November 11 will mark 100 years since the end of the Great War.
I don’t know if it is 11:11 GMT or the time in France.
11 AM Paris time on November 11, 1918.
Thanks, Charm.
He ought the good fight, he finished the race…
I talked to my mom this evening… well, mostly listened while she talked. She leaves way early on Thurs and will get home Dec 2. Unless she’s abducted by Amazonian pygmies or something.
It’s still a bit drizzly and I am about to crash…
Worked, was busy, came home. Had a lady in a seersucker suit in the store tonight.
Because it is a Noble gesture?![]()
My condolences. The ones around here are bad enogh.
Pull.
:D:D:D
Thanks, George
is that a slight note of wishful thinking regarding mom ?:p:D
Pretty much. Durn Snowbirds bring their hose-hounds down my way, I tain’t givin up without a fight! ![]()
No. Just for some reasons the bigger the election the less likely people are to spend; especially larger or less than necessary things. A friend in retail all his life always planned vacations around Presidential elections. This is a freak mid-term ----- it actually counts to both sides a ton.
There is word among various merchants that there are going to be major pre-BF sales but I don’t know any specifics.
I DO!!! It is the only British thing I approve of!!! Other than Mumpers from there, of course. ![]()
Now it’s assless chaps. :smack: :smack: :smack:
Done it with the swivel. On doubles. If I ever get a smartphone and a YouTube site --------------
Hey – once you have fired a few dozen rubber chickens out of your cannon, anything sounds reasonable.
Vote day is coming.
I’m aware of that, I could hardly be not, to be honest; Remembrance Day, November 11th is a big event here in most years, but the run up to this years centenary started years ago.
It was just a really weird firework show- mixing solemn bits like playing ‘Last Post’ then jumping into a bit of Black Sabbath with stuff going ‘boom’, then a clip of Winston Churchill, then back to funky music… ![]()
Anyway, up earlyish for an extra day of irk. I can show up a bit late, 'cos I’ll be irking by myself and there’s no rush to get places clean before new people come in, the season’s over.
Just about to leave for work, and I can’t wait for it to be over. That’s because then I can go to the polls and vote and this crap, with all the ugly ads, will be over.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and already caffeinated, so no, YAWN I woke up stoopid early but felt well-rested. I pulled an all nightery, didn’t get up even once to pee! ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and cloudy (well, dark) with a predicted high of 81 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse threatened for later this mornin’/afternoon. We shall see. Looks like some ick stuff is comin’ in from the northwest accordin’ to the weather map. Today’s agenda includes laundry and goin’ to vote. I am sure there will be hordes of folks at the pollin’ place early as is the usual case. I shall go mid morningish as by then it will have settled down until late this afternoon when maraudin’ hordes of voters shall return. I vote at a fire station about a mile from da cave, so easy-peasy to get there and back. We shall sup upon beastloaf, green beans, mac 'n cheese and rolls.
{{{Spidey}}} feel better soonest.
Rumbly tummy wants sustenance so I shall feed. Then, since I am to go about the public to perform my civic duty, I shall purtify and don appropriate goin’ to the polls attire. I suffer so to be a good citizen!
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Up, caffeiated, and sheveled. Off to work, then to vote, then to drink beer to celebrate voting.
This needs a YouTube Channel!
Morning all. Will go vote later this morning and then meeting the Edward D. Jones lady regarding my finances. Nothing much else planned. Forecast is actually pretty nice, heading to 69F and no rain. The promised apocalypse for last night must have been diverted, because I heard no thunder to disturb my rest.
spidey, hope you get to feelin’ better.
Red, hope the washer recycles for you. Which reminds of the laundry I was supposed to do on Sunday…maybe today…
Cupcakes, it’s not over, you know; now starts the race for President in 2020…
There is Cinnamon Raisin bread waiting at the toaster. See all y’all later.
I’m here! I’m here! Don’t panic!!! Work was sans intrarwebz till a few minutes ago!
**shady **- not wishful thinking, just worst case scenario, since she’s going on a cruise down the Amazon (River, not .com)
And, for the record, “assless chaps” is redundant. Chaps don’t have asses. So unless the wearer has had an assectomy, they are merely chaps. You’re welcome.
Anyway, I’m at work, I’ll vote on my way home, and it’s rainy. That sums up my morning so far.
Happy Tuesday!!
Happy Toosday!
It’s raining, lots and lots of rain.
Yesterday was one hell of a frustrating day.
After trying multiple times to get my son enrolled in classes, getting the error message that it is past the due date to enroll, I called the college. I was told there was no problem with the system and the problem was that my son had not contacted his advisor and she had not checked the little box that would allow him to register for classes.
And the reason why the error message doesn’t say to contact your advisor would be…
No I didn’t say that out loud.
My shock overrode my snark.
So we call the advisor who tells us to send an email of what classes he wants to take. He picked out 6 and asked her advice which ones to take. We get approval, go back in, register and
ERROR!
Only one class is accepted because the other three have prerequisites.
Why it can’t say that in the class description so you know before you try to enroll…
Now we have a problem. My son needs 39 credits to graduate, and of those 39, 36 have to be upper division 300 or above classes. All the prerequisite classes are 100s and 200s. So the advisor sends back a list of classes (in business) that he can take
and
only one of those is offered in Hagerstown.
So now my son has to decide either stick with the business major and stay in college longer or change his major.
I think he should major in Engish and writing, he is a good writer.
It also doesn’t help that he wants to take online classes only. That is not going to work.
Then I get a call from a mortgage company that wants me to refinance. I heard them out, as best I could with the dog and cat fighting in the background. They made me an offer, I am already approved, or preapproved, and now I have to make a decision. I aso found out through them that my current payment is going up, taxes and insurance. Later in the day I get the letter from mortgage company telling me so.
I also found out the credit sesame and credit karma don’t know jack about credit scores. They both have me lower by 70+ points than my real score.
Then as soon as I hung up with them I got a call from another mortgage company. I lied and told them that I had just accepted an offer with another company. They lied and told me that is was about something else. So I listened a bit to what he had to say, only English was not his first language and he kept saying my house was worth x dollars (about 50% higher than the actual value) and I kept saying no, it is worth y dollars. Back and forth we went until I laid out the numbers in order, he was transposing them, and then he rudely said nevermind and hung up on me.
This is what happens when you answer the phone.
Then my son was asking if and when I was making dinner, and I thought oh shit I have to make the shrimp today that I didn’t make yesterday so off to make dinner. Only the dishes in the dishwasher didn’t get clean (again) and I had to rewash them, and the ground beef for his tacos wasn’t thawed, and the bag of shrimp had a hole in it (again) and I dripped shrimp water all over the kitchen floor, and the dog wants out until he sees the rain, and the cat wants in and he keeps bugging me to feed him because I dumped a jar of cat treats in with his food and even though his bowl is full he wants more food so he can pick out the treats.
Bad day for OAOASO to ask for a favor.
The answer is no, the answer is always no, you’d think by now he’d stop asking, but hope springs eternal in the hearts of dumbasses.
Howdy Y’all! Laundry is launderin’, beastloaf is made and ready for bakeage later, and I have voted. I’m all about the adult today!
This is worthy of embroidery on a throw pillow! ![]()
Did these men have assectomies?
Somewhat better…after about 16hrs in bed(!), which was more than I had in the past three days, combined!
Heaving a sigh of relief that campaign commercials will be stopping. Also, cease sending me mailers, campaigners. I’ve voted. In weather related news, the forecast calls for “unsettled weather.” Which means gray, windy, and rainy.
Yanno, Spidey, I wondered if someone would leap to that conclusion. You did not disappoint.
