see it anywhere!
Ophelia, bring me that hat back, otherwise I’ll shave you and use the fur for gloves!
