I was just informed by E-mail that I might have the chain of events wrong in the Sampiro-**Excalibre ** incident.

I have a question that will probably cost me some ill-will.

Did **Excalibre ** actually post in the thread before **Sampiro ** had start accusing Carnalk and **Excalibre ** of starting shit with him?

I have reason to believe that **Excalibre ** did not actually do anything until challenged by Sampiro. If this is true, than I have acted like an idiot earlier in this thread and owe **Excalibre ** a public apology.

He’s at home. He seems to be doing pretty well, last time we spoke. His departure was a bit uncomfortable for some, including himself, I think, if he can face that. But he made a choice that included not being involved here. So far, that has been permanent.

It wasn’t nearly as rancorous on his part as a lot of people think.

Well, this guy was a great cook and musician, and I am embarassed to admit I have forgotten his nick, but I would have recognized it in this thread.

Don’t know exactly why but it seemed at the last he was trying his damnedest to get banned (not unlike someone else who went a little nutso and whose nick starts with Q) and kept ignoring all of the strikes, even as they were posted.

Anyway, now that I’m “with the program”, that’s the guy I miss. Whose name I can’t recall… :dubious:

Speaking of being “with the program”, how come y’all didn’t correct me when I posted earlier in this thread?

Was it because I’m a senior citizen and “allowances must be made”?

I miss chat. The old days of chat, when we’d have dozens of intelligent, witty dopers flinging words around at breakneck speed. When you could follow maybe two or three of the seven or eight conversations going on, if you concentrated really hard. All of the chatters back then are long gone now. This isn’t meant to denigrate the current crop of chatters at all - they’re all great. There are just a lot fewer of us hardheaded, stubborn, refuse-to-give-up-on-it types, and there’s not as much to say any more.

I remember seeing 70-80 dopers in there at a time, and now we’re lucky to get more than three people actually talking instead of just lurking.
