Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) was vastly impressed when I replaced her broken driver’s side mirror. Less so when we replaced a broken hinge on the refrigerator tonight.
It is like being the Computer Guy. At first, you are a Computer God. In six months you are “a pretty good guy”. At a year, people just ask. “Why is this thing broke?”
My name is Spiderman, not chopped liver.
BTW, no effect for any of the three of us.
Dindin was the leftovers that were planned for last night. Last night ended up being horsepistol food since I ended up at the ER (not for me, though). Got the pudding parfait for dessert because I wuz told it’s good. It would have been good at ⅓ the size…& from me that’s saying a lot.
Anyway, [del]last night’s[/del] tonight’s dinner was washed down with Doggio’s drink.
Okay, back to the salt mines; I’ve shot footage for three videos since yestidy afternoon, all of which needs to be edited down.
I have drugged Mr. Matata. If his medicine doesn’t kick in soon, my next idea involves handcuffs, leg irons, a belly chain, and duct tape, and not in a way that he would enjoy.
We are good in the Keys. Was actually hopin for some rain. Methinks won’t happen. No need to worry here. In the AM If’n it’s bad I will have a 4 day weekend. Come on something.
Just on the modest chance it’s worth mentioning (again, because it feels like I’ve yammered about it too often): Mr. Matata is a deputy sheriff, disabled in the line of duty. The drugs are legal and I gave him the normal evening dose. And I only threatened with cuffs because there are about 300 sets in the office, for completely legit reasons.
Meanwhile, he’s finally snoring, and I’m in a better frame of mind thanks to some dinner and a handful of Oreos.
Five short hours from now, I’ll be in the horsepistol myself, waiting for my surgery. My show time is 11, so the actual operation will be at 1. I haven’t eaten since well before midnight and I can’t eat until after surgery. Fortunately, I could take my morning meds and one of them makes me queasy if I don’t take it with food, so it won’t be quite so bad.
Irk is no longer irksome because I’ve been re-assigned back to my old position, with the requisite loss of pay. On the one hand, I’m happy to be out of there. On the other, the reduction in income is going to hurt. Fortunately, there are a couple of positions that are opening up that I’m qualified for and that I’m definitely interested in. I know the former program manager for one of them, and she’s being very encouraging and we’ve got a meeting set up for week after next. With any luck, that meeting may even turn into something part-time to help with the lost income. I’m also pissed because it was a shitty thing to do the day before they know I’m going to be out for surgery. They at least had the decency to acknowledge that.
I’ll have Airman post when I’m out of surgery, or I’ll post when I get home and y’all will find out what I’m like when I’m stoned out of my gourd on the good drugs.
Yup, we both make our own and import them. I think my family does not have enough illegitimate people for the Mexican market…
That’s the plan, I’m going to take advantage of the October 12 holiday to spend the first half of next week in BCN seeking a rental. Barcelona with trips to Paris and, eventually, to the smaller town where the client’s French factory is located. I need to refresh my French, as part of my duties will include training “my” end users and I work the blue overalls end of things. Needing to teach how to use a computer and do mass balances to a bunch of French guys whose knowledge of English is limited to OK, Burger King and MacDonald’s does wonders for one’s French.
My day started with an email about the company turkey - they give them out for Thanksgiving and they offer 3 sizes. Since there are only 2 of us and we have a small freezer, I ordered a small one - 10-16#. That way, I can either smoke it or rotiss it, depending on how I feel. Altho I don’t know if I’ll be making dinner that day. **FCD **may go see his folks in FL, or if he doesn’t, we may drive up to my mom’s, or we may just stay home and have grilled cheese. Too early to tell. But I would like to smoke a bird, so we shall see.
Meanwhile, I need to get thru today. Unfortunately, there’s one Federal Holiday this company doesn’t observe - Columbus day. On the other hand, they give us the day after Thanksgiving, so it balances out. Anyway, no 3-day weekend for me. But just 2 weeks till cruise, assuming Matthew doesn’t destroy the ports we’re supposed to visit - Charleston, Port Canaveral, Miami, Nassau, and Coco Cay… ummmmmmmm
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and cloudy with wind but not bad wind. The predicted high is 81 and it should be mostly cloudy all day. Thus I shall accomplish of da cave yahd this mornin’. It’s also dry out so a good time to take care of outside stuff. The only other thing on today’s agenda is to make up and grill burgers stuffded with cheddar cheese and jalapeños for dindin. Tomorrow we shall go and assist JDD and Partner with some chores up at JDD’s parents place in large and in charge Parrott, Jawja. We may or may not go to Cheddar’s (been open for almost a month now) dependin’ on the level of tahrdness.
Spidey I did not include you cause I thought you were way further inland and thus probably out of the path of Matthew like me. All we’ll get is clouds and wind.
Rockin’ appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for a successful surgery and good drugs.
OK, I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, onward into the day!
TGIF. Work or not work? That is the question. I need to go but it would not be the end of the world it I didn’t. May just go for a half day. Decisions, decisions.
I feel it’s worth mentioning that while I did not know that due to my general lack of reading comprehension sometimes, I saw nothing wrong with drugging and threatening to handcuff your husband after he wasted valuable time doing something the most difficult way possible.
This is probably one of the many legitimate reasons I am not married.
But speaking of married, preparations for Not My Wedding are proceeding nicely. BoyRoomie managed to (finally) get a notarized copy of his divorce decree, so they can go get their marriage license. Most of the crafty bits are finished, and I’ve started assembling the day-of Emergency Boxes because my roommates are idiots sometimes. This weekend there will be much cleaning for the inevitable onslaught of friends and relatives, and the dogs will be mad at me when bathtime happens on Sunday.
Daughter just called me from Orlando - they’ve got power and rain. Winds aren’t nearly as bad as she’d expected. She’s enjoying the day off - they closed the schools yesterday and today.
She’s psychic - I was just thinking of messaging her to see if she was OK. A good daughter to not worry her mother.
It looks sunny outside, supposed to be 68 degrees with a high of 73 today. We get rain tomorrow and then back to sunny days.
I don’t know what I’m doing today. Sah-son was going to go take his Geology test but the dog kept us up half the night so that has been postponed until tomorrow.
Yesterday I heard from three people I haven’t heard from in a long time. I was happy to hear from only one of them. One I ignored the call, the other I answered their question, and the third - we had a nice, but short, catch up conversation.
Flytrap - speaking of pepper spray - the little girl up here who caused so much drama apologized for her behavior. However, her asshole lawyer is still saying there may be a lawsuit. I never want jury duty again, I’d love to sit on that one, but I’d be disqualified right away. I have no patience with bratty kids.
I’m even more pissed at news outlets who out and out lie in their reporting You can’t believe anything any of them say.
Good Luck Rockin’
Metal Mouse - looks like my sleep schedule is rubbing off.
Now I’m going back to bed. The dog seems to have finally settled down and maybe I can get some sleep.
Interesting morning here. FCD’s bosses were in the building. One hasn’t been here in ages because he absolutely hated my ex-boss - HATED! But he was here today setting up my n00b’s CAD accounts. The next-level-up-boss stopped in to tell me he’d be bringing me some stuff on Monday to take home to FCD, who will be driving to Cleveland on Tuesday to do a first article inspection. Apparently, I’m just a pack mule.
Frustratingly busy morning, and I don’t hold out much hope for the afternoon. But it’s Firday, so yay! C’mon 3:30!!!
