Ignored chores in the MMP

oops, never mind… if you read my answer, ignore it. I misread…

In the window where you write your text, highlight whatever number of words suits you, then click the chain icon (fourth one over, at least on my screen) and it will give you a spot to paste in the URL. When you post the message, the words you highlighted will be in whatever color the reader’s browser uses for web links, and those who are so minded can click that link to view the snake pictures, while us spoilsport ophidiophobes know where not to go.

Well, latest attempt at deviled eggs was rather more successful. Same recipe as before (from my almost 30yo hard copy Better Homes and Gardens cookbook), and I did use the ziploc bag solution for the yolk mixture. The texture was vastly improved. DH’s only grumble was lack of paprika (OK, so I don’t typically have that on hand, must get some), which he thinks is more a visual thing than a flavor thing. I’m considering use of dill pickle relish in the next batch in lieu of vinegar.

It’s laundry day here at Walking Dead Manor. Our least favorite chore because of the communal laundry room. One of the washers has been DOA for at least three weeks and the natives are getting restless. Also, three of the machines take at least an hour to cycle, which means if you don’t time it right you spend half your day going up and down in the elevator. But it’s s’posed to be a gray and wet day in Big Minnie, so it’s not like we’ve got much else to do.

Morning all. Up at the dawn (which I didn’t see, pretty cloudy out with 70% chance of rain) and not much on the schedule today (next weekend starts Saturday soccer games, and that will be keeping me busy for the next several months). Heading to 85F.

bright tree, great story about the wayward steers, had to look up fence crawl, made the story even better. And 20 feet from a cougar…well, been with 30 feet of a pride of lions on the open savannah in S. Africa (of course I was in a vehicle with others and a guide/driver, but still…), but I think you’ve got me beat.

FCM, hope sleepage tonight is good–2am is no time to be waking up (unless you’re doggio)

I’m presuming it was one of the beagles and not one of the patrons…

OK, need to find some sustenance and think about what to do today–besides going back to bed, that is… All y’all take care.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 64 degrees with an expected high of 78 and partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies for the day.

I’ve been awake since 3:00 a.m. no thanks to the husband’s tossing, turning, and scratching. I tried sleeping, but I couldn’t do it, so gave up and got up at 4:30.

I came downstairs to take care of some chores and have only just sat down with some coffee.

I have never been that close to a cougar, bright tree. I loved the story about the beef that went to Freezer Camp. I did get uncomfortably close to a mama bear and her cubs while hiking at Mt Rainier many years ago. I rounded a bend in the trail, and there were mama and cubs just on the edge of the trail about 100 feet up. I backed way down the trail and sat there until I heard them move off. The experience was both exhilarating and a little scary.

I don’t have any real plans for today. I may run errands, I may garden or I might just indulge in some retail therapy. I haven’t decided.

Well, it’s time for another cup of coffee. I hope you all have a fantastic day.

No snake pictures please. A link or 1 click rule is fine. Thank you very much.

It stromed over night and more stroms expected today. Guess I’ll be riding Ariel indoors.

Just curious - do you have an assigned laundry day, since it’s a shared facility? Do you sign up in advance? Do you just take your chances?

FCD has arisen, showered, dressed, and he’s off to Lowe’s for some primer for the support assembly he’s been building all week. I showered, dressed, then loaded and started the dishwasher. When he gets home, I’ll help him tidy his shop. I’ll need to leave around 12 for Tobester duty.

After I get home, I’ll deal with the critter fountain. I think that counts as plans.

Good morning!

Up,caffeinating and ready to load the car.

Read much, retained little , so rosie’s sig to all.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

It’s a crap shoot. Today there were several washers and dryers open this early in the day. Turns out that the washer that was broken is now broke again and just fills with water, so that was a fun few minutes. You’re not supposed to use more than two machines at a time, but fuck that. I’m pretty sure I can kick ass on anybody who challenges me.

Survived another sort. Got laundry going. In my own private washer. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, if you had enough beans the night before… :beans:

The one in Smithfield, N.C. is next to a cemetery. That must make for some fun conversations during social hour.

Yeah. But Steve’s mom had a bag handy for cleanup. (Steve is also a beagle, not just a kid with poor potty discipline  )

Tonight is my long shift - clock in at 4, we close at 1 a.m. so don’t leave before 2 a.m. at the earliest.

But I’ve already made enough at New Pizza Job that next month’s rent is covered, so all additional income this month can go towards chasing away other wolves (e.g. paying other bills: utilities, etc.) - which is just such an enormous relief.

Better pull on the compression socks today, though - gonna be a lotta hours on my feet.

I am, however, eating solid food before my shift, and bringing “quick-eats” snacks like yogurt with me. Gotta get that protein.

Had a nice drive up the lake to drop off some more stuff at the gift store. Looking like rain soon, so grilling is out for today. I’ll save the spendy pork chop for tomorrow. My folks got me a gift card to the local farm stand that has local meats, and I got some nice frozen cuts for my birthday. It’s been hanging out in the freezer for a couple months.

shoe You got this, goooo pizzas! And good on you for eating.

Tis too hot here, must spark up the AC.

I’m not waiting on a lady. I’m just waiting on a friend.

Back from babbysitting and WalMarting. I was able to get Tobias down for a nap, and I fell asleep myself. He actually woke me up - he’d crawled to the end of the sofa and was reaching for something, and he made a sound. I didn’t realize I’d dozed off. So I turned on Peppa Pig and kept him entertained for another 30 minutes till the movie-goers came home. Then a quick run to the Mart for a few things, and I’m home, exhausted, and trying to decide if I’m going to make supper or if we’ll just graze. I’m actually in the mood for Chinese, but the minimum order for delivery is more than 2 of us would eat. So that ain’t gonna happen/

I’ve cleaned the cat box, but I haven’t attacked the critter fountain yet. Tomorrow. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Turns out it was a good thing we didn’t go to the marina today - there’s a big concert at the marine museum - Beach Boys, Temptations, and Four Tops - a Boomer Trifecta! Which means traffic and parking is insane there. The marina staff takes turns at the entry to keep unauthorized parkers out. Staying home is definitely the better choice.

Yup, it’s pouring, so not starting the grill was a wise choice. Think it’ll be a salad fer dinner. Sadly the nearby farm stand’s bakery went out of business, so no more wonderful salt bread.

FCM Definitely a good choice to avoid that mess.

Howdy Y’all! As I stated earlier, we went to the hog trough Golden Corral for the geezer early special. Other than that it has been high sloth at da cave. NICE!

shoe I am not wild about seein’ a snake up close and in person, but snek pics are good.

BooFae you may want to grab your clutchin’ pearls and lie down on the faintin’ couch before you read the next sentence. The only tea I like is iced tea.

Nettie dill relish is good in deviled aigs. I also add a little bit of honey. Gives ‘em a certain je ne sais quoi. OK, I don’t add the honey cause I am all gourmet and stuff. Once whilst makin’ deviled aigs I reached up into a cabinet for sump’n or other and accidentally knocked honey bear into the deviled aig mixture and a little bit of honey spilled. The deviled aigs were a hit, so I’ve been addin’ a little honey ever since.

cookie back in the day when I used a laundromat (so glad I don’t have to anymore!) I took a book to read whilst the cleanin’ and dryin’ of stuff was happenin’.

red safe travels!

We have one of those!

When I moved up here, I got videography gigs at a local studio. I haven’t seen my friend since 2007. He and his wife (and their 5 ½ year old son whom I’ve never met) who now live in Spokane were in Bellingham for a wedding. They came by a little after 13 o’clock. We hung out for just a little bit at the house (my friend said the catio was very relaxing), then went to Drayton Harbor Oyster Co for a bite and beer. After, we went to the little park in Blaine Marina so that the kid could burn off energy on the climbing things while the adults chatted. My friend realised how much he misses it out here, and said he’ll be coming out more often.

Back from the family reunion. Got to see Baby Sis, a niece and all kinds of cousins. A good time was had by all. Tomorrow, I head for home.

I haz a long distance sad.

Happy Saturday!

Beautiful morning at the park. Low 70s, low humidity, clear day.
Hardly anybody was there, only 6 dogs. All of them were lazy.
My son has been going with me. He takes care of the dogs; I take care of getting myself into the park and down to the pavilion.

Lucy dad gave me a cane, and Coco dad lent me a walker.
I use the cane for short distances and the walker for longer walks.
The cane is a tube, so it has no weight and probably not good as a weapon.

The only time I have trouble with the cane is when I come home after dropping my son off at irk. Trying to handle two leashes, and a cane, and open the gate is a challenge.

Ripple is up to 50 pounds now, so a bit too big to climb in my lap when I’m in the truck. I call him a chunky butt, but he really isn’t overweight, he is built like a tank. I think he’d look better if he lost 2-3 pounds, at 47 pounds he had a better-defined waist and a better tuck up.
Echo never gains weight, even though she eats a lot more than Ripple.

She got away from us twice yesterday. She slipped her collar in the morning and took off up the alley. I put her back in her harness.
Then yesterday at the park, Barky and Humpy showed up when I thought they weren’t coming. Lucy dad and Coco dad immediately got up to leave to the small dog side, only the treat ladies were there handing out treats. Lucy left, but Coco refused to go until the treat ladies left. Coco dad took Echo with him to the small side. When he opened the gate, Echo took off up the hill and around the corner, instead of switching sides.
He went after her, but I knew she’d come right back, and she did. She loves Lucy dad too much to stay away from him for long. When he takes her to the small side, she dances around his feet the entire time. She never takes her eyes off of him.

Yesterday was a very happy day for Lucy, she finally achieved her life mission.
She caught a squirrel.
It wasn’t a very happy day for the squirrel.

My poor son, he hates going to the dog park.
I think it’s good for him to get out among other people, even if he doesn’t talk much.
Not only is he uncomfortable with being around people, but he hates to get dog hair and even worse, doggy slime, on him. Coco likes to splash in the water bowls, and if you are too close, you’ll get a shower. Urban likes to put his front paws on the bench next to you and slurp your face. Lucy2, the husky, loves to rub up against your legs. Coco does too, and she is usually wet from laying in the water she spilled.
Not a good time for my son.

In more park drama, I told you about the guy with the unneutered mastiff that puts his dog in the park and then sits in his car smoking weed and blasting music.
His dog attacked Remus. Remus had to be rushed to the vet, he is okay, but the police were called. Mastiff is banned from the park now, and if he comes back, we can call the police and he will have to leave.
Remus is a sweet dog, he used to be part of our morning group.

I’m kind of pissed at our mayor. I don’t like her anyway; I think she is kind of stupid, all fluff and no substance. We were supposed to get a key card system that you would have to show proof of vaccines and spaying/neutering to get into the park. If she had followed through with that, we wouldn’t have to deal with assholes in the park.

I hope you find out soon Nettie, what is going on.

Snake pics squick me out, Shoe, but I can scroll real fast.
They are nowhere near as bad as spider or eyeball pics.

JtC, I hate medicare, I cuss it every day.
And they don’t leave you alone. They are worse than aarp.
I’m getting used to the cane. My son also set up lawn chairs along the sidewalk, so when the pain gets too bad, I can sit for a minute until it eases up.

aarp was so bad I finally got the CA AG involved. I think it was the AG, anyway, somebody got involved and I got an apology and a promise that I’d never get anything from them again.

I hope your leak gets plugged soon Sunny.

{{{Talky}}} One thing I learned in life, you can’t fix other people. You can’t be responsible for their choices.
I think you shouldn’t feel guilty, but that is easier said than done.

The pills the doctor gave me, Meloxicam, are not doing much for the pain. The doctor said I can take Tylenol with it, which is marginally better. Icy-hot helps a little. I have an appointment with an orthopedic doctor on Moonday.
I hope I don’t need any kind of surgery.

I’m kind of queasy about a knee replacement because as some of you know
Niece2 used to have a pit-bull when she was living in the next town over. He got out of the yard one day and came back with a bone in his mouth. A human leg bone. Of course, the police were called and the area searched and it turned out to be medical waste that had been illegally dumped in the woods behind her house. What her dog brought home was the bone from a knee replacement.
I don’t know why it never bothered me before, I mean I knew the knee was replaced, but I never thought about it like part of me is just cut out and thrown away.
It never bothered me to lose my tonsils, or my uterus, but somehow thinking about part of my skeleton floating around out there is too much.
The thought of a dog or some other critter chewing on it… It’s not like it’s still attached, or it’s going to hurt, but really, that is just too icky.
Hopefully, it won’t come to that.

I would never put water and a teabag in a cup and stick it in the microwave. That seems weird.
However, I am another who will heat the water up in the microwave and pour it over the teabag in the cup.
