Ignored chores in the MMP

Mom and I are both fully vaxed and double boosted. We did not take a whole lot of precautions during the 8 day seminar because we assumed that people our age who had survived the plague would also be vaxed and boosted. At least a third of the attendees have come down with the plague. Mom and I are both fine. I can’t speak for everyone there, but a bunch of folks were from Arizona where getting vaccinated never really took off. The others that we know of were from Idaho, so it’s pretty safe to assume that a good number of them also though the plague was a hoax.

I’m saying all that to say that Beamette’s vaccinations will probably amp up her young and healthy immune system very well.

/Crosses fingers and says a fast prayer just because/

Oh, nettie, that sounds really scary, but I agree that if the docs thought you needed to be seen right away that you would have known. My advice is to not give in to the temptation to consult Dr. Google. That way lies fear and madness.

I know you already have no spare time at all, but have you thought about contacting your local humane society and volunteering to walk dogs or pet cats? I have met some of the nicest people doing volunteer work and about half of them were men…

:frowning: And still picking fights with the big boys and golf carts. The old guy’s still got some life left in him!

The Grand Canyon hotel is open again, if I buy the train tickets would your budget allow you a small, expensive, no-frills single room there? I really want to watch the sun set over the Canyon, but hubs has no interest in doing such a frivolous thing and of course we wouldn’t want the mumpers to gossip about us if we shared a room. If we watch the beer/mead consumption, we can wake up in time to watch the sun rise as well.

I love taking people to the Grand Canyon for the first time, it really is awe-inspiring and ever changing. However, tour bus driver’s script never changes, and the horses are so bored with the gun fight that they don’t even bother to flick an ear. It’s still fun and we don’t have to drive or even think about where to go next which so day drinking an happen. (There are also smoking platforms between the cars and weed is legal here.)

You are a very silly Mumper. Don’t you remember that nobody gets beaten with wet noodles around here lessen they really needs it. This is a safe place, we don’t judge and we understand that much of your Dope time is spent doing very boring adult things.

ANYHOW, everyone is welcome to judge this! GG loves his Bright Red Dot of Joy so much that Hubs bought a robot BRDoJ.

I always worry when I hear of this sort of thing because bad things often happen when wild animals and people get too close. I hope your big kitty moves on before too long and yeah, no ambling around in the dark for a while. We do want to keep you around for a while.

We had more rain today, which was nice. Back when we planted our clover patch, hubs got impatient with the white clover I had planted and over-seeded with red clover. My white clover grows to about three inches, red clover grows to be about knee high so has overwhelmed the white clover with the constant rain. It is very pretty and the bees and butterflies are loving it. Hubs hates it because it is so unruly and is making plans to kill everything AGAIN this winter so we can start over with the short white clover next spring.

The wild winds with the storms have beaten the heck out of our tomatoes and the fruit that is ripening is splitting due to over watering. I’ve had to throw over half of them away because they were just too beaten up against the brick walls of their planters. I was able to salvage enough to take to a friend a mile away who’s tomato plant had many flowers but had never produced a fruit. It still had nice flowers and ours have none.

Made good time closing tonight, and even got a compliment from one of the other guys - who has YEARS of restaurant experience, he’s fast as hell and clearly used to manage, too - anyway, he does not sugarcoat, so for him to tell me I did a good job means a lot.

I’m not dragging myself utterly exhausted at the end of a longer closing shift, or at least, not so much, so I guess I am adjusting.
And learning!

So much to learn.
When my mother was :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: all over me about this job, one of the things she spat out was, “How hard can it be? You make pizza for hours?” Well … there’s a lot more to it than that. I’m still learning new stuff every single shift!

That’s not a bad idea. At all! Thanks, kind lady & very smart pothead!

One of the nice little perks of this newest job is that the place is closed Mondays, which means that - for the first time in a very long time - I get a consistent day off. So I could conceivably volunteer, say, Monday afternoons.

Beats hell out of endlessly scrolling Tinder and getting frustrated/depressed.

(Man, I miss working with Inappropriate Crushy-Poo, not gonna lie. Ah, well.)

Trust me, even on his last day he’ll be channeling Capt. Ahab and Khan: “From hell’s heart, I stab at thee. For hate’s sake, I spit my last breath at thee.
And I’ll look at the Grand Canyon thing.

: buys replacement clutching pearls :face_with_raised_eyebrow: Congrats on a good shift. and seeing ankles.

That was funny! Thanks for pointing it out. I meant infarcts of course. Auto typing be weird.

I plead for mercy.I was typing on a phone sitting in my bedraggled Honda eating a cheeseburger after my first session of pulmonary rehab. Probably not the meal choice the dietician who had just minutes before finished her nutrition lecture intended.

And I was fussed. The meal price had gone up again. Like 10%. Then the place cut their senior discount in half~down to 5% when it had been 10%. All in the same week. At least they cut their costs by skrimping on the ketchup so I had a dry, over-priced burger to celebrate their price-gouging with. Grrr……

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 85 {BRRR!) with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted to start around ten this mornin’. We shall see. I shall betake myself over to the church house this mornin’ to deal with candle duty and miscellaneous stuff. Since I shall be out and about, I will also make a run to :astonished:Wally Jr. :astonished: to pick up a few items, the chief of which is ice cream. I want, nay, need ice cream.

Boo as usual, you give the good medical advice. I have to admit I giggled (still am) over makin’ sure further infants do not occur. I, for one, want no further infants in my life.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, bother of bothers, I suppose I must purtify and don attire suitable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Life is just so difficult sometimes!

Happy Firday Y’all!

Reminds me of the time eons ago, way back before the Navy put women on ships, when my team lead paid me the ultimate compliment. He said I was the kind of tech he’d want to work with at sea. There was nothing skeevy about how he said it, and it really meant the world to me.

What have you got against hanging out in bars? I had an uncle who met all five of his wives that way!

Amen to that! The one in my life at the moment is wearing me to a frazzle!!

But not today. It’s my babby-free day. FCD wants to finish the work he’s doing in his shop, so we won’t be going to the marina. I’m going to do some Happy Homemaker chores - mostly cleaning both bathrooms and the kitchen. Not my idea of fun, but the crud level has exceeded my tolerance level. I’m thinking I’ll also strip our bed and do some general tidying. I don’t know what’s wrong with me - it’s not like we’re expecting company or anything… :confounded:

Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy and I offered to corral Tobias while Roxy and her mama go see the Minions movie (finally!!) Not sure what the rest of the weekend will hold. But since I’ll be down that end of town, I’ll run to WalMart for another box o’ kitteh litter - durn kittehs insist on peeing and pooping every single day!!! What’s up with that??

For the moment, tho, morning quiet and caffeination.

Happy Firday!!

I’m pretty sure all three of my pets excrete their body weight regularly. Seems like I’m scooping the box more than 2x as often now that Buddy’s moved in. He still insists on going out for a few hours a day, but seems to be shortening the amount of outside time he demands. I’m good with that, I want him indoors more.

I routinely threaten Monkey that imma quit feeding him every day. Would cut down on yhr food bill AND the litter scooping - two birds, one stone (or empty food bowl).

Good morning, everyone.

Yesterday was muggy as all get out. The sun popped out for a bit, but it was mostly cloudy and really uncomfortably muggy. The air felt thick and it just continued overnight. It’s muggy again.

In other news, I must have bumped my head because I stupidly agreed to be the acting AED for another state, as well as the state I service. The current person is on a 120 detail and there were threats of pulling her off, but I didn’t want that to happen because the work she is doing on the detail is her passion. So, I’m going to be even busier. I did state there had to be some boundaries and expectation management. For example, the supervisors need to be doing the paperwork for hiring. I’ll manage their budget, and I will certainly help walk them through HR stuff, but I’m not taking on the whole process. This is just one of many examples.

Basically, I’m going to be working a whole lotta hours, earning a ridiculous amount of comp time that I need to worry about burning up. I still need to burn up almost another two weeks of annual leave before the end of the calendar year and I don’t know how I’m going to do that.

The good thing about having a dog is that I don’t have to worry about scooping a litterbox. I don’t miss that at all.

Bright tree, it must be pretty cool to see that cougar, but yes, I wouldn’t suggest midnight strolls 'round the pasture. I’d like to get out of the suburbs; I’m sick of the noise and the neighbors so close to me. Maybe someday…

Well, time for some coffee. I spent far too long working on some computer issues this morning and it’s cut into my quiet time before starting work.

My friend’s mother actually did cut the dog’s food in half so the dog (not housebroken) would go less. Dog is now in breed specific foster. Mother has dementia and is now in assisted living.

Morning all. Pill popped and newspaper retrieved and I finally solved my crossword puzzle from Wednesday last night in bed, so today can start on a good note. Getting to 84F and a 50/50 chance of rain, so swimmin’ and soccer are on the agenda. May also stop at ‘snerk’ Dick’s ‘/snerk’ since I got a $20 coupon for refereeing so much in the spring.

Bright tree, weekly check-ins are permitted, but hope you have more time for the mundane and pointless things, like posting here. And having a cougar/puma/catamount/mountain lion as a close neighbor is… :astonished: Y’all (and the cougar too) be careful out there.

Taters, you are just one of those nice people who get taken advantage of…I know, since I was/is one too. Just hope the supervisors come through.

shoe, just remember; you are good at stuff. Always have been.

OK, need to do the Firday internettin’ and then find sustenance, so all y’all take care.

Tinker’s tea is made without using a tea pot, or these days without using a kettle. Normally it refers to the horrendously scandalous practice of putting the tea bag in cold water and then microwaving it. Or, very slightly less horrendously scandalous, microwaving water to heat it and then pouring over a tea bag.

Either is a hanging offence as far as I’m concerned

Well, I guess I’m a tinker, then!

(My system: sugar into an empty mug, then add water, so the agitation starts to dissolve it. Microwave for 1-2 minutes, then dunk tea bag into hot water.)

My preferred brand staples the “tail” string to the tag, so I’ve never trusted even that tiny bit of metal being in a microwave.

Sheets are out on the lines. Both bathrooms are clean and reassembled. I’m just waiting for the kitchen floor to dry so I can put it back together, then vacuum the rest of the house. Go me!!

The house is open, but I’m all sweaty - I foresee closing the windows soon. Dammit.

In Victorian times, this combo of phrases would have meant something quite different!

All the more need for pearls, maybe even smelling salts!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s a balmy 20c/68f and partly cloudy out there. Weather app says “It’s partly cloudy. What’s the other part? Fucking shame”.

nettie I hope you can get an explanation from your doc about the heart results, sounds like you’ve had some excellent advice from the lovely BBBoo already.

Bright Tree there’s no obligation to post in here every day, but if you leave for a couple of days we’ll worry about you! Even more so if you’ve got a mountain lion on your doorstep!

Taters are you sure there’s enough of you to go around? I thought you were overworked as is it, without taking on anything more when you need to be certain other people are going to pull their weight?

I’ll be joining in with the cat litter purchases, we’re almost out at home. I have the gym in the morning, then a hair cut so might detour via Pets at Home on the way back for the usual 75L collection of litter. I’ve got lunch out, errands and an eye test in the afternoon, then a gig in the evening so it’s going to be a very busy day.

shoe et al, your pets’ diet can make a difference on how much comes out the other end. I recall one ad that specifically used this for marketing purposes.

**bright tree **, the cougar sounds cool, but keeping good tabs on your pets is a good idea.

I took Dad over to the Amish store for cheese this morning and out to the cemetery to visit Mom’s and two of my brothers’ graves. He insisted on taking Nelson with us, so I got to wrangle getting Dad in and out of the car (my car is hard for a tall arthritic guy), his cane, his walker and a little dog on a leash who didn’t understand why he had to sit in the back seat. We managed that though and got back around lunch time. Dad and Nelson are napping now and the cleaning lady will be here soon. I may take a nap too.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Happy Firday, Mumpers!

Today is a lovely overcast day with predicted highs of 82F/28C. Perfect for a relaxed day of mostly whatever I feel like doing – which is not much. There’s laundry and a kitchen spiff in my future, nothing else pressing.

Oh, goodie! I aspire to be!

So glad to learn GG is enjoying his BRDoJ!

Thanks for your concern, truly, but I’m very used to them. I’ve lived in their habitat for nearly 2 decades and I respect it’s their home as much as mine. I see them more now due to no longer having outdoor dogs. I’ll never get a pic of one without putting out game cameras. By the time I realize it’s a cougar and not just a deer, there’s no time to locate and fumble with a camera.

We have a heavy bear population here, too. I make sure to not tempt the wildlife with careless handling of trash or other irresistible treats. I have a neighbor who once left a large pot of chicken stock out on her back porch to cool and found a Big Kitty slurping it down when she went to retrieve it. (!!!) So my trash is stored under lock and key and I don’t keep food items in my car – not even gum. Nothing like strolling out onto the back patio for a morning stretch and finding bear scat 2 feet from the door to keep you on your toes. I don’t sleep with the big windows open overnight, either.

Taters, I agree. It was uncomfortably muggy yesterday. It’s abated here today, yay. Hope it has for you, too. Bleah for more work! I hope it goes as smoothly as it can.

Shoe, good luck on the Gentleman Caller search. Petting cats and walking dogs – bonus!

BooFae, love the weather reports. And I’ll do my best to check in regularly. Enjoy the gig tonight – it will be your reward for doing all the Responsible Adult Life Things today!

missred, I always keep a close eye on my smaller pets when they’re outside. I’m fresh out of smaller pets just at the moment (not because of the cougar!), but I hope to remedy this appalling situation soon. I miss having furry companions. I hope you enjoyed a long, restful nap and the house is all clean by magic when you’ve awakened!

Off to get those kitchen chores done. Dinner of crispy-skinned baked chicken is already made except for roasting some green beans. I may make some fresh peach sauce to take to the ice cream social on Sunday. That will take a whole 10 minutes. So help me, I’ll get the mowing done one of these days, but at this time of year, I’d like to see a little moisture in the forecast first.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Firday!

Daughter’s stint as Big Cheese is already a challenge. She just had a teacher quit so she’s scrambling to find a replacement. The biggest problem is that they can’t afford to pay much, so they don’t get a lot of applicants. She will wind up teaching till they find a new teacher. On the plus side, since it’s a private school, they aren’t bound by the public school BS.

I’ve been in chillage mode, but I need to get the sheets off the line and remake the bed (not with the same sheets. I have several sets.) We went to Red Robin for lunch, so I don’t plan to make supper. We’ll forage.
