It's Pouring Rain in the MMP

Come on down. Looks like it is going to be a group of freedom and opportunity.

Agreed, Boo. Anybody who’s ever had an itch–bug bite, allergies, poxy stuff, whatever–an automatic member. We might have to give you a special medal for the fire ant thing, Wheelz. That sounds brutal.

I was the bad Mumper. My editorial comment was not necessary. I know zoos do good work, but every time I go to one (and the last one I went to was a butterfly garden, along with a few animals), I am annoyed by the rude people who don’t want to share the exhibits. And none of the places in Switzerland are AZA accredited. :frowning:

And I didn’t even get the animal correct. It was a lemur that was stolen. And he’s home!

It’s all good, ‘Trix. I was just about to post that Maki has been found!!! Great news!

Very nice. I think my mother has those placemats as well.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to sort.

Yay!

Nettie, EEK! Glad you’re OK, apart from the nerves.

Good Morning Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and fair (as opposed to unjust?) with a predicted high of 80 and N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is mowage over to the church house. We must needs get it all done today as tomorrow mornin’ there will be a memorial service for my friend Carole. I have ush duty for that. It will be a small group of people followed by an outdoor reception. Other than mowage, I foresee chillage for the day. Sup shall be chikin nachos. YUM!

Remember how I said that we would do yahd irk stuff yestiddy? Didn’t happen. No real reason other than the fact that we are retired, didn’t want to, didn’t have to, and nobody could make us. Oh well, one day next week for sure.

Nettie YIKES! Glad y’all are safe.

Wheelie yay for Maki bein’ found!

Hope all you with the itchies are better today.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, I suppose I should make myself somewhat presentable to show up in public although I don’t have to look exactly good. Grass does not care how one looks.

Happy Firday Y’all!

I’ve had them for-freekin’-ever! Don’t even recall where I got them, and several are really ratty looking. But they save the table cloths, and even tho they’re not the prettiest any more, they work. I should think about getting new ones.

It started raining overnight and it continues. Perfect day to take Roxy to the museum. And crap - I just this second realized that I left my favorite mask out on the clothesline overnight, so it’s soaked. I’ve got others, but I like that particular one. Oh well…

Apart from going to see the fish, no real plans for the day. But the alarm just went off and I need to fetch the child.

Happy Firday!!!

Okay. Tuna salad recipes needed, please.

Tuna, mayo to taste, chopped celery, pickle relish to taste and I like to throw in a dash or two of red pepper flakes. Spread on a sandwich, stuff a tomato or just eat out of the bowl with Bugles.

Laved, shaved and ready for counseling. Oh, and I’ll probably teach a couple of classes while I’m at it. Happy Frigg’s Day everyone!

Setting a timer would’ve been way smarter. On the upside, overlyhusband called me and asked me about it, so the chickie did not spontaneously combust. 'Twas decent, though a tad overdone (though better over than under).

Today’s tale of woe (stay with me here): A couple of weeks ago - actually, the same day overlygirl broke her wrist - I was at home, cleaning like a mad woman. I grabbed an electric pressure cooker from a table in the basement and whirled around, intending to put it away. Well, I whirled around right into a rather hard, load-bearing post. All the impact was to my index finger. After cursing for a while, I shrugged. The digit began to swell, but I assumed it was a bruise. Fast forward to last night and I happen to notice a rather substantial bony lump at the impact site.

“Hmmm,” says I. “I probably outta get that checked out if it doesn’t go away.”

“No way,” says overlyhusband. “If you’d get it checked out for the kids, get it checked out for yourself. And I don’t mean next month, I mean tomorrow.” So I’ll be going to the walk-in orthopedic clinic to get it looked at this afternoon. My guess is that I broke it instead of bruising it and it’s forming a bone callus. It seems absolutely ridiculous to have it looked at, given that it’s smack in the middle of one of my index finger bones so I can’t imagine any treatment without surgery, but I guess that, on the off chance the damn thing splintered, I should have it looked at. Also, I’ve been avoiding having that hand checked for arthritis, so maybe I’ll get a two-fer.

sigh Drinkin’ my coffee, thinking thunderous thoughts.

This! Though I usually add a squeeze of mustard for tang and a tiny bit of minced onion.

So it’s raining as I go to work, got my overcoat on, and the jazz station on the car radio. It felt like something out of a 1930’s detective novel:
I came to on the slightly sticky floor of Joe’s Bar, with 4 shots in me. One .45, and 3 rye. Rosita the bartender was standing over me. She had a crush on me, she always refered to me as her ‘pendejo’…

Tuna, mayo, chopped hard boiled egg, pickle relish. Served on toasted white bread.

Hope you didn’t wreck the hand too bad, wordy

Morning all. Trash can and newspaper have been collected (the trash is normally picked up on Thorsday, but the trash guys apparently get Columbus day off, so they came early this morning). Some soccer planning stuff done and practice with the girls tonight. Temp is 56F and only getting to the mid 60’s, so fall is definitely in the air.

wheelie, good news on the missing Lemur. Soounds like whoever did the theft got cold feet due to the publicity and let him go.

Nettie, :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: Sounds like you folks need to start looking for alternatives to housing…

wordy, yeah, best to have it checked, husband-unit is right.

butters, good news on the infection, hope your husband-unit takes the Drs. advice on water and PT and gets his appetite back.

FCM, enjoy the fishies!

Swampy, enjoy mowage. My yard is planned for Sunday. And best wishes for your friend’s Carole’s service.

nellie, hang in there.

OK, need to forage for sustenance and do at least some cleaning. All y’all have a good Firday.

Yay for Maki getting home!

Well, no, because AZA is the American association  - the European equivalent is EAZA, and there are several members in Switzerland.

Sign me up for the itchy club please- the lifetime full body eczema class.

Glad it’s Firday today, and only one more week 'til skool holidays, when I get a week off. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed I’ll be able to go stay with friends for a few days.

Back from the museum/aquarium adventure. We walked thru most of it three times, made 2 visits to the stingray and skate tank, climbed to the mezzanine twice, and went out to see the otters once, but it was pouring, so we didn’t stay out long. She should be exhausted, but I’ve been trying for the last hour to get her to lie down and nap. She’s in a mood…

Executive decision has been made - we’re ordering Chinese for supper. So nothing really to do till then. I suppose I could unpack some more boxes…

Well, I got the chair part way fixed. I figured out where the little bolt belonged and replaced it. Now the chair sits level. But there’s still something disconnected in the footrest mechanism. Bother.

I make tuna salad pretty much like everybody else: Tuna, mayo, celery, pickle relish or chopped up sweet pickles, finely diced onion. Sometimes I put in some roasted red peppers or paprika. Now I want tuna salad.

I have two thngs I want to do today, mow the lawn and go to the grocery store. When I put the pups out a little while ago they came back with wet feet, so I guess I’ll put on going about the public clothes and do the groceries first.

Y’all take care.

Mid-day Basement School report: Hattie and I are watching “Lion King” snuggled up under a blanket on the couch. Disney is the safest bet to keep said 3yo engaged and not running upstairs to pound on her mom’s office while said mom is conducting a company-wide legal training on Zoom. Most of the time it’s ok or cute when a kiddo dashes into the spare room, er, office and clambers up into parental unit lap, this is not one of those times. Grandma has to be very vigilant because there ain’t no way I can run up the stairs as fast as Harriet can, especially if she gets a head start.

3 servings of cottage cheese, blueberries, backyard cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and pears for lunch. This child needs her own Guernsey when it comes to cottage cheese.

Someday I hope Roxy can show Hattie around the Maritime Museum. We Grandmas can follow at a distance and document with our cameras how perfect they both are. Otters are a big favorite of mine. Our little Lincoln Children’s Zoo has a cute little band of them as well as a gang of small penguins. We have to go all the way to Omaha for an aquarium with mantas and skates (and sharks! oh, boy!).

Hope everybody’s itchies are being calm.

Boo

Happy Firday!

It looks pretty outside but I haven’t been out since early this morning. We left the park early because nobody else was coming today and I was cold.
I didn’t sleep so well last night and didn’t feel like getting up this morning anyway.

Don’t know what is going on with Echo, she is not herself today. I’d normally blow it off, we all have off days, but now it just adds to my worry. She goes back to the vet on Thorsday for an urinalysis and sonogram. And yes, Butters, it’s the same amyloidosis. Shar pei are prone to it, but it’s usually in conjunction with FSF (familial shar pei fever, which is similar to FMF, familial mediterranean fever, in humans). She has never had a fever episode.

I’m glad Maki came home. I don’t understand stealing animals. Wth are you going to do with an exotic animal, most people are in not way, shape, or form equipped to care for one.
Somebody stole one of my dogs once. He asked for him and I said no, then he offered me money for him and I said no. Then my dog disappeared. A year later my dog showed up out front, barking at the gate, and as I let him in I saw the asshole speed off. My poor dog was 20 pounds overweight, which is a lot when you consider his normal weight was 20 pounds. He could barely walk, and his paws were all bloody, I guess from escaping from his dog napper and coming home.

Nettie, I say get out as soon as you can.
I think I have never told the story of what made me finally decide to move from Baltimore.
Long story involving guns, drugs, and a Jamaican drug lord.

I need some lunch, and to check on Echo, and to get some other stuff done around here.

The Benadryl wears off before I wake up, and it takes a long time for me to get it back under control–not vanquished, but controlled. I’m going to have to look for time-release stuff. The latest development: my lower respiratory tract feels itchy/irritated. It hadn’t occurred to me this could affect my insides. Why isn’t the prednisone working?

Tuna salad, which, BTW, I had last night: tuna, hard-boiled eggs, celery, mayo. No onion, pickle, or any of that good stuff because Mom didn’t make it that way.

wordy, the same thing happened to my daughter when she was a kid, except it was a car door instead of a pressure cooker. I didn’t take her to the ER because a) it had happened before, and x-rays had shown no break b) she could move it c) she said it didn’t hurt that bad. Weeks later, she had a bump, so I took her to the doctor. She’d broken it, and the bump was a calcium deposit, which the doc said would gradually resolve. It did. Hope yours is that simple.

nut, sorry about the eczema. Welcome aboard.

Gee, what an itchy world.

boo, otters are a big favorite of my daughter’s, too. She loves that they hold paws while sleeping so they don’t drift apart. When she got married, she had her cake topper custom made: two otters holding paws. (It’s working: 8 years and still blissfully holding paws.
