The pumping is done, and they’ve installing an access port so in the future, they won’t have to dig it out. He did suggest we be careful where we drive and park, but there’s plenty of space to maneuver the truck around the tank, so we should be good.
They’re gone, so I’m going to head out on a few errands. Lunch first, tho - I’s stahvink!!! Or I might make a lunch stop part of my errands, especially since one errand will involve picking up my mega-check <snerk> and depositing it in the credit union. Yeah, I think lunch on the run is a good plan. Laterz…
Been up for a while; caffeinated myself with yummy vanilla coffee beans ground with cinnamon and some other dark beans and I tossed in what was left of some gods-know-how-old chai mix.
Delicious! Toyed with the idea of opening a coffee shop a la Spider Robinson <can’t remember which book> where I blend coffees individually for people. But since I put all kinda flavors, including creamer, into mine, I doubt I’m a good judge of actual taste. Just flavor.
That didn’t wake me up nearly as much as getting the mail, though. Well, realizing that the front door doesn’t close properly a good 20 minutes later was what really woke me up. Well, realizing that the cats who’d been watching Street TV through the screen door realized it didn’t close properly…that was fun.
Big creamsicle cat was hanging out tasting the grass <don’t think they’ve seen it before>; little orange cat was exploring, but luckily not too far. After a frantic couple minutes of calling, I checked the side with our garbage cans and she was hanging out there. She doesn’t like the sun much that I can see, so I think she was going for the shade.
I’m really not TOO worried about their occasional escapes but I have gotta get that door fixed. I admit, being married changed one major thing: I worry more about MrTao’s reaction to cats being hurt than I do about my own. Yes, it’d kill me, and yes, he’s had many, many cats, several died of old age, others of other causes…it’s not new to him. He knows each pet is a heartbreak with a due-date. But still…it would hurt me more because of HIS hurt. If that makes sense. Gah!
swampy, if by one percenter you mean that I make about 1% of minimum wage, you could be right. But I did get some nice pocket change - $163.02! And they gave me a listing of all the pieces that sold. It gives me an idea of the sorts of things I need to make.
The main comment I get from folks at the store is that my stuff is “affordable” - OK, cheap. But mostly that was because I was trying to get rid of stuff that had been hanging around forever. I will continue to make cheapie things, since they’re quick and easy, but I’m going to add some more artsy and pricey items to my product line. Still, if I can keep most stuff under $30, or better still, under $20, I should keep selling it.
I stopped at McKay’s on the way home and got some California rolls for lunch - quite yum! Life is good.
Just got back from a 15 year appreciation lunch with some brass and coworkers of my choosing. Being secunded I don’t get to see many of the guys I started with often enough so this was especially nice. Great conversation, a new plaque for the wall and a gift catelogue to go thru are pointin’ this day in the right direction. I feel pretty fortunate to like my job and my employer.
Congrats lieu you needed some good stuff to happen. Whacha gonna pick out of the shiny catalog?
I’s home! Ok been home for a while. I escaped around two as I was just ready to go and it was gettin’ stormyish. Got to da cave just before the bottom fell out of the sky. Leftovers for dindin tonight but tomorrow is sketties and meatballs, caesar sallit and garlic bread. I already made up the meaballs with ground beast, ground turkey and sausage. YUM!!! I took some skettie sauce outta da freezer to thaw cause well, frozen skettie sauce just does not sound good.
StickyBuns do I have to lecture you to study? You know I will.
Two good things have happened today, I shall spill the beans
I have had this box of cheap jewelry that a neighbour gave me years ago, sorted all the sterling silver out and sold it today for $200, woo hoo
2 Carmen Octavio-Bocigas is back in the states, she is my Manchega via Madrid ex GF. We split up when she had to go back to Madrid 2 years ago and it did not end well. We have kept in touch, she was accepted into Grad School in Indiana and arrived yesterday. Today she invited me to come up and see her. I may have to marry that woman
Funny you should say that. I was just having a conversation with a kind hearted Doper and just sorta reminded myself of that exactly. If I can’t do it for me I should at least pull it together for him.
My husband called me this afternoon and asked what I’d want to do some engineering similar to what I did in FL. He was going to bid me at $30K, then he decided he wanted to live. Or at least his boss persuaded him he might want to keep living. I was a waaaaaaaaaaay junior engineer when I was paid that much, and while I know I don’t rate what I was making when I retired, I’m definitely worth more than $15/hr. So we came up with an acceptable figure which made his boss happy and which is enough for me to consider coming out of retirement. No promises - heck, it’s just a bid. But if their bid is accepted, I might be going back to work. Not sure how I feel about that so I’ll just wait and see.
Other than that, just another day in paradise. We had ham steak, instant smashed N.O.T. (don’t judge - we like 'em once in a while) and salad. Maybe some ice cream later. And now, I think I shall assume the position and make more texting mitts. If these things don’t sell, I’m gonna have a real problem unloading them. I don’t have enough relatives and friends…
I realized part of what’s making this all so sucky today. I was sitting here studying for my midterm when his son texted me and the whole nightmare began the day he passed away.
Intellectually I know he’s already gone and it can’t happen again but it still sucks.
I’ve gotten all of my notes together. I’m just getting ready to print them out and read through them a billion times. So, some progress has been made.
Taters with that dindin I hope you’re well stocked up on air freshener and tp.
MOOOOOM here’s hopin’ it works out whichever way ya want.
Home from Evenin’ Prayer over to the church house. 'Twas nice. Plus, I have discovered what could be a major addiction, dark chawklit covered graham crackers. YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM!!!
