It's Pouring Rain in the MMP

Roxy took a 3 hour nap, waking just as her mama got here. They’ve gone home. I’ve brought in the laundry and put it away. We’ll be having veggie-beef-noodle soup for supper - it’s almost thawed, and I’ll heat it up old school - on the stove.

Tomorrow, Roxy and I will go to the Marine Museum. It’s supposed to be rainy, so a good day to be inside looking at fish. Beyond that, not much else on my agenda.

Soothing thoughts to all your itchies! Worst I have to deal with is dry skin itchies, and lotion takes care of that in short order.

I’m now fantasizing about tuna salad. I love tuna, but I make it rarely because no one else in my immediate family will eat it. Hmmm, maybe I’ll make some and take it to my mom.

Also, I’m thinking about the chicken I plan to roast for dinner. Hopefully overlyhusband will remember to take it out before it bursts into flame this evening. I’m visiting with my mom for a bit after work and OH is not culinarily (a word?) inclined. Chicken and some mashed potatoes should make up for the veggie straws and dill dip with a side of chocolate morsels I had for lunch.

The NP phoned in an Rx for a topical steroid cream I’ve used before and am out of. It’s only minimally effective, but I’ll take what I can get. She said she’d consult the dermatologist again. I’m going to throw on itchy clothes and head to the pharmacy soon. Maybe getting outdoors will lift my spirits. Feeling a little overwhelmed with everything right now.

BUT on a happier note, I got a nice surprise! My health insurance company sent me a “wellness box.” Oh, the swag! Big bottles of sunscreen and hand sanitizer, thermometer, eyedrops, various bandages and antiseptics, face masks, lots of toothpaste, and on and on. I estimate the retail value at about $90. I suppose strictly speaking they’re not freebies, since they must come out of premiums, but I don’t care. I take my surprises where I can get 'em.

You know, Sari, maybe Echo and WetOne and I should have a support group for itchy people. Oo! We could call ourselves the Bitchin’ Itchers! I’d go with the breeder on the likelihood of amyloidosis. When will you get the test results?

Dagnabbit, now I want tuna salad.

Dining room curtains are up.

You’ll have to click on the pic for the full effect. but we’re pleased. All that remains now is the living room bow window.

The Little Rock Zoo has a lemur exhibit on an island. A baby fell into the water and drowned. Mama went through a keeper’s pockets looking for her child. It was very sad. PETA jumped all over them. I bellieve there is a fence in place now.

My parents dragged me with them to Cotter to fish for rainbow trout. I still hate the sound of zippers; people coming out of sleeping bags in the tent, about to drag me out into the cold to perform my bodily functions.

Me too? At least in the junior auxiliary? I’ll bring the lidocaine gel. And the rum. We’ll still itch, we just won’t care as much.

I’m in for the Itchies Bitchies!

Did the Cetaphil not do anything for you Nellie? I’m really sorry. It works for me, some, but everybody’s different.

Wifey got a bunch of checks she wasn’t expecting from the unemployment people today. :grinning: She’s not sure she was supposed to, but I deposited them for her anyway.
We also got our ballots, so we have that to look forward to tonight or tomorrow.

In other news: my recliner broke. It was sitting cockeyed and acting funny so I tipped it up and two halves of a little bolt that was sheared in half fell out. I’ve been trying to figure out where it (they) came from. I suppose I could just continue to sit in it, kinda kattywampus, or else try to get rid of it. I don’t think goodwill will take it.
We’ve got a rocker in storage we can put in it’s place, or a very old Stickley-type chair.
But it’s kinda rickety, and Wifey doesn’t like it. I do, but my opinion doesn’t count. :Sigh:.

Oh, we got our senior citizen flu shots yesterday. Had to drive to the next town over to get 'em 'cause everybody in our town was out of them and only had the regular flu shots. They run out early every year. You’d think they’d figure it out and order more of the HD shots to begin with, but they don’t. The dummies. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Wifey went to the doc, who didn’t have any answers for her except to go on a bland diet for a little while, so that’s what we’re doing. Dinner will be pork steaks and some kind of vegetative matter.

Talky, do you have some sort of alarm thingee you could set to remind OverlyHusband to take the chickie out?

I should go do something.

I hope that they find Maki unharmed wheelie.

Even though you may not be reading this, have a good time fishing hippy.

I got about half of my Jungle order this afternoon doggio.

I irked late, which I’ll be doing on and off for a while until we get the old bat’s position backfilled and s/he is up to speed. I’s tahred.

In the past seven days, I’ve had the windows open with no heat/AC, the windows closed with no heat/AC, closed up with either heat or AC and this evening, I put the vaporizer out to try to lessen the itchy throat (figure even with allergies, a dry throat is apt to be more irritated. With all of the extra benedryl, I’ve lived sleepy for the last few days. I need a grizzly nap.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Evening all. Soccer has been practiced, the kids weren’t too rambunctious tonight and we got a few things accomplished. Couple of dads like to have their kids do some running after practice, so I stayed until they were ready to go.

BLT’s with the LT have been consumed and TV and internet and reading will take care of the balance of the night.

Bumba , I concur, bank the money now, if you have to return it later, you can always withdraw it. And good luck with the recliner replacement.

FCM, drapery looks nice. And Yeah on Roxy’s checkup.

nellie, nice job by your insurance company. Blue Cross sends me lots of brochures, but nothing useful like that.

Sari, don’t get upset unless you’re given reason too. Sounds like the vet is doing the tests needed, her speculations don’t count for much…

Wheelie, the change in zoos and their treatment of the animals within has changed drastically since the 1960’s when I visited my first zoo (Cleveland). And for the better.

wet one, I don’t much like shots anyway, and you’re way above my average. Take care and don’t let the workage get you down.

Butters, glad Daughter is coming back, I think you and husband-unit both can use her being there.

All y’all have a great night.

Hey, membership in the Bitchin’ Itchies is open to anyone who itches. No dues, and the rum is on Boo. (Just kidding, Boo. We want you for your own self.) WetOne, you and Red (if she wants) are, of course, welcome. Everyone else, I’m really glad you don’t qualify for your sakes.

In another happy development, a local friend sent me a card that said “It’s OK to ask for help.” I’m feeling blessed to have friends who know me so well.

I went to three different pharmacies, and none of 'em had the Cetaphil with oatmeal, but don’t be sorry! I did get some Aveeno lotion with oatmeal the other day. (I got Aveeno “balm” earlier–too sticky.), and it seems to help slightly. I wouldn’t have tried it if you hadn’t recommended the Cetaphil. I’m hoping all the slight-helps will achieve critical mass, and I’ll get more relief.

RIP on the recliner:

Now you bunch have me wondering if they make camo lamé curtains, possibly with sequin trim.

Irk was irksome as usual, nothing big or interesting going on really.

Is there such a thing as a short-term membership? I’m useful as a permanent designated driver :).

Got chomped on by a mosquito on the way to irk this morning. It is OCTOBER, dammit!!! Little bitch got me about three times, going by number of lumps.

So the HVAC fan crapped out after 10+ years. On the bright side, I don’t have to pay for replacement(yay renting1), and the weather isn’t unbearably horrible.

Pretend you’re a voodoo doll for someone you dislike.

I love tuna salad. I’ll share with you!

Yay for healthy RoxStar! Boo out of stock camo curtains.

Holy bleeping bleepity bleep!!! There was apparently an EXCHANGE of gunfire ca. 40 minutes ago in my parking lot. On NextDoor, someone from the neighboring condo/townhouse complex reports knowledge of someone having been shot and being taken away for medical attention. Crime scene tape in the parking lot and police swarming about. I think I overheard the nice young lady next door telling an officer she’d heard a car peel out (DH and I missed that). All of my household are physically intact, but with rather frayed nerves (except Misty, she seems as calm as Ava was). No broken windows, nice baby police officer assured me he had checked cars in the area we park in and ours was fine. (OK, he had to be a legal adult, but he looked awfully young to a woman in her 50s.)

Not only can you be a short-timer, but we’ll put a contract out on that little bloodsucker.

Hubs had visit with infectious disease doctor and was pronounced infection free. Pic line removed. Dr told him the dizziness will subside if he drinks lots of water. I am throwing out a pile of IV meds and giving the visiting nurse the line sets and accoutrements including the second IV pole that was never unboxed. Such a waste. But happy to be done with that and to have done it right, I guess.

I told hubs we will now concentrate heavily on the PT portion to get him back mobile. He is skin and bones. I have decided I won’t force him to eat and the nurse said his appetite may return after the vancomycin gets out of his system. I did not leave the county so I can go back to irk on Moanday YAY.

I don’t know what the plan is involving daughter and grand coming back. That plan will be made by Sat as they will drive then the granddaughter will fly back. She smokes a lot of pot and hubs is very against it. I don’t care as long as she doesn’t smoke inside. She is 22 so an adult.

I hope Maki Gets returned safely and that Echo is OK. Amyloidosis was what one cardiologist suspected hubs had. Is it the same?

No prime packages for me. I am on a savings kick and ain’t buying anything ever again except one baby gift. And a new house when and if hubs leaves me to go to heaven. I can buy a much bigger house with fenced yard for way less in lower Al/FL/GA and live off the proceeds of the house I have now. The Keys are very expensive. I have found one I really like in Alabama but more north than I would like. I have thin blood from living here so long. But I will immediately ready this one for sale and work until it sells and quit my job and be a slug. Maybe.

Note an old home care nurse: if the nurse doesn’t take bake the meds, don’t throw them out in the trash or flush them. Take them back to the pharmacy they came from to dispose of safely. Meds, especially things like vancomycin, are a big problem if they get into the landfill or water supply. If the pharmacy that sent them is hard for you to get to, call any nearby pharmacy and ask about their ‘take back’ program, virtually all of them willingly provide this as a community service.

So glad husband is doing better! Hope you both get to enjoy putting some pounds back on him.

I get itchy calves now and then for no apparent reason. I think it’s because I got bit by fire ants about a decade ago. Looked it up and the toxin only lasts a couple days, but I suspect my immune system still remembers and reacts at random times.

While I’m sure my discomfort is no match for Nellie and some others, I could be a part-time member of the club. I just like to belong.
