Let's all have a good week in the MMP

Happy Hump Day!

It was a chilly morning, in the high 40s.
No park today as the brats went to daycare.
Ripple seems to enjoy daycare again.
I hope it continues, because both of them are going again Moonday.

Ripple now goes on the small side now with Echo and Lucy dad. He demands to go. The only problem is, he’s a mama’s boy and doesn’t want to stay over there long.
We always teased Lucy dad, calling him the crazy old man who sits in the dog park without a dog. Lucy is usually in the trees hunting squirrels. He has had people ask him if he has a dog.
Well, now that my two go on the small side with him, he says I’m the crazy old lady who sits in the dog park without a dog.

There’s been craziness at the dog park, but fortunately not when I am there. Some woman brought in three unneutered male Pitts. Not only did her dogs attack another dog, but the owner of the Pitts threatened to beat up the owner of the attacked dog.
It shouldn’t be a problem for us early in the morning, but there are reports of gangs of kids on bicycles circling the cars, making them stop, and then beating on the windows demanding money.

I didn’t get a chance to post yesterday. I was on the phone with a friend who drove her grandson to a date. She sat in the parking lot outside the restaurant for almost three hours, and I didn’t want her to sit by herself in the dark. I haven’t heard how the date went, but she was cracking up at the thought of a grown man needing his grandmother to drop him off on a date.

Still craziness around here.
NIece1 got my mother’s house inspected, I guess we are going to sell it since my sister backed out of buying it.
Oh boy, the inspection turned up a major problem that has to be fixed immediately. The flue pipe from the furnace is crumbled and laying in pieces in the attic. The gas was turned off, so no heat or hot water until it’s fixed. A HVAC guy came out, but said he can’t fix it because he is not allowed to go up on the roof. Somebody is supposed to come out on Friday to fix it.
The inspection guy said they are so lucky they hadn’t turned on the heat.
There are some other problems, nothing else so serious.

Thank you so much for the letter JtC. It helped a lot.
I don’t know if it got to the right person, but it’s a nag off my mind.
I think I will send the sheets to an animal shelter. I think there’s no bed size they would fit.

I know the things I listed are minor, but they still clutter up my mind.
Or what is left of it.

I screwed up my irk hours today, signing up to irk until 6, totally forgetting I need to pick up the dogs before 6. We can take breaks of up to a half hour, it took 35 minutes to pick up the dogs. If they want to write me up for 5 minutes, go for it.
Two weeks ago, we took Echo to daycare. When we got home my son asked me if I was taking Ripple. He usually takes Echo who will pull if she sees a squirrel, or cat, or rabbit. He was walking towards the house and I flipped out because he didn’t have Echo. I yelled to him, where is Echo? He looked confused and said, we just dropped her off at daycare.

And in the one step forward, two steps back department.
I got my blood test today, the one that should have been done two months ago. Another thing to cross off the list. Except I didn’t know there was going to be a urine test too, and didn’t drink enough. Now I have a cup and have to drop it off tomorrow.
At least the lab is near the dog park.
Then I got two pink slips from the PO today. The ‘Sorry We Missed You’ notice. They both are dated with yesterday’s date. I was home both yesterday and today when the mail man came by, and he never knocked on the door. My son and I have letters from the lawyers handling the estate and they have to be signed for. I tried to schedule a redelivery and the website says the tracking numbers don’t exist. I think we have to go to the PO to pick them up, and of course they are at the PO downtown, where there are only a few parking spaces and you have to parallel park on a busy street. Then there are two flights of stairs. My knee will not be happy.
I’ll try to reschedule a delivery tomorrow. Maybe the tracking number isn’t in the system yet.

I read some, and have a lot of catching up to do.
Stay safe, those of you in the path of the storm.
I think we are supposed to get a little of it up here.

@JaneDoe42

Two days ago I had the second of two sessions on operation of my new sewing machine. I have been working on my own and now have a few blocks under my belt. In three weeks I start a monthly class that will run through until spring. My wife signed up for the same class, and we will be making this:

There are a lot of techniques involved here and it will be a good learning experience.

I have to admit, not many retired construction workers turn to quilting as a hobby

These blocks are what I have done on my own:

Of course it did. However could you possibly think that anything was going to be easy?

I’m glad the letter helped, I know all about brain clutter. You have just suffered a big loss. It doesn’t matter that you knew it was happening, you are still grieving and that makes the most organized person in the world turn scatter brained.

That sounds like SO much fun and what a happy, fun looking piece. Are you going to use the recommended colors or pick your own? Looking at the pics of your blocks, I think your joint quilt will be stunning no matter how you go.

You know, if you are ever wondering what to do with one of your quilts and were in the mood for a trade for needlepoint, I would be more than happy to talk with you

It takes a special sort of man who is used to the instant gratification that comes with construction or auto repair to transition to a painstaking, long term project. It looks like you are that man!

There is a man who comes to our needlework meetings and often brings friends. He does lovely work. If I ever need cosmetic surgery, I will be sure to look him up because his attention to detail is fabulous.

Nice work, hippy (that is your nick, right?) My mom does cloth patterns like those. I have a wonderful quilt she did for me using lots of old fabric from my youth, like the ship captain curtains I had when I was 8.

'night y’all. Stay safe, healthy, and happy.

It did rain today: the clouds gently exhaled for about 10 minutes. That was it. All day there were gray clouds drifting sullenly by, but not one of them let loose. It’s very frustrating.

Today I passed a group of teens. One girl said to one boy, “So in other words, you married your gramma and became your own grampa!” This is what I miss about teen-agers.

My daughter–the one who has serious stomach issues that made the doc tag the test orders as “urgent” FINALLY ha s appointments for a colonoscopy and endoscopy…in two months…almost 4 months since the doc ordered them. Medicine is beyond f’d up here. Don’t move to Washington, peeps.

I saw that Coolio passed, and all I could think of was how hot shoe would be.

Whatever happened to tag and Red Light/Green Light?

Made pasta with chicken and tomato sauce for dinner, and a martini. And I watched No Time To Die : wipes away tear :

Blessed are the Cheesemakers

Yay!

Nice

And nice quiltwork, hippie

OK, that was weird. Buddy did his usual godawful-o-clock “I need to go outside”. Opened the door for him just as the quite pleasant young man next door was coming in. Buddy scuttled away from the door and half the length of the apartment, growling. Only about the second time I’ve ever heard Buddy growl.

Good morning everyone. High 60s this morning in the far-west-edge-of-DFW. Nothing but heat and the opposite of rain in the forecast for the next week.

Up waaay early because I forgot I was old and crawled under a vehicle to fix it. Apparently twisting your neck around to peer at parts in that position is a no-no when eligible for Medicare. So it’s long nights in the recliner, muscle relaxants (actually, those aren’t so bad) and various pain meds. Trouble is all the weird meds cause sleeping at odd times, and I’m up at 2:00 am wandering around the house debating whether I can have coffee yet. (I can, and am. )

Been there, done that, got the raincoat. Lived in Seattle for two years, and missed summer the first year because I had to work that day. Spent the next two years living in Arizona – I tell people it took me that long to dry out. Seriously, WA is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever lived, but ya gotta water all those plants, yanno?

Egads! Where are you? This sounds like one of those times when it’s better to just pay up and leave with no damage. Hope it’s not happening to you.

Update about the adopted kitty (my earlier post this week). Son says it has possible skull damage or maybe just a birth defect. Vet visits upcoming this week to figure it out. One eye is noticeably smaller than the other, which gives the little guy a cool, squinting look. Either way, they’ll get it treated and the little fellow is already playing with one of the current (older) cats. Their oldest cat is still ignoring the newcomer, but not hostile.

Today’s plans: Take meds, sit on couch, watch Netflix. I may get way outside the box and watch something on HBOMax. Sigh…

Woke before 4 because my bladder hates me. I couldn’t fall back to sleep. ugh.

Just got a text from my daughter - Tobias had a temp of 100° this morning, so he may not be able to get his COVID shot - I guess we’ll see when we get there.

Still not sure when we’ll head south - depending on which forecast you look at, Sat may be the better day to get out of here, but the different sites have widely varying opinions, so I don’t know. It’ll happen when it happens. In any event, I need to buy new wipers for my car before we go.

And so it begins. Happy Thursday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 57 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 75 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I need to pick up a ‘script and take care of a few errands, so that will occupy a fair amount of this mornin’. Sloth, nappage, and general overall uselessness shall occupy the rest of the day. Sup shall be meat balls 'n gravy, peas, butterbeans, and okra cooked together, smashed N.O.T. (cause gravy), and rolls.

sari be glad the inspector found out about the furnace before an attempt to use it. YIKES!

MOOOOOOM hope the Tobester is OK and can get his shot.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don appropriate attire to be amongst the great unwashed. This will be three days in a row. Why must life torment me so!

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 15c/58f with a predicted high of 16c/60f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “You might be chilly today. There is still time to crochet yourself some fucking legwarmers”. Err…no, thank you!

It’s actually been sunny this morning although there is a distinct chill in the air. I ventured outside earlier to put some rubbish in the bin and also move my car off the drive out onto the road. I have to take Shadow to the vet later for his vaccinations and health check, our road is a rat-run between two other busy roads so it gets quite clogged up at certain times of day. I need to be able to get in the car and leave straight away rather than faffing about reversing into the road, then stopping to close the gates before I can get on my way.

Mooom I hope Tobias doesn’t miss his shot today, perhaps he just woke up hot and it will go down again.

hippy love the quilting, you are so talented! Also love to see JtC and shoe posting stitchery too, those are also very pretty pieces.

Bumba your house looks like an interesting shape/style

sari sorry to hear about the inspection but it’s good that they found the problem before anything bad happened.

Been busy catching up with irk stuff, and checking in with friends who are in FL for various reasons. One couple have had to cancel their proposed wedding blessing which had taken ages to organise so they could share their wedding with US friends. They got married in the UK a couple of weeks ago and had intended to have a blessing in the US but that’s gone now. Bloody weather!

Good morning everyone.

I have read, but not really retained and I know I missed some stuff.

I had a very long and busy day yesterday. I was up at 3:30 and out the door at 5:00 am. I met a co-worker, and we drove across the Narrows into Gig Harbor to pick up another co-worker, then to Port Townsend to pick up the director, and then finally back around to Bly (near Sequim) to attend a conference/meeting on climate disaster and resiliency for that region. It was very, very interesting and there were folks there from local, state, and federal governments. We talked about planning and funding streams. That area of Washington would be well and truly cut off in the event of a huge disaster and it happens on the regular now to due to mudslides taking out roads. There was so much stuff, but it would take too long to type out and bore you to tears. I was super stoked to be part of this and learned a lot. I was there mainly to learn, and meet people in other agencies or state and local governments to determine who and how to team up with them in funding some of the requirements this region has to mitigate disaster and climate change. Drought, wildfire suppression, flooding, infrastructure, resiliency centers, the list goes on.

I hope the Tobester starts feeling better, FCM.

Yesterday was my grandson’s second birthday and we’ll all be celebrating together on Saturday. Yesterday, mommy, daddy, and sissy had a family celebration with him.

sari, I’m sorry about the troubles that need repairing and I hope it happens soon.

I need another cup of coffee. Today promises to be long too, but at least I won’t be driving all over the region. I hope you all have a great day.

He got a snort of babby tylenol, so he should be back to normal temp. But we shall see.

Dishwasher is loaded, cat box scooped, basement stairs swept (FINALLY!!!), and I ran the vacuum in the areas where Tobias mostly crawls around. The kids will be delivered shortly, and in an hour, we’ll be on our way to the Health Dept for shots. Good times!

Morning all. Need to go unload the dishwasher, couldn’t be bothered last night, and that’s the only planned household activity I have (coaching soccer and the gym are outside jobs). Still rather pleasant, 51F and getting to the mid-70’s, so you can’t do better than that. But still no rain so probably will have to water the yard again.

Sari, who brings 3 un-neutered pits to a public dog park? Many pitties I know are real sweethearts, but that owner sounds like he has no business owning dogs. And the kids should be reported to the cops (but by someone else, you have enough on your plate–be careful). Hang in there. And glad the inspectors caught the issue…that could have been a disaster.

Taters, sounds like an very interesting conference. Even if you had to be up and that ungodly hour.

hippy, nice work.

Boo fae, one nice thing about living in a cul-de-sac is no through traffic. Take care.

FCM, looks like Ian is moving (slowly) off the coast, but I agree that Saturday is probably safer. I occasionally watch one of those plane tracking sites, and yesterday all the commercial flights were on the east side of Florida, this morning everything is on the west and Jacksonville and Orlando don’t have a flight to be seen.

yanker, take care, as a fellow Medicare recipient I know what you mean about doing something out of the ordinary and paying for it the next day.

Nettie, maybe he’s a mass murderer in hiding and Buddy senses it!!

Bumba, color is darker than I prefer, but that’s why Sherwin Williams makes thousands of colors. Sure it will look good in the location.

OK, need to put the dishes away and get some sustenance/ All y’all take care.

For some reason, I didn’t sleep well or long last nights .I plan to skip the gym and go for a very long walk today. I want to see the salmon run. I suspect having fins instead of feet slows them down.

I’m the opposite: lived in perpetually droughty Wyoming and have said it took me two years to rehydrate. I actually love it here, buttons the medical situation is insane. (As is the traffic, but I don’t deal with that much since I have no car.) Also, hope the kitty is OK. The luckiest day of its llife was when he found your son.

FCM, hope Mr. Tobias is up for getting his shot today.

I have to ask: which of these are cooked together?

BooFae: your poor friends!

I heartily concur.

That was my thought. It’s always a pleasant young man. But seriously, dogs know. One of my dogs loathed a very nice neighbor and colleague. One day I surprised that very nice man while he was beating his dogs. Dogs know…

darn, ya had me until okra …make me a separate plate with out please lol

Cornmeal muffins (with jalapenos) this morning. We were happy to see that our friends in St. Petersburg were spared a direct hit from hurricane Ian. They’re vacationing in Italy and felt completely helpless as they watched it heading for their home. No news on my wife’s sister’s home in Saratoga. Her daughters drove over there and evacuated her to New Orleans.

Nelliebly, is your insurance plan a factor, or is Washington under-doctored?

Another reasoanble heave. I can only assume Ian will take out the power when it gets here, and they’ll plug the generator trailer in backwards, and short out the building. Or open a wormhole, who knows what could go wrong when you reverse the polarity.
And today’s work earworm was Gangsta’s Paradise, in honor of Coolio’s passing(Not Our Coolio).

Glad you had a good conference, Taters.
