Rockin’ When you’re feeling a wee bit better, take a look at some You Tube videos on the best way to go up and down the stairs using crutches. Turns out there’s a right way and a wrong way. I took a tumble before I went ahead and took a look for videos. It was a bit counter-intuitive for me, but fairly straight forward once I found a few things to look at it. The videos really, really helped. Ignore the [del]nut job[/del] lady who just hops up and down the stairs in her cast without using her crutches at all. Even she falls down. :roll eyes:
Did the doc mention a scooter? If so, you can get them on Amazon for a reasonable price…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 91 and mostly sunny for the day. It’s also very dry out. The big plan for today is to go help JDD and Partner spiff up JDD’s Parents’ house and maybe go to Cheddar’s if’n we feel like it afterward. We plan on headin’ up around nine this mornin’. With four of us, we will probably be finished in a couple of hours. I had offered to do some yahd irk if needed but the yahd is fine bein’ as it was recently mowed and fallen pee-khan limbs picked up so no need for that. Fun day, huh!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day!
Big mess o’ rain headed our way - from the look of radar, it’s way-outer bands from Matthew. Precip is supposed to last most of the day and night. Our plans for today involved sorting the junk on shelves in the basement - some for goodwill, much for garbage. They we’ll move stuff from one of FCD’s shop shelves so he can open up some more floor space - we’ll put the shelf in the garage. He bought a small sand-blast booth and there’s just no more space to cram anything in. We need twice the basement that we have…
I kinda, sorta slept in till 7. Actually, I woke around 3:30 and didn’t fall back to sleep for at least an hour. Plus just as I fell asleep last night, the neighbor honked his horn and yelled at someone, so it took a while to drop off again. Anyway, bottom line, Higgs peed in the dining room, so after feeding her, I got to clean that up. Glad we have some Nature’s Miracle.
I checked and our BC/BS premiums are going up $20/month. The chart shows what the total premium is for self + spouse - over $1500 per month!!! :eek: But the gummint pays about 2/3 of it, so I guess we’re getting off cheap. Sorta. And really, considering all the surgicals my poor sweetie has endured, even the total premiums wouldn’t have covered the cost of one of his surgeries, let alone 3 this year. We’d have been screwed if not for the coverage I carried into retirement. It kinda makes up for having earned less than I could have in the real world. But dang!
Meanwhile, when my sweetie gets up, we’ll go grab breakfast before chores begin.
Ive been up since 4ish and have tried and tried to go back to sleep but it just isn’t going to happen.
We have rain, it’s gloomy outside, but it’s only supposed to last for one day.
The dog is restless and that doesn’t help me sleep. His blanket is in the washer waiting to be dried. I meant to hang it out yesterday and forgot, so today it goes in the dryer. The brat peed on it, I have no idea why, but whenever he has his ‘spells’ he does weird stuff. He has another blanket but he wants his blanket. I am embarrassed to hang it out it is so shredded and full of holes, but it’s comforting to him and I hate to throw it out.
They didn’t even send me home with crutches; these are a pair I had from a previous ankle-related disaster. I only had one crutch with me last night, so I had to hold onto the wall to keep my balance. Fortunately, the hallway is pretty narrow, so no worries there. The alternative is to crawl.
Sunny, I will definitely look at some of those YouTube videos. The local medical supply house rents knee scooters out for $30 a week or $65 a month, and since I’ll (eventually) be weight-bearing once the stitches come out, that’s the route I’m probably going to go with.
I spent last night upstairs because I was tired and feeling pretty lousy. I’m downstairs now, watching TV and waiting for Airman to fix breakfast.
I is outta bed, from which I flopped onto before 7pm last night. I’m not sayin’ my haid was stuffedupped, but iffn NOAA dropped me into the eye, the overpressure in my sinuses would have offset the low pressure in Matthew & it woulda been just drizzling w/ light & variable winds within about 30 seconds.
Woke up around midnight - oh $#!% - iffn I get up now, after a 5 hr nap, I’ll never go back to sleep, so I rolled over.
Woke up around 3am - well that’s 8 hrs (which is more than normal) - iffn I get up now, it’ll be a long day, so I rolled over.
Woke up around Dark:thirtyish - it’s just wrong to get up at this time iffn one has no where to be, so I rolled over.
Woke up a bit ago, the back was bothering me from lying down so long & mys tummie be a grumblin’. I do feel much better, good enough, that as of now, my planned activities for the day shall occur.
We just spent an hour in the basement, sorting thru crap which has been sitting for years. We’ve got a load for the dump. We’ve got a load for the thrift shop. And we’ve got space for FCD to move his aluminum supplies and his miscellaneous stuff from his shop to the back of my studio, freeing up a good big of floor space. One of his shelf units will go in the garage, and the other will go in the shed. Not this weekend, but eventually. So yay.
Meanwhile, it’s raining and dreary out. Good for nappage. Not sure whether I will or not. We shall see.
Howdy Y’all! Been a busy day. Glad I’m retired cause I’ll need next week to rest from all the weekend stuff. Anywho, JDD’s parents’ house is all cleanded up and we got rid of some old junk. We did not go to Cheddar’s bein’ as no one was in the mood to go anywhere but home. We shall save that adventure for another time. Now we’re in da cave, all showered and chillin’.
The rain continues - according to the weather channel, it will continue into the morning.
We’re trying to decide what to do for supper. I don’t wanna go out, but I don’t wanna cook. That kinda limits the options. We’ll probably go out. Maybe. Dunno…
I haven’t done much but nap off and on, lots of weird dreams.
The dog has his blanket back, so all is right in his world.

No idea about dinner here. We have a houseful of food so no excuse to order anything in. And Sah-son skipped his test again today, so we’ll have to go out tomorrow/ We’ll get something while we are out. I try to limit takeout/order in to one day a week.
Us Mumpers stick together when one is in need. Do you need me to come help you drink it before it gets warm?

You’d also like to know I was in a very nice orange & black jersey (though mine is #31) when I went to The (some bank with high sales quotas) Center & sat on the bench. Also had option to shoot on goal & sit in the penalty box, as well as shoot a basket & tour the visitors locker room. They also brought some of the banners down from the rafters so one could get up close & personal for pics with 'em. Way cool 20th birthday party for a building!
Stopped at the famous farmer’s market on the way home to acquire foodstuffs for dinner. Mine will be spicy lamb merquez snausages with peppers & onions; got Jamaican jerk chicken for the others. Got a bunch of green peppers that I’ll roast in the next few days. Theys is soooo much better than roasted red ones.
NG is going out partayin’ for her b-day tonight & I’m getting up very early (as long as I feel okay) to walk the aminal & take a class.
Good day to you all. Been catching up on the Trump News (and no, I don’t want to discuss him here. just that it takes hours to keep up with all the hoo-hah surrounding him).
Kids won their fifth soccer game 2-0, we had nine players and the other team had seven so I ‘loaned’ them one of mine each quarter and we played 8 v 8 (supposed to be 9 v 9). Problem is Ali-bama schools have a week-long fall break, and lots of folks take vacations during that time, so getting enough players for games can be tough…over half the games were cancelled this Saturday. Did referee one game and got home about 3PM.
