keeping the MMP score: rosie 5, swampy 4

That would be me. I don’t like the seasonings, I’m not a big fan of shredded salad matter, and frankly, it looks like a messy evolution. So you can have my share.

Home with a fried brain. I spent the day fixing slides. Yes, a senior GS-13 engineer spending hours and hours playing Power Point Ranger. Kill me now. And I get to do more tomorrow, making sure the notes on the slides are the same as the appropriate columns of the spreadsheet. Just about everything I do could be handled by a competent clerk-type person, but we don’t have any of those lying around at work. Just a bunch of engineers, scientists, and mathmeticians.

Your tax dollars at work.

In other news, daughter and I will be making stuffed cabbage tonight. We’re doing a Polish pot luck at work, and I picked the easier option. Homemade pierogi is waaaaaaay too much work for the schmucks on my team! I’ve got the rice cooking right now, and shortly, I’ll get the water boiling so I can separate the cabbage leaves. It’s going to be a messy night.

RIP, Petercat. Them little furballs really lay claim to your heart, don’t they?

That’s all I’ve got for now. Except to say that it should be Friday. :frowning:

Howdy Y’all! Quick driveby. Haven’t read the most recent posts yet but will in a bit.

Gotta get a chicken pot pie out of the oven in a few and make some calls about linin’ up everything for the big fish and chips supper at church on Firday night.

Back in a while!

I was looking through the Mumper’s recipe blog and saw SmartAleq’s name and got to wondering where she went. Did she say at some point that life was getting busy? Or did she just disappear?

I need birthday cake advice…

Would it be dorky to have something like “Fifty is sew nifty!” or “Sew far, sew good!” put on a cake for someone turning 50 who sews?

Dibs on Moooooom’s share of the tacos.

taxi, IIRC SmartyPants was one of the ones we lost during the Big Splintering last year. She pops in from time to time and I’m pretty sure she even popped into the MMP for a quick hello a couple of months ago, but I think she spends most of her time on one of Them Other Boards.

In case anyone cares, I officially and thoroughly despise Access. We never had a cordial relationship, but after today’s synchronization headaches, I officially hate its guts. It’s totally not invited to my next party.

Also, must stop eating Veggie Thins. Damned crackers are coated in crack, I tell you… I’ve been steadily munching for the past 15 minutes, and I’m still jonesing for another handful.

ETA: gotti, I vote for awesome. Maybe a little bit dorky, but in a totally awesome sort of way.

Yes.

Will you stop dragging your knuckles when you’re done?

{{{Spaz}}} RIP PeterCat. He had a long, full, happy, love-filled life.

gotti yep, corny as all get out but I love it. I say go for it!

Dindin is et. Calls are made. The Fish and Chips Doin’s is comin’ together nicely. I have found the best way to organize stuff is:

  1. Volunteer to head it up
  2. Delegate
  3. Profit

Works everytime!

(((Spaz)))

sigh It’s cold over here and I don’t want to do anything. Why is it always nice when I go to class but when I get out it’s dropped five degrees? It’s bad enough that I had to carry shoes in case I decided to go to the cafeteria*, I shouldn’t have to carry a coat too.

I haven’t worn shoes hardly at all this week. It’s lovely. I even walked through the reflecting pool in front of the library. =^_^=

  • there are signs up in the cafe saying that you have to wear shoes. I haven’t tested to see if they’d notice.

I have atopic dermatitis. Joy. NP (not a doc) says I need to take tepid showers or baths. It is to laugh. But I got some good drugs (ointment) and lots of free samples. I hope it works–I don’t like the itchy.

My day off wasn’t as much fun as I thought it would be. I did learn I could never have been a super-model or even an ordinary model, despite not being 5’10" and 110 pounds. I don’t have the right attitude or personality or something. I felt more like a deer in the headlights than anything else. And the photos weren’t even about me, but about my friend getting the effects he wanted.

**rigs **- I despise being photographed. I never look like I look to myself in my head. And I’m too self-conscious. No fun.

Daughter and I made a metric buttload of stuffed cabbage - some for the potluck at work, some for dinner at home. Both pans are cooling on the stove right now before being crammed into the fridge when I go to bed.

I’d tahred. I’m going to do my jigsawaday then hit the rack. Wish I could call in tomorrow - I do *NOT *want to go play with slides all day again. ick.

I’d rather eat tacos any day than stuffed cabbage.

Well, tonight my cousin and I attended water aerobics together. It was lots of fun! We worked pretty hard. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be able to move. :stuck_out_tongue:

So sorry about PeterCat, Spaz; many hugs for you.

Phones and computer finally back up by 10 am; I also got in to see the Optical dr. today; I have cataracts and got a referral to the opthamologist for cataract surgery. It’s good to have an answer to why my vision has gotten blurry, even though now I’m scared about eye surgery.

Good news about the kidlet afghans, FCM. Hope you’re feeling better this evening, gotti; sending good thoughts your way.

Two down, three to go!

Sorry about Petercat, Spaz. Hugs.

Ooh, I’ve had vendors like that, taxi. I’m always surprised to see what they (un)wittingly reveal.

I know a bunch of people who have had really good experiences with cataract surgery, tarra. They make it sound like a miracle.

Excellent organizational plan, swampy.

Are you using Access 2007, yet, Muppet? If not, it will comfort you to know that…it’s actually worse. I can handle what they did to the rest of Office, but they managed to hide a number of items in Access.

Well, rigs, at least now you know that you wouldn’t have been happy as a model even if that had been a career option. That’s something. Right?

gotti, dearest, you ARE aware that today is Tuesday, so the weekend has been over for more than 24 hours…?

I like both tacos and stuffed cabbage. (But probably not in the same meal.)

Note to self: You really have no need to EVER buy another note card. Ever.

So, any bright ideas about how to use/unload scads of note cards? Between various charities who insist on sending me cards (despite my failure to be guilted into making donations) and cards I’ve purchased myself, I have more than a lifetime supply. I have a few people I should really send cards to more regularly (Mom, uncle, even FarAway Best Friend), but other than that, I really don’t need all the cards I have (and also, I’m sure I’ll want to acquire different ones at some point). I suspect I’ll wind up donating many of them to a good cause at some point, but was trying to think of something creative to do with them. I still have a bunch of orphan cards and envelopes, but I think I’m almost done organizing them. Yeah, my life is THAT exciting.

Watched the Olympics a bit while I was organizing. Not that exciting.

Guess I’ll knit and watch something online now.

Hugs.

GT

I get self-conscious too. I hate the way I look when I smile, so I try to go with a smirk, which looks a lot more like me.

… I don’t want to start my homework!

vrooooooom

Hi!

{{{{{spaz}}}}} Here’s to Petercat. raises glass I am so sorry.

Bye!

vroooooooooom

I’ve decided to skip an early meeting tomorrow. Sue me. I’m an ad hoc member anyway.
I should be in bed, but am wired for some reason. It’s getting COLD out there–the thaw is over. High of 20 tomorrow. It is nice to have the sun, though–on the way to work and on the way home. I am starting to be eager for green shoots, though…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN

Herbs I always hear good stuff about cataract surgery. Like gt I always hear how much better everyone can see like it’s a miracle.

Today’s forecast is rainy and cool. However, I am promised sunny and upper 50s Friday which is a good thing. I’d rather fry fish outside but I do have a contingency plan to fry indoors if necessary. Besides the obvious reason of bein’ less smelly, to me fish is better when it’s fried outdoors in an outdoor (duh!) cooker.

Happy Wednesday Y’all!

Swampy, how do you make chicken pot pie? Is it just a dish full of chickeny goodness with pastry on top or is there more to it? Enquiring furriners want to know!

rigs, I also despise being photographed, to the point where my friends used to post pics from parties on their own sites and I’d email them asking to have pics of me removed. I’m not quite as bad now, but I don’t willingly pose for any kind of pics.

Nothing exciting going on here, but it’s Wednesday and that means it’s beerverage night. Woo and hoo!

Well, up here it’s been snowing for several hours. I want spriiiiiiiing!

I should be writing a paper, but low air pressures give me migraine :frowning:
