Mafia Reunion - Day One

I thinnk I saw that we can’t change the day/night timing by any in-game mechanism.

Why not?

I had taken to making a random vote as my first post of every game, just to see what kind of reaction I would get. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do it here for the reason stated, and by the time I got an answer to my question it seemed “too late”.

Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren’t. This one looks to me to be more like “something” than most. He notes that there are “2 sets of Scum”, and uses the phrase “the other team” in the same sentence…that seems like an odd combination of phrases.

So you are saying, we can’t touch this?

Please don’t hurt em.

I hate you.

Nope. Sorry Prof. The Day is the Day. Mods may change the Day length at their discretion, but nothing you all can do about it.

You set him up.

Ladies and gentlemen, MC Meeko is in the House!

No, no. That was funny.

Has there ever been an instance where Town has called themselves team? How can this happen, given the fundamental and immutable set-up of Mafia? I’d wager to say town not knowing they are a team, is THE defining attribute of Mafia. “Given” roles such as a cop and a doctor would even come after that.

I’m saying I can’t conceive how it would be natural to even embrace the thought of “team” if you are town. Sure, you could, I guess, have a “team” of Masons of any stripe, but again, that comes from knowing the complete set, if you will. If we don’t know all that (who that) we are, we can never call us a team.

And I think it even goes one step further.

Most games, a vast majority of players are vanilla town. They don’t even get to know … Anything. In fact, most games, a vanilla town role goes so far as to state “just you and your abilities” or some variation thereof. … Most town players are further segregated than even just being a randomized group of people, some with extra abilities than others. … It does matter that some players are dealt extra cards than others… Town doesn’t think as a team, in any sense, and most town players (vanillas) are subtly encouraged not to think of “team” at all.

Finally, if we are to find Scum (or indeed any non-town) toDay, that is on a Day One, Any Day one… Wouldn’t it need to follow that we do so due to a “Big” slip? One that is obvious?

Ffs you prolifically loquacious mofrakies.

Reading…

It is a good thing I suddenly have tomorrow off.

Based on what I have read so far, votes based on editing…meh. Colby’s ‘other team’ comment has more potentially interesting substance. Bufftabby’s lynch-the-lurker philosophy also caught my eye but I may be projecting because I will definitely look like I’m lurking this game compared to previously. No more professional need for an online laptop surgically attached to my fingers. I don’t even have broadband at home right now, just my (still pretty fat) data plan on my phone.

Nothing at all how my daily grind was through my previous play. I think I might end up looking like a formerly competitive badminton player who decided to take up curling (and not the meth-snorting ppl with the brooms, the ones who move slow sit there staring at things quietly for a long time and then gently fuck the ice while sliding the rock).

Thanks for that Lightfoot there is so many pages to look through to try and find it again.

I really have no other knowledge of ToeJam however Boozahol I’m pretty sure has asked similar questions in the past. This imo is day 1 weak sauce dart throws, but depending on how the day progresses may be important.

Almost certain that was me, and I recall it being the case a handful of times.

The dev’s said there were no night actions for night 0, so I’m pretty sure none of us did anything at all

You’re drinking the kool aid!! Meeko does this stuff all the time which is why I usually vote him early myself. However he seems to be doing the normal Meeko.

NETA: I personally will give him a little lattitude atm.

He already said he was playing while on a mobile device that could be auto correct for all we know. I personally think that maybe there should be some latitude given here too. I mean there are SOOOO many players, but so few of us are really posting at the moment.

I don’t feel like unless there is something huge ping that I get from reading at this point I am not going to be voting right away. I would love to hear from some of the players that haven’t posted at all. I mean maybe they are watching us all scramble to tie the noose around our own necks.

Acknowledging.

See, Faulkner, this why I love you to little bits and pieces. Not only because you embrace my ridiculous fluff, but you get BB jokes!

It is different. In a normal game, if scum fake a claim then they are safe from nightkill , as scum are obviously not going to target their own. However, to a separate scum group, the claim looks totally legitimate, and the player is therefore a target.

Yes, it leads to dilemmas for both town and scum. Should townies protect? Should scum target them? If scum do get scared off, then that is actually a gain for town.
