keeping the MMP score: rosie 5, swampy 4

Hugs for Spaz.

Waiting for friend so we can go get dinner. So. Hungry.

Sitting in the mall waiting for my grilled chicken and salad lunch. My starting measurements, for posterity and for future reference: 42-37-46. Blaaggghhhhh! I am getting healthier and slimmer every day. I am getting healthier and slimmer every day.

(((Spaz)))

I’m a bit blurfy here this morning. Hope it passes.

So, we had our Purim* party at work this morning… I have to say, I think it’s probably different from what most people would consider acceptable in a US work environment. First of all, alcohol was served. During work hours. **Lots **of alcohol… And skimpy costumes (including some cross dressing). And dancing…

I decided to wear a minimalist costume – a white t-shirt, sweat pants, baseball cap and a tennis racket. A tennis player.
Of course, following the assassination in Dubaiand very shortly after that an Israeli tennis player participating in a tournament there, everyone decided I was an undercover hit man  So I obliged by hanging the racket off my shoulder like Tony Soprano would sling a violin…
And later found yet another use for it – Air Guitar!!

T’was fun.

  • For those too lazy to click, it’s basically the Jewish incarnation of the February/March “carnival” holiday, be it Carnaval, Mardi Gras, or whathaveyou.

Cite?

Actually, many pictures were taken, so be careful of what you wish for… Because you may get it!

I actually like being a PowerPoint Ranger, fcm! Although it does annoy me when I see how people have tried to “fix” things and it’s all wrong. Now if I could only get a job where they need a ranger.

noonie, I’m with sticky, show us the [del]goods[/del] pics!

dotty, you can do it! You have a toddler to chase!! Also, you might try bench pressing her. I hear that’s good for upper arm definition.

Mmmmmm, tacos…mmmmm, stuffed cabbage!!

Okay, I’m through procrastinating. Off to the job boards.

Tupug

I use this recipe. I substitute chicken, and I make the roux without the meat in it, then add to the veggies. I use chicken stock instead of boullion cubes, and I cut down on the amount of oregano. Typical recipe tweaking!

{{{Spaz}}}

Yay for getting started, Dotty!

Noonie, sounds like a fine time was had by all! I wanna see pics, too.

We had a little snow just north of Houston last night! Not at my house. I’ve had enoough of this cold weather. It should be springtime, dammit. We are about 10 degrees cooler than normal for the last few weeks.

I finished the drawing from hell yesterday, and now I don’t have anything to do. Feast or famine, I tell ya. I guess I’ll go ask if anybody needs help. I got the drawing from hell last time I did that! I’ll go in a minute.

I have four hours to finish something that should have been done, um, two days ago. I’m taking a break for breakfast then back to the grind. (It’s 7 am here. I’ve been up all night. I seem to be getting better at pulling all-nighters. I’m not sure that’s a good thing, but I always make sure I do it when I’m not going to have to be anywhere the next evening.)

I discovered that a while ago too. You get all the credit for the project but none of the hard work. Score! :stuck_out_tongue:

Herbs, my mom just had her second eye done for cataracts in January, and now she has 20/20 vision in both eyes. She was terrified going in for her first one (My grandmother had a really bad experience… but that was ~25 years ago! Cataract surgery has come a loooooooooong way in 25 years.) but it went really really well and she was seeing clearly within a day of the surgery. She still needs reading glasses, but otherwise she can see without glasses now.

I find stuffed cabbage to be too much work. My manager gave me a recipe for unstuffed cabbage, which is basically the same ingredients but all thrown into a pot together. Much less work and still tastes the same. That’s my kind of lazy dinner!

I’ve actually been thinking of adding taco seasoning to the unstuffed cabbage so someday I might try tacos + unstuffed cabbage in the same meal, gt! I’ll let you know how it turns out.

BooFae, if you want easy chicken pot pie, just combine cooked, cubed chicken, a bunch of frozen veggies (the mixed carrots, peas, corn variety is good here), and a can of cream of chicken soup in a pan. Add milk to get the right consistency on the sauce. Cook just enough to heat through. Put in a casserole/baking pan and top with either a premade frozen pie crust or biscuits (i.e. raw biscuit dough). Bake at ~350-375 until the pie crust or biscuits are cooked. Easy. My husband does prefer the made-from-scratch variety (like Rebo’s recipe) so I don’t do this easy version much any more, but it does work and is quick and easy. If you want a variation, these tarragon polenta chicken pot pies are wonderful. (I usually make that recipe in one big pan instead of little individual dishes like the recipe calls for.)

I love being photographed. I think I might be a bit self-centered.

You could send me some notecards, gt. :stuck_out_tongue: I don’t have any right now and I should write to my godmother and a couple other people more frequently.

I should start doing work now. Yippee.

Hugs to you Spaz. I’m so sorry.

I hate, hate, hate having my photograph taken. I always think I look like a fat dork.

I had the day from hell yesterday. Still felt pretty crappy, but I went on in to work anyway. This is when everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. I was here until 7:00 pm last night. To make matters worse, nothing that I needed to get done actually got finished. Our IT people decided clear a bunch of ad hocs I had run, so I had to rerun them. I spent over two hours in a dumbass VTC. Another system I was using to mine workload data was giving me partial results and nothing I did could fix it. People were emailing or calling every five minutes wanting something. I am the only one here dammit. I am one person.

However, the day did end on a very good note. As I pulled into my garage last night, I received a text message from my daughter. She made the Dean’s list for last quarter. I’m so proud of her. <----------=me beaming.

Today promises to be another hellish day, as I have to head off to yet another meeting for a dumbass, nutroll tasker from On-High. This stupid tasker is what took up my day yesterday.

Hugs and smooches to all. Gotta dash.

That was another piece of how bad the weekend was - it went into overtime and I wasn’t able to drop by for a visit on Monday.

Well, if I’ve been killed over the weekend, we’ll know that that was a bad thing to put on a birthday cake.

ETA: Forgot to mention on the (un)stuffed cabbage - DH just layers all the components out like a lasagna and bakes it. Far easier that way for a regular dinner.

Up caffeinated, off to work.

Middlebro’s surgery has gone well, I’ve just been on the phone with The Kidlet and Mom. The Kidlette could be heard on the background, giving her lungs a test (not crying, just making loud noises like prototoddlers do to check that they can).

I’ve been informed that The Kidlet went to Telepizza and got to help make the pizza. He poured the tomato and sprinkled ham. We have us a chef

Sorry for the long day Taters. BTDT, and it sucks, especially when the work’s not done at the end of a long day.

Yay for the budding chef, Nava!

They’re building out cubes here at work. Which is good because it’ll mean our groups get reshuffled and put into team units. (When we moved into this building almost 2 years ago, we were organized by team. But in the interim, people have switched teams, new people have been added, and the new people were stuck wherever there was room, not necessarily - and more often than not, not at all - with their teams. The work we do is very detailed and it takes new people a long time to get up to speed. So having a new teammate on the other side of the wing is inconvenient when they ask questions every 5 minutes. Having them in the next cube will be much better.) So the new cubes will be good. But the construction is NOISY! Ugh.

Manually trying to reconcile two spreadsheets, and it’s making my eyes go all wonky. I thought about automating the process, but it would require a nested IF statment that’s gives me the heebie-jeebies from even thinking about it.

Argh.

Allow me to once more re-iterate just how much I despise Access. If it had a mother, I’d call her and tell her to send her child to its room without dinner. That’s how much I despise it.

Howdy Y’all! Two down and three to go! WOOHOO!!!

Nava glad Middlebro’s surgery went well.

BooFae taxi gave my sooper ez chicken pot pie recipe away! Seriously, I can do it Rebo style, bit if lazy can do it, that’s what I do.

Tonight is soup and sammich night at church followed by Evening Prayer. I decided to get all religious like durin’ Lent and attend Wednesday services as well as do the Firday stuff. I’ll be able to light up town by my halo by the end of Lent.

I’m sorry, Spaz. They go too soon.

I’ve made it to my third day at the new job. I’m at the dangerous stage where I only **think **I know what I’m doing. So far, I really like it. It’s busy, but not harried and everyone is nice. I also like that I can come home for lunch.

Looooooooooove the home-for-lunch thing, Shadow. I sit in the sun with the cat and read a book… for all of about 15 minutes after I make and eat lunch, but it’s still really nice.

I just walked past an office with a sign on the door that, for half a second, I thought said “Please do not kick door” and I wondered how much of a problem that really is. Then I realized that it actually said “Please do not lock door” but I’m much more amused by the idea of professional employees going around kicking office doors.

Had to work about an hour and a quarter over today, but I think I hope that the project from the blackest depths of hell is finally done. There may be a few minor corrections, but I think the worst is over. At least I hope so.

taxi, I’ve heard about making unstuffed cabbage in a casserole - almost like lasagna - layering cabbage then meat mixture then cabbage then meat then cabbage on top. I may try that next time. Yesterday’s cook-a-thon was way too much work. But we’re eating the fruits of our labors tonight. Soon. When the microwave beeps!

There is yet another threat of evil white stuff for tonight and tomorrow. The last forecast I saw said our county would probably just get a couple-4 inches of slush - all temperature dependent. The big worry is the wind - there could be a lot of power lost. We shall see.

Someone at work said the Farmer’s Almanac was predicting a major storm in March. NO! We’re supposed to get our roof and windows and siding in March, dammit!!

I need chocolate. Stat.
