I Suppose There Should Be A MMP

Holy crap! I’m only 19 minutes behind swampy’s first post of the day. This is waaaaaaaaaayyyyy too early in the morning. Gotta practice though, since tomorrow morning, I’ll be up ~0245. :open_mouth:

Caffeinating, breakfasting and have the usual Sunday chores slated for today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Up at stupid o’clock this morning, so I read stupid stuff via my tablet till FCD decided to get up, and I followed suit. My only plan today is to make the dress for my daughter. And water my veggies - I’ll do that first before it gets too hot. But mostly I’m not going to do much.

I have had a pseudo-quesadilla for breakfast - a slice of provolone rolled in a tortilla then nukelated to melt the cheese. Caffeination continues, then I’ll shower and decide how to clothe myself. So, yeah, another exciting day… :stuck_out_tongue:

\color{indigo}{\text{Happy Sunday!!}}

All righty - I’m clean and clad. The kitchen has been tidied and the dishwasher is done. The squid that I made for my daughter and that Taz peed on has been laundered and it’s across the lines to dry. My veggies and planters on the deck have been watered. I clipped the dead heads from the hosta and some lilies in the back yard. I also hacked back some wisteria that was going crazy around the garden shed. And it’s not 8:30 yet!!! I’m exhausted!!

Heheheh.

As a kid, I “invented” a similar snack: one (1) string cheese, peeled into a few strips, laid on a tortilla and nuked for 15-20 seconds.

String cheese mozzarella melts REALLY well.

Improving. (I like that phrase - the Feel-O-Meter!)

Except for that whole “sleep” thing; that’s becoming a right proper bitch.

Conked out for a few hours after dinner (yay! me eating solid fud!) but after I woke for my mid-night bio break … that was IT for sleep.

I blame Monkey who started hassling Nikki then messing with my stuff, knocking things off shelves - at one point, at about 3:30 a.m. he was literally trying to climb the curtains - the damn cat was utterly cracked out.

I also blame the fact that it was 91% humidity. (!!)

Well, I should probably do some productive things today - wish me luck!

ETA awwwww :frowning: all I did was change “blue” to “purple” in Nellie’s quote, mostly as an experiment to see how the coding works, and that borked it all up. My bad!

There should be a dollar sign before the first \ and after the last } Then it would work. The encoloration command is a \color{purple}{\text{pain in the patoot...}}

Speaking of invented foods, some friends of mine (going back to college days, of course) would roll a hot dog and some cheese in a tortilla and nukelate it. Guess they didn’t like buns?

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today, so cleaning, and perhaps a cat nap. Witth an actual cat.

If you turned into the other kind, it would eat at me.

< laughs in 0100 >

Jerry Garcia dislikes this post

So it was an overnight cat-tastrophe?

Also, someone is snoring, drooling, and twitching on my leg. Alex is more active asleep than she is awake.

Good morning!

I stayed in bed too late because I kept waking up throughout the night and was tired. However, I am showered and have “out in public” clothes on so I can drop Polar off at the vet. I have to leave in about 45 minutes or so to do that. My original plan was to drop him off at 7:00, but I received an appointment confirmation asking me to drop him between 8:00 and 8:30 which kind of borked my plans up a bit, but it’s not the end of the world.

After that, I need to finish tidying the house and water my posies.

Yesterday, after mowing and watering the lawn, watering the posies, and some other chores, I went and got my hair done-did. After that appointment, I went to Costco to pick up paper towels, toilet paper, and diet coke. Three hundred dollars later I came out of the store with a myriad of other stuff.

Well, I should get to gettin’.

Y’all have me feeling downright lazy: I didn’t roll out of bed until 8:30-8:45am. In my defense, though, I stayed out with my friends later than expected – we decided to stay for the second set – and didn’t get home until around midnight. It was a great night! It was an outdoor venue and it did pour rain for the first hour we were there, but we were able to start at a covered table and then move to a table in front of the stage before the first set started. The music was terrific, and the beef enchiladas did not disappoint. I was able to snag a lemon cupcake for dessert – the very last cupcake they had – and it was the perfect finishing touch. Staying out borked up my medication schedule, though: these friends hardly ever want to stay for the second set, so I didn’t bring any meds with me. We’re doing it again next Saturday (same venue), and next time I’ll be prepared! An unexpected bonus from last night is that I took my friend’s leftover pizza home, so I have lunch and dinner already figured out for today.

I just sort-of-watched another pre-surgery online module: “Alcohol after Bariatric Surgery” (basically: don’t do it). Same lady with the vaguely annoying accent, but today’s video was shorter. It was the last behavior module, and now I’m sort-of-watching the lone nutrition module (“Online Grocery Store Tour & Food Label Guide”). After this, I’ll be done with all of the online requirements! And, I can take the next week and a half “off” from pre-op stuff: my next appointment isn’t until 8/4. I have a bunch of appointments in August, though.

OMG what a great idea!!

I ‘invented’ something similar. I heat a little oil in a frying pan and put a tortilla in the pan. Then I put cheese (and jalapeños, and maybe some meat if we have any) on the tortilla and fold it in half and cook it on both sides until the cheese melts.

I need to think of a name for it.

Alex Catt: < gracelessly crashes into Gordie while leaping onto table >
Gordie: < growls in a vaguely irritated manner >
Alex Catt: < looks at me > “Father the loudbeast insulted me”

Pretty sure that’s an actual honest-to-og quesadilla (as opposed to the bastardized versions she and I nuke up) plus you DIRTY A PAN, how decadent.

Oh, ain’t that how it always goes?

:stuck_out_tongue:

If I used cast iron, I just wipe it so as to slowly build up the carbon layer.

Yeah, Johnny_L.A, that’s waaaayyyy too much like actual cooking.

\color{red}{\text{Red}} Eep! That’s wicked early.

It’s going to be stupid hot today. The family dinner shall be tonight, come hell or high water, because my mom is starting to make sad noises about never seeing the grandkids. I’ve caught up on all of my favorite tv shows, so I might actually clean something today. Not much on the agenda, all in all.

Happy Sunday all.

Happy Sunday!

It’s a cloudy 89 degrees outside.
I’m glad I’m inside.

I feel like I can breathe again.
Have so much to do but feel like I am in a good place now.
The appraiser is coming tomorrow, and I have been upset about a few things that need fixing.
My lawn guy came by, mowed the lawn, checked a few of the things and said not to worry about them because they are not something an appraiser is going to care about.
He’s in the business so he would know. He loves my house anyway and says he’d buy it in a heartbeat if it wasn’t within the city limits.
I guess when you live in a house you see all the flaws that other people don’t notice.

Met the neighbor’s new puppy. He wanted out for a black female and came home with a male that is so light he is almost white. Very cute and cuddly, Ripple and Echo approve.
The neighbors are moving next week and that is not happy news for me. However, I had a shit ton of plastic containers that I wanted to get rid of and they were happy to take them off my hands.
I also had a bed frame that they took off my hands.
I am in full ‘Swedish Death Cleaning’ mode.
I’m not planning on kicking off any time soon, but when I do, I don’t want my son to have to deal with a shit ton of crap.

Read all, retained nothing, and I need to get back to irk. I have stuff pulled out everywhere waiting to be put back where it belongs.

I wound up inadvertently making an ersatz pho for lunch, and then cracked myself up at the culture mis-mash that phrase represents.

Heated up some (homemade, thankyouverymuch!) chicken broth, but … hmm… it needed something so I added green onions. Meh, not potent enough.
Maggi seasoning! Pow! As I was putting that back into the pantry, I spied the bag of teensy tiny alphabet noodles. OK, that’ll add starch.
Oh, I have 2/3 onion in the fridge! Add thinly sliced red onion - to round out the green, yanno - and as I’m putting that back, I see the weird freeze-dried cilantro I got on a lark a while ago.

Well, now - besides mung bean sprouts, which are fine but I can take or leave - I basically have, sorta, pho.

Yum. (Beats driving an hour each way to Grand Rapids for the real thing, at least at the moment.)

We decided Salsa’s should make lunch for us - got there just as they opened. As we were leaving, FCD was talking about how his knees were hurting, so we had to go for medicinal ice cream cones. Now we’re home and I’m going to get back to my crocheting (nope, no preggo dress yet today.) I was watching something on Netflix about myths - pretty interesting stuff. So back at it.

Evenin’ all.
Another day of socialling- in the 15 days since moving here, I think I have spoken more in person to real 3d people than in the previous 6 months. I’m all talked out.

I still have not ordered a new laptop- I can upend my life more or less on a whim because I fancy doing something new, but I can’t order a takeaway without staring at menus for at least 20 minutes dithering. It looks like buying a new computer is where my indecision peaks… I now really kind of need it for Friday though, so a choice must be made today.

I wonder how his coloring might evolve. Bailey was nearly all black as a puppy, but quickly became mostly brown with some black at her temples and a black “saddle” (and a white chest and paws). I didn’t know that dogs could change so much from puppy to adult — and I didn’t expect the changes to continue when she got older! Not just the gray that’s crept into her face: the black has gradually lessened, and she’s nearly all brown now. She does still have some black on her back, and on the tip of her tail. The latter amuses me: it looks like someone dipped her tail in some paint.

I’ve been having medicinal popsicles whenever I soak/change the bandage on my toe.

Yeah, it seems counterintuitive but sometimes big decisions are easier to make than little ones. I sympathize with the takeaway part! The laptop wouldn’t be an issue for me, though, because I have a bit of a gadget problem and love configuring/buying new toys.
