Lost 3.22 "Through the Looking Glass" (SPOILERS)

Oh, and another thing-- the “Captured and tied up by two hot chicks” scenario certainly didn’t turn out to be nearly as much fun as it sounds like.

Sawyer: “A runway? What for?”

Juliet: “The aliens.”

Sawyer:

Juliet: <smirk>

Vincent is still alive! (Well, I have to be glad about something…)

I knew Waaaaalllt was coming back. Just knew it. Had a flash, you know.

Future Kate is much more attractive than Present Kate.

Has Sawyer quit nicknames altogether? Except for "Hero," I mean. (Wrong show, James!)

If Charlie had swum out, wouldn't that damned, blasted Mikhail have seen him and strangled him or something?

I’m bummed, anyhow. Poor little Turnip-head; that’s why he was crying at that moment.

Paging Dr. Gregory House: I know who’s got some more oxycodone for you…

There was a relatively clear view of the piece of paper announcing the funeral at one point. The camera was behind Jack, as Jack was sitting in the front seat of a car, and we were looking over his shoulder as he looked at the slip of paper. Anyone able to capture this frame and see if any of the writing can be read?

Wow. Fantastic.

OK, who called the future-story? I paused it on TiVo for my “Lost” group when Jack went to the funeral parlor and said “this is a future-story, not a back story”.

I think Locke becomes the new Ben, and next season will show how he organizes The Others again.

Great episode. Maybe the best one yet.

Except…NO! Remember when Charlie was supposed to get arrow’d in order for someone to fall out of the sky, and when he didn’t, it still happened? Nevermind that it wasn’t Penny; Desmond’s flashes never explicitly told him it would be, he only saw the picture IIRC, and I have a hard time believing that Charlie’s death would have magically made it her, even with the island being all islandy as it is wont to be…

So just because Desmond has a flash of Charlie dying, doesn’t mean he HAS to die. It seems more like he has to THINK Charlie is going to die in order for certain events to get put in motion, follow the flashes as it were, but then the death doesn’t have to occur.

The point is, Charlie had already done what he was supposed to do in order for Claire, and the others, to get rescued. He and Desmond could have easily escaped. There was absolutely no reason for him to die just then.

I for one am refusing to accept his death as permanent unless and until next season does not show a time-travel/reversal of Jack’s decision thing as an option.

There’s a code or something above those copyright listings.

Oh, yeah. What gave away the future-story? 2 things. The Moto Razr phone and Jack’s short hair. He had longer hair in all the other backstories, but his hair in these “flashbacks” was just like it was on The Island.

Never mind, those are just the initials of the organizations listed.

-FrL-

 1. Yeah, I guess they didn’t let the fact that Waaaalllt has obviously gone through puuuuuberty stop them.

 2. Give Present Kate a break, she doesn’t have access to makeup.

 3. Ah, that may be true. Still. Wouldn’t the same happen to Desmond? Fucking hell. He didn’t have to die. :frowning:

One of the greatest episodes ever, and I was one of those who was losing interest.

First, Jack’s dad came out of the magic box that Ben spoke of. This happened at the beginning of season one. He really does get get of the island.

Second, the person in the casket was Julia. Mark me word.

Third, Bernard, what the hell? You blew it!!! Everyone else did good this episode except you. I don’t even want want to look at you anymore. Please leave.

Lost is back to being a unquestionably legendary TV show. Kudos.

And, yeah, the clues didn’t register with me at all (the Razr did have me scratching my head, but it didn’t click then)…I didn’t realize it was a flash-forward until somewhere around when Jack hung up the phone calling Kate asking her to meet him. And I wasn’t 100% sure, just got a strong feeling about it. I think what went through my head was, “Whoever he’s meeting is going to really shock us. What would really shock us? …SOMEBODY FROM THE ISLAND!”

Here is Los Angeles, after LOST, the local news showed an interview with the two producers, in which
they apologized to audiences for killing Charlie and losing Dominic as a cast member…

Sad to say, I think Charlie’s death is permanent
And this is how I think they got off The Island and at what cost:

Naomi’s ship was a Dharma ship. They wanted to get back at Ben, but they had no interest in having the 815ers on The Island. They agreed to take them back to civilization, but made some deal where they couldn’t reveal any info about The Island or else suffer lethal consequences.

Locke remained on The Island, as did CFL and maybe a few others.

Who was Jack visiting at the Funeral Parlor? My guess is Michael.

DAMMIT

Well, I guess it’s better not to cling to false hope so the grieving can begin.

:frowning:

Isn’t Mikhail (at least mostly) dead due to recent proximity to a grenade explosion?

I love the consistency between seasons. Each season ends with a scene in a new place that “changes the rules” so to speak:

Season 1: Ends with the discovery of the Hatch
Season 2: Ends with Penelope Widmore (the first time we’ve seen the present-day outside world)
Season 3: Ends with a scene from the future

So, people worrying about the Future thing ruining the show from here on in, I wouldn’t worry about it. They’ll probably go back to flashbacks now. Remember, Season 2 ended showing Penny hearing about the island, but we never heard from Penny again for the entire duration of Season 3 until the very end. It was just a teaser, so to speak.

The thing to keep in mind is that The Island is in control. It doesn’t matter so much if Ben screws up, or the Dharma folks screw up, The Island is going to take care of itself. Whatever consequences there might be for any individual or group, that doesn’t matter. The island is in control.

My favorite line from this episode:

In context, it was brilliant.

Also: I think Jack’s comment about his dad was meant to have a double interpretation upon the second viewing. The first time around, you think he’s making excuses for being drunk, and that’s why the new head doctor is “pitying” him. The second time around, you realize he’s talking absolute nonsense, and that’s why the new head doctor is looking at him the way he is.

Two interpretations, in a Sixth Sense kind of way.
