Are the Hanso Corporation “commercials” a recent phenomenon, or did I just miss them entirely up until last week? Anyone care to speculate about the significance of the web presence? Does the Hanso Corporation figure into the future of the show, or are they just tryign to sell us Sprite? I mean, all we’ve seen so far is the “Training Movies” on the show, but the web sites hint at corruption and duplicity at the highest levels of the Hanso Corporation (foreshadowing?). Are we going to be strung along by web teasers all summer? I don’t know about the rest of you, but there’s a very appealing Legend of Zelda thing going on with the web stuff, and I’m almost as curious about that rabbit hole as I am with the hour-a-week on TV.
Didn’t Hurley get it off the flight manifest too?
There’s a Locke connection here. I know it. The secret cameras taping them in the hatch - was there audio? Because a lot gets discussed in that hatch.
Anyone else notice that when Vincent led Chaz back to Sawyer’s tent, he proceeded to lick the heroin bag? Not to mention that one the first things Walt said to the immenently killable Michael was “How’s Vincent?” (Could just be a kid who wanted to see his dog—or maybe not).
Also, my favorite moment: “Michael has been compromised.”
I do not think the deaths of AL or Libby (or anyone for that matter) were part of the spoken plan to Micheal (not in the scenes we saw anyway)…
However, Miss Clue (klugh or whatever) did say that they (the losties) would be ‘Angry enough’ to listen to whatever Micheal had to say/plan… and she didnt care what micheal told them, just to get those (and only those) 4 to the camp.
Perhaps Micheal was being controlled from afar? but if so, why the “I’m Sorry” ? if he wasnt in control of himself, he had no reason to apologize… the murders were his (and only his) decision.
[musing]
Maybe the “Others” are mostly catch and release, and typically only need the losties for a limited amount of time. If there are experiments going on, perhaps the “Others” are capturing, innoculating (or infecting) the losties, observing them, then releasing them if the results are expected.
If WAAAALLLT! has some natural immunity (or whatever) to the test process, he might be of value. If Michael is subsequently tested and found to lack the natural resistance (or whatever), he would cease to be of value, and it might lead them to suspect his paternity. Incedentally, I think you could get a decent amount of blood using the jab-and-suck method, though I suspect it would be quite painful for the donor.

Oh, absolutely! He’s an excellently creepy character.
Charlie’s first line when Vincent dropped the statue was funnier.
“Are you kidding me?”
No, I wouldn’t let the kidnappers keep him, and I’d probably be willing to kill the guilty parties to get him back – i.e. attack the Others. But my point here is that Michael killed two people who had nothing to do with the kidnapping – innocent bystanders, where the kidnapping of Walt was concerned. I’d say that puts him in the Undeserving category, in my book.
Re: The Others knowing Sawyer’s real name.
Perhaps they had a flight manifest? That had Saywer’s real name on it. Which brings up a whole new bunch of possibilities.
Perhaps they need to interact with people first to know if they are “good” and just having the names isn’t enough, hence why they send spies in to infiltrate the groups.
I thought he was munching on cookies/crackers that were hiding in Sawyer’s underground stash.
I’ve said all along that the flight and crash were ‘pre-planned’… so there is little doubt that the Dharma group would have the manifest and real names of the people.
As to the definition of what ‘good’ means, I’m hoping we’ll find out.
Now, if Miss Clue gave Micheal a list with "Freckles, Grape Ape, Doc and Sawyer " on it, I would’ve been surprised. (but they did know Sawyer’s nickname… he just hasn’t given himself a clever one yet).
Them cookies looked pretty crumbly. And heroin-y too.
I say the boat was in the hold of the plane. And for a larf, the owners stowed away in it while it was being loaded into the plane.
Next season, the first few episodes will be about the “boaties”.
…it could happen…
Of course it was. I don’t know why people are surprised that the Others knew everyone’s names. They planned the crash and chose the passengers.
They’re made by Keebler elves gone very, very wrong.
I agree with you that Michael is not thinking clearly at this point. But also part of my prior comment is that I feel that Michael has pretty much now crossed the line into being “unredeemable” as a character.
If he had been brainwashed, or if he were suffering from this mysterious illness, perhaps he would still be redeemable as a character. But at this point, regardless of his motives (“WAAAAAAAAAAAALT!”), regardless of his panic, regardless of his not thinking clearly… I don’t see any way in hell that he could ever be forgiven by the other Lostaways at this point.
I think about some of the other characters who have done some not-so-nice things. Sawyer, grabbing all the guns. Charlie, fake-assaulting Sun. Even the more extreme one, Ana Lucia shooting and killing Shannon. She was persona non grata for a while, but people eventually came to realize it was in fact an accident and a mistake on her part. She shot too fast at whatever came from the bushes, but it was when her group thought they were under attack from the Others.
But Michael… I can’t think of any way that he would ever be accepted by, forgiven by, or even allowed in the midst of the other Lostaways if the truth came out to them. His shooting of Ana Lucia wasn’t an accident – he shot somebody in cold blood who trusted him – in fact, she gave him the gun. And then Libby – I don’t think he wanted to, but he knew he couldn’t have witnesses. The Waaaaaaaalt business has pushed him over the edge.
And now he intends to betray 4 more people who have been friends, who have been helping him. I don’t see any way that he would ever fit back into the Lostaways society at this point, so he’d better hope that he gets a boat from the Others and is able to live with his own conscience afterwards. Because if the truth is known, I don’t see any forgiveness coming his way. He’s pretty much unredeemable at this point.
Hell, if Hurley finds out, he’ll just jump on Michael and not get up until he stops breathing.
Sayyid saw Walt; Charlie saw all sorts of things.
Why does Eko have a steel cross and not a silver one?
Fella name of Ethan.
And in a Mint Milano bag, too, rather than a little clear plastic baggie like all the other heroin we’ve seen in Lost.
Yeah, I was thinking that, too.
Hey Claire, I found this vaccine looking stuff, and I thought you should have it. What does it do? I’ve got no bloody idea, but it’s pretty and sparkly, and this stuff is really easy to inject, see? Yeah, really – it’s much more fun than heroin, so that’s why I’m throwing these Virgin Mary statues into the ocean, even though they’ll probably wash up on the beach, or at least get all the jellyfish and sea urchins high… And Jack will be pissed because he wanted it for medicinal use. But at least we have this fun new Star-Trekky hypospray injector, see? Anyways, have fun with it. Oh, and if it causes you to break out in hives or grow extra fingers or something, you should probably see Jack about that…
Huh? They look like pretty unambiguous cookies to me. Maybe you were looking at the sand?
I stand corrected. Although, I’d’ve preffered it if Vincent was the new island addict. His hallucinations would’ve been grrrreat. I want my Vincent flashback episode, goddamit.
Maybe Charlie’s been compromised.
Or maybe snorting the sand…
Or maybe he’s just a brainless git.
