The tragedy of Unmade Wine. Oh, the humanity!
No, wait…
I’m there! Say the word, and I’ll make cinnamon rolls with raisins, too!
I just sent The Boy a reminder to fuel up after class today. He is usually good about keeping at least half a tank of gas in the truck, but a full tank is a good idea today. There was a gas pipeline break in Alabama last month, and AFAIK, it’s still affecting the local supplies. Some stations close to Savannah are already running out of fuel, 2-3 days before we expect to see any storm effects. (Lucky for us, the Suburban is topped off. 42 gallon tank = over 500 mile range, so we could theoretically drive to Tennessee or Alabama or Swampy’s house if we needed to. And if I had to, I could siphon more from the motor home to run the generator. If we have to bug out, I’m not going to trust supply lines to keep that thing fueled.)
I did remember to grab a little cash while I was out yesterday, also. If phones and Internet are out longer than electricity, I don’t want to be stuck with useless pieces of plastic if I need to buy something!
And I probably ought to go check on our elderly neighbor, and make sure he has what he needs for the weekend. I hope that one of his kids or grandchildren insist on taking him home with them for the weekend, or comes to stay with Mr. A. I worry about his mobility issues on good days, and I’d hate for him to fall on wet doorsteps while trying to take his little old dog out for a walk. (And we are his closest neighbors, but I can’t see his house or yard from my house.)
Will no one rid me of these troublesome raisins?
Well Moanday is a Holiday. Yay for three day weekends. I may try to make mine a 4 day weekend.
I won tickets to a concert at a little theater in Key West. It is David Wilcox whom I am not familiar with so I had to google him. It is on Sunday night and I am planning to go because Free. I never win anything and don’t even remember entering the Face book contest.
Not me, I don’t like them either.
I was thinking more of the Henry II method.
I can do without the succotash, how about just corn?
but wait. there’s corn in the potpie (if it’s done right) so, something green. Like guacamole?
Guacamole and pita.
With pita, some falafel.
Jerusalem salad.
I’m no historian, but I’m pretty sure Henry II never concerned himself with raisins. Even if Becket liked them.
Lunch break! The snack cabinet was refilled, so I’m having Fritos instead of boring plain chips with my sammich.
I hope Matthew has the decency to go out in the ocean and die, rather than team up with Nicole and come back for a second go at the east coast. Never trust a hurricane. Nevah!!!
Back to my sammich.
Howdy Y’all! Miss me?
I am back at da cave after a very busy visit to ye olde hometowne. I shall regale everyone with more details later. For now I’s tahrd and feel nap time comin’ on. I promise to go back and read the whole thread later. For now, however, yays, boos, hugs, woohoos, nougies, trouts, chitlins, smooches, how you doin’s all around as needed.
But, what about the Jawja weather???
Over here on the saltwater side of Jawja, it’s cloudy and 70° with a pleasant breeze. WUnderground says that the sun is shining on **Swampy’s **side of the peanut factory, and warm enough for a little cee-mint pond therapy.
(And the peanut farmers on my side of the state are harvesting like hell, trying to get the goobers out of the ground before they get ruint. The cotton farmers are just praying, 'cause it’s still too early to harvest most of it.)

Test drive? Floor cleaning device? More economical (Read: better gas mileage) You’re from the South.
Why were you the only cardinal direction sister not in the movie? ![]()

I’ll get you my pretty! ![]()
Moooom, I’m with you on the oatmeal raisin cookies. Dried cranberries, chopped dates, pecans or black walnuts are acceptable (but not preferable) substitutes. Alas, I don’t get to indulge very often anymore. ![]()
Peaches and drae, you don’t find a lot of gas cookstoves in this part of Tennessee. When the power goes out, we just use the grill. ![]()
Speaking of which, that’s my next patio purchase. I won’t need anything very big, but I would like to have one, as my patio is big enough to use one the city regulated distance from the building.
The Knights That Suck Up to the King left no witnesses that time.
Today is completely stupid. Well, most of this week has been stupid. Lots of busy, complicated things at work and customers that make me want to reach through the phone and throttle them. A few co-workers that have made me need to sit on my hands so I don’t throttle them, either. Monday I went to the hair salon for our wedding trials only to discover I had written the date down wrong (which I NEVER do). Today I drove away from a drive-thru at lunch without waiting for my food.
I am done with this week.
My very favorite oatmeal cookie is with dried cherries, pecans, and white chocolate chips. Yum! (And it’s my opinion that people object to raisins in cookies because so many folks don’t know to reconstitute dried fruit before baking with it. I usually soak raisins in warmed fruit juice before adding them to cookies or sweet rolls or bread. But for the dee-luxe cherry chocolate nut cookies? Kirsch. Them’s some fine cookies!)
And gas stoves aren’t extremely common here in SE. Georgia, but my cooktop and the heater are hitched up to propane, and I have a 300-pound tank in the back yard. Because I like living in a rural area, but I love modern conveniences!
Nasty…Devil’s buggers…waste of wine…etc., etc., etc.
I firmly believe that oatmeal cookies and chocolate chip cookies should be separate. Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are an abomination. But I will eat them, if that’s all you have. However, oatmeal cookies should always be made with raisins. Walnuts are optional in either oatmeal or chocolate chip.
I could go for oatmeal, raisin and walnut cookies made without raisins.
Nappage has been acheived. Right now 'tis 88 and sunny out. As Peaches said, warm enough for cee-mint pond time if’n I were so inclined. Also very dry. We need rain but none is forecast anytime in the near future. We shall go out for Mexican commestibles for dindin and then I shall go to Evening Prayer over to the church house. I have yet to meet our Interim Priest (she started Sunday and I was not there) so I get that chance tonight.
OK, there’s all kinds of intartoobz that happened while I was gone so I need to catch up. I decided to remain unplugged whilst in Ye Olde Home Towne. I see that as a good thing sometimes.
