Probably for saying something bad about Claire. Or Turnip Head.
Arzt isn’t a red shirt anymore. When Boone died, they had to call someone up from the redshirt minors. The science teacher got promoted.
Really great episode. I don’t want next week to be the season finale.
I just saw the ad again. It does sound, on closer listening, like Claire’s screaming “she killed my baby.” hmmmmm
I don’t think there was a letter, just a list of common phrases Kim might need at sea and their English equivalents spelled phonetically. He read “starboard” off the paper for example.
Asked and answered, perhaps?
Btw, I thought Claire yelled “he took my baby”, my wife thinks she yelled “she killed my baby.”
Close-captioning was no help. Of course.
Same here. I heard “took.” Alias heard “killed.”
I’m leaning towards “took” because the french woman said her baby was taken iirc.
So what was Arzt’s first name? I couldn’t understand what Hurley said - maybe Leslie?
I misted up during the Walt/Shannon/Vincent scene, the Sun/Jin scene (soooo happy they made up) and the Vincent-swimming-after-the-raft-scene.
I thought that Claire said “She took my baby!”
So we know Alex was a girl baby, how the plane got in the safety-deposit box, that Jack is single, kinda-sorta what the monster is (but is it live or mechanical?), what the black rock is…anything else?
I really, really liked the juxtaposition of scenes with Shannon, when Walt gives her the dog and she’s kinda tragic, followed by the scene in the airport where she narcs on Sayid and is a total beeyotch.
Leslie. Bitchin’ name.
I haven’t read the rest of the posts…Very good ep. tonight. Every time Yunjin Kim has a big emotional scene, she makes me tear up. I did it again when they were launching at the end and Jin was kissing Turnip-head goodbye.
Interesting how Arszt (sp?) started horning his way into the group so recently.
The return of the TCM!!
What’s with the bit of radar blip next week? They took that from the plane and put it on the raft, and it works? Really?
Good little closure flashbacks too.
Yup. “I think Leslie’s a bitchin’ name.”
They sure hit us over the head with the Numbers in this episode – with Walt wakin’ Daddy up at 8:15, “I’m in 23B.” “I’m in 42F,” and… what else? Seemed like a lot, anyway.
How many people have been wrecked on this island that we know of? Our castaways, Rousseau’s crew, Adam and Eve, the heroin smugglers, and the Black Rock folks. Missing anyone?
And how far inland is the Black Rock, anyway?
Anna Lucia!
In the tail section! Maybe next season the show unfolds in parallel: part of the show with our survivors, and part with the tail section survivors, until they finally meet in the second-to-last episode.
Tequila and tonic? Sounds terrible.
Arzt is a dead man. A redshirt gets several lines? He’s doomed…
(Although I really liked the way his part last week was written.)
p.s. Was “Black Rock” written on the stern of the ship?
I’m such a wuss. I got all choked up when Jack and Sawyer had their big scene. And then I got choked up again when Walt gave Shannon the dog. And then I got choked up again when Jin and Sun reconciled.
The only thing that makes it easier for me to know that the season is coming to an end is knowing that the DVDs will be coming out soon. Not soon enough, but soon.
Yes, the galleon was the Black Rock.
I had speculated months ago that “Black Rock” could be the name of a ship. Glad to see I got one thing right.
Yes.
I was wondering if Hurley would notice the numbers on the hatch, but he didn’t seem to.
And I’m surprised they took Hurley and Arzt on the dynamite expedition. I would think you’d want people in really good shape, who can run when necessary.
Yeah, Arzt introduction is pretty awkward, but TPTB have said all along that they were planning on introducing new characters from the “chorus”. We just have to accept that “yeah, they’ve been on the island for almost 40 days and they all know each other, even if we haven’t seen all of them”.
Well, Arzt pretty much forced his way into the group but Hurley was an odd choice. I guess it was because he was one of the few of them to have contact with Danielle prior to this.
“Dude, I’m spry.”
Walt woke up Daddy at 5:23 (and it was still dark outside). But good catch on the seat numbers.
oh, and I’m pretty sure it was “She took my baby!” A definite T sound to start it, even though the rest of the word was a little distorted.
I don’t think anybody’s mentioned my favorite line from this ep (a Hurley line, of course):
Locke: “You booby-trapped your shelter with explosives. Do you have any more?”
Danielle: “Dynamite. At the Black Rock. In the Dark Territory.”
Hurley: “Well that’s three reasons to go, right there…”
It’s amazing how much the airport in Sydney looks like the international terminal at LAX. I kept thinking, “Man, have I spent some time waiting around in those chairs.”
Yeah, I’m pretty sure there are going to be tail-section survivors somewhere. But are they on this island, or another?
So… I want to know why ForwardGirl (Anna Lucia) made that cryptic little remark: “And Jack… the worst part’s over.”
[nitpick]It wasn’t a galleon. Galleons were a type of vessel that evolved from the earlier carrack. The most prominent feature was a tall, narrow, and often highly ornate aftcastle. They were developed in the late 16th century, and dominated shipping for most of the 17th. The ship we saw looked to me like a small frigate from the late 18th or early 19th century, but I didn’t see it long enough to draw any firm conclusions.[/nitpick]
