Ignored chores in the MMP

Just got back from my walk, 2.54 miles round-trip down the beach. I averaged 3.14 mph – including the hill and the gravel parts of the berm. That’s my personal best.

We had a really busy day. We dropped Her car off for service, did our regular 5 mile walk, hit two estate sales and went to our bank for their celebration of the anniversary, with food trucks and games. We picked up Her car. I stopped at the store on the way home. She is putting the finishing touches on a quilt for our older daughter. I did some fabric prep on the two dozen fat quarters I bought at the beginning of the week. I have a pattern for the first real block I will make with my sewing machine. I have used up a bunch of small leftover pieces learning how to drive it, now it is going to happen for real.

We’ll need pictures of course, all along the process. Just like with kitties and dogs!

Afternoon all. Did half my swimmin’ (since I’ll be out working on the soccer fields from 5-7pm that’ll make up for the calorie burn) and did a couple chores, so now just waiting about an hour to go to the soccer fields and chase kids. It’s 88F outside and the rain has decided to wait until tomorrow (60% chance of morning showers).

hippie, sounds like a busy, productive and fun day so far.

flyboy, congrats for the PB.

bright tree, y’all don’t live in suburbia, do you?  Sounds lovely as long as you mind your manners (and your garbage) with the wildlife.

OK, have to be at the field in about an hour, so need to begin collecting and donning the soccer clothes. Take care all.

Not sure why a certain pair of silly cats apparently do not realize the bedroom windowsill is quite long enough to share without getting too close to each other (not that Buddy would care, but Allie wants distance). They seem to think that windowsill is one cat long, not two.

Howdy Y’all! I got the things done this mornin’ and then we went to the bar just up the road for N.O.L. OYKW got a bacon/cheeseburger and fries and I got the chikin sammich and fries. Both came with lettuce and tomato, so we can say we had our veggies for the day. Oh, and beers, of course. Hasn’t rained as much as TWPTB predicted but looks like some nasty headed our way. Hope it storms all night.

Bright Tree I bet it’s cool to see the cougar as long as you don’t get to close. The closest we have come to wildlife at da cave is when a cow wandered up from a pasture about a half mile down the road. She was in the front yahd munchin’ away on the grass. I felt honored, as she passed several other houses, but decided our yahd would be a great place to stop for a snack. Obviously our grass is superior!

@BippityBoppityBoo

My wife has never thrown out a pattern and I looked through them and found an old “Block of the Month” set from a long defunct quilt shop. This will be my starting point. I have also signed up for a block of the month for myself at our favorite fabric store, staring in October

Here are the fat quarters:

Evening all. Weird Weather Day. No rain, or even a sign of rain, most of the day, get to the soccer field about 5:10pm with some clouds but no sign of rain, and immediately hear thunder rumble, so per direction I cleared the field (not hard, there were only 2 girls on it at the time) and told them we’ll see at 5:30. At 5:20 you could see the rain moving in, and when the drops started falling, I told the parents we were calling it. By the time I got back in my car in was raining harder, then it really opened up and poured buckets for the next 10 minutes.

So I drove home, and 2 miles from the field it was bone dry and sunny. Apparently we had just caught the edge of a storm front and everything to the west of the field was dry. Went back out there are 6:30pm to help with another age group and it looked like nothing had happened at all. so did get some coaching in. Weather be weird.

swampy, also had lettuce and tomato, but in my case with bacon and toast (no beer, Pepsi).

OK, dinner is assimilating in my belly and all is right with the world. Take care all.

LOL, no, not suburbia. I do mind my manners with the wildlife, mostly.

There was one instance when the boy strolled down my driveway and triggered a motion sensor light. I looked out the window, expecting to see a deer/skunk/possum/raccoon, but no. Like a model strutting his stuff on a cat (har!) walk, there he was, casually sauntering along. I don’t mind saying it irritated me. I ran to the door, flung it open, yelled and waved my arms at him. He stopped and slowly turned his head in my direction (at which point I realized he has a gigantic head), as if to say, “Excuse me? Excuse me?” We were separated by roughly 20 feet. I decided to engage a generous spirit and say no more about it.

You should feel honored, and how exciting! Your yahd does obviously have superior grass! Cows are discerning like that.

I had a pair of steers that would regularly fence crawl to get to the tiny strip of grass growing just outside the fence line. The best grass, it would seem. The only way to get them back to the barn was to rattle a bucketful of sweet feed. That was easy enough, although watching 1,600 lbs. of frolicking top sirloin heading my way at top speed was a little unnerving. I swear they would fence crawl just to get the nightly sweet feed reward. I was glad to send them to Freezer Camp.

I’m glad you and OYKW got your veggies. Dinner sounds tasty.

Nettie, it’s been fun watching Buddy and Allie make their peace. I’m sure they’ll continue making progress and amusing us.

longhair75, can’t wait to see more!

The house is clean, supper et and fixing to do a bit of reading in bed started once I walk Nelson. Sweet dreams!

Irk was fine - I made no serious mistakes (that I know of!) and whoever was playing D.J. tonight had a nice classic rock playlist queued up. A bit of Led Zep always makes a shift go by more quickly.

And I wasn’t even groaning in pain when I got home!
Monkey made up for it, though, with the drama-llama and the meowing and the incessant talking. Oh, my goodness, a few hours alone and you’d think he had red-hot nails stabbing his paws or something.

He has food, water, a clean(ish) litter box; no real reason to complain besides ennui. Such a drama llama. He’s lucky he’s so handsome.

(He got outside time earlier today and is currently soaking up the scritches. Don’t y’all worry about Monkey.)

Oh, and Pretzel was out & about (well, inside her tank - not, like, roaming the kitchen) but she’s usually curled in her hide so she actually startled me! Then I felt silly, and sheepish - like, I know she lives RIGHT THERE I just wasn’t expecting a large snek belly right when I turned the corner.

You have a delightful way with words. I’m so glad you joined our odd little crew!

Oy, I couldn’t stand the incessant drama anymore and capitulated.
Everyone who is Team Monkey, and joins him in thinking I’m a mean old lady for leaving him for hours! several of them at a time! in order to buy things like cat food and rent payments, rest yourselves assured - he is currently snarfing down some gooshy food as a treat. A pouch of the fancy good stuff, too.

Small hunk o’cow is a-saltin’ in the fridge for my dinner. I feel like I need the protein.

ETA: I snapped a couple of pics of Pretzel being all out’n’about. To me they’re harmless photos - do y’all want to see them?
I don’t wanna trigger anyone who is frightened by reptiles.

I for one am in favor of the snek pics. If I’m outvoted, so be it.

Had a laaaazy bachelor weekend, and it was nice. Martinis one night, scotch the next, pizza, Bond flicks, and old sitcoms.

‘Course, I practiced general bodily hygiene and kept the house clean. I’m not an animal. And I took good care of the kittehs. They don’t like it when Mommy’s not home. We were all glad to see her back.

I’m good and rested for the upcoming irk week, too. It felt like a long weekend, even though it wasn’t.

Ugh, it’s hot, and hyooooomid, and poor overworked Coolio is doing the best it can, but I’m too hot’n’sweaty ( + ) to eat much of my dinner, or to sleep comfortably.

Plus I’ve eaten most of the “good” popsicles and am down to the crappy flavors.

Ye gods, I am a non-fan of summer. Please, winter. Please come back. Preferably preceded by a lengthy autumn full of cool breezes.

( + ) and not in the fun, Gentleman Caller just left kind of way, either.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. I went to the beer release party at one of the local breweries last night:

And of course somebody took a dump in front of the beagle rescue table.

I do this.

150% of their weight. Daily.

< dons Teflon necked turtleneck and pointy stick proof Underoos >

Merely typing it gave me the Vapors.

And the Fainting Couch.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 73 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy (mostly moony?) with a predicted high of 92 and possible rain. We shall see. We shall do the geezer special at the hog trough Golden Corral as our main feed of the day. Other than that we shall be in sloth and general overall uselessness mode.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

It’s definitely early - I saw this as Farting Couch… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

What an awful, short night. It’s my own fault, having caffeine after noon. I’m pretty sure it was past 2 of the AM before I finally fell asleep. And I woke a bit after 6 - once awake, that’s pretty much it. This should be an interesting day.

The main plan is watching Tobias at his house during Mommy-Daughter Movie Time. I know it’s too much to hope that he’ll sleep. But it’s not that long a movie and the theater is maybe a mile from their house. I have to make a WalMart run, too. Not sure if a stop by the marina will be included - FCD is still sleeping. But whatever we do, it better not require any degree of concentration.

Oh yeah - it’s clean-the-critter-fountain day, but that’s just a 20-minute task, as long as I don’t slosh as I carry it to the sink.

I’d I’m good with snek pics, and sneks in general… well, I’d rather not encounter the kind that will kill me, but I actually held a corn snek once and I’ve touched others in petting zoo situations. They are interesting critters, and I feel sad when I see one that has been run over.

Anyway, Happy Saturday, I guess…

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 20c/68f with a predicted high of 21c/70f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s a stupid, cloudy day and I ain’t got fucking shit to say about it”. Except, clearly, weather app is somewhat disgruntled.

I suppose I can forgive you the heinous offence of microwaving water for your tea since you are one of those ungrateful Colonials, clearly you just don’t know any better

Bright Tree we don’t have anything like the exotic visitors that you get, the most I ever see is the local tabby cat popping in for whatever food we’ve got that our own cats haven’t scarfed down.

Moooom I feel your daughter’s pain! We have a number of teachers coming in from various parts of the world (mainly Europe) who are unlikely to be here for the start of term due to visa issues. That leaves us with significant gaps in teaching right from the start of the new semester. Yes, thank you to all the bumblecunts who thought brexit was a good idea…

hippy yes, we definitely need to see the quilting pics! You can’t tease us with it and not show us the progress.

shoe a good soundtrack to your working day is always a benefit. And yes, please can we have pics of the sneck?

Busy day for me so far - I was up early to feed and medicate cats, change litter trays and have a bit of breakfast (and the all-important cuppa) before heading to the gym for bootcamp and spin. I was done by 10am so managed to squeeze in a quick flit round the pet shop where they didn’t have any small bags of cat litter so I bought three large ones. Got home, hefted 90L of litter into the house, quick wash and change of clothes, then off to the hairdresser’s.

Back home to clean litter trays again, my lot have absolutely no issues in the pooping and peeing department! More cups of tea, then we are off out for lunch, afternoon errands, and I have an eye test. Plans after that are fairly fluid - I know what time the doors open for tonight’s gig but don’t know what time the first band’s on, we have a bunch of friends coming from around the country for this gig so may be meeting up with some of them beforehand, might go for a meal first, might just meet them at the venue. Who knows?

@Aspenglow

I can almost see it happening and I am a city boy!

I don’t have a couch.

But between living alone, not being in a relationship, and working in noisy environments, let’s just say that I have no decorum or manners anymore, either. Some mornings, I almost embarrass myself!

I usually post pics via Imgur. Does anyone know how to post LINKS to pics so they aren’t embedded directly in my post here?

I appreciate the folks who wanna see Pretzel (and I have bonus pics of Charm, my much smaller & very brightly colored corn snek) but I know a few Mumpers would definitely notwanna. So I’d like to follow the one-click rule for this, but am unsure how, for images.
