Lost 2.18: "Dave"

Soldiers in most roles outside of infantry are generally taught hand-to-hand combat very sparingly, if at all. It’s of essentially no value in modern warfare. Sayid was an intelligence officer, not an infantryman.

A Los Angeles police officer would certainly know far more physical combat techniques than almost any soldier.

But in the preview here (downloadable right here btw)
They show Jack saying he’s going off to the forest to talk with Bluebeard, then they have the countdown buzzer go and show Locke laying on his back in the room staring at the map again. Unlike the American preview which only shows the clock counting down and Jack yelling in the forest.

It also appears Bernard and Rose get into another tiff since he’s pissed that everyone is acting all comfortable and Rose is mad that he’s scaring the other Lostaways.
The Canadian previews are often fairly different from the American ones but I try to watch both of them.

He was in the Republican Guard, which was billed as a fairly elite group. Anybody know if that counts for more?

My question was, after he fired the gun in a concrete bunker, we didn’t hear the bullet ricocheting around until it hit something soft or electronic to stop in, so there exists the possibility that there was a blank in the gun and yes, I know you have to modify an automatic to fire blanks.

Nah, it’s totally a church. Notice how Charlie, the cokeheaded, babynapping, lapsed Catholic, washed-up Rock God in need of redemption is the one helping him?

But they showed the bullet actually take a chunk out of the wall.

The republican guard is only considered “elite” on a very relative basis - compared to the rest unmotivated, ineffective Iraqi forces.

They’re not considered elite in the same way that the US rangers, or to some extent, marine corps would be.

Maybe they’ll call it: Our Lady of the Heroin Stash.

Well, yeah, but maybe he’s building a phone booth so people can call him for drugs… or maybe he’s building a stage… or a confessional…

Thanks for the link… IMHO, that is a misdirection…

Because it looks like the same scene where he was trapped… you can see the pry bar to his side, as well as the ‘trash’… one would think he would not be on his back if he ‘planned’ this, and he 'should have pen/paper handy to start writing.

The misdirections aren’t usually like that though. The previews they show have always (ime) shown clips from the next show, not previous ones.

And watching it again of course I mis-typed Rose and Bernard’s tiff. I think I’m taking a nap before I mix up more stuff/

Why is that? And just how do you rank that you get to see both?

He’s building a deck…that can only support eight people.

Here’s my WAG - Libby was in the ward because she was traumitized by the Hurly deck accident when she
1 was a random guest (survivor) on the deck at the party who didn’t know Hurly
2 saw a loved one die in the deck crash or
3 had a loved one die in the crash

I just think that the end of the episode with she and Hurly on the cliff making some kind of connection (either real or false) is going to somehow circle back to her somehow having a connection to Huly’s deck.

Really stupid WAG - Was Lock sitting below the deck when it crashed and lost the use of his legs?

Except Michael already tried that, and they done got blowed up!

Maybe Sawyer contracted him to build a General Store, which Sawyer will of course run with all his loot as the merchandise for sale…

Not a bad guess, although he’d probably remember Hurley from the accident. He’s kinda hard to miss, you know.

Heh. The moment I heard “crash” I thought, “Ooh, now we’ll find out about the crash that injured Locke’s legs!” But alas…

Here’s another WAG or speculation that no doubt someone else somewhere has already come up with: They’re ALL catatonic in mental wards and in some sort of bizarre group hallucination/virtual reality therapy experiment.

Maybe? No?

If that was the case it’d be hard to believe he’d not know who Hurley was.

Remember, Hurley owns the box company that Locke works for.

And Locke’s boss there is Hurley’s former Fast Food boss, right?

What about the timeframe? Was there any indication that Hruley’s accident happened about 4 years ago (pre-plane crash)? I believe Locke said he was paralyzed 4 years prior to his trip to Australia.

They’re different because CTV makes the previews for here, while ABC makes the American previews. You can tell because the CTV previews have the same voice as the guy who does voiceovers for other previews.

And I rank, just because I’m so awesome.

Or I Just know where to go. She posts the previews for next week after every episode, which comes in handy when CTV is being dumb and doesn’t show the preview (which happens all too often this season).

Yes on the boss question and yes on the time for Locke’s accident. There’s that number “4” again. Hmm…
