May Flowers in the MMP

Morning all. Up early to see if the soccer games will be on or not. It rained last evening (interrupting soccer practice) and some more overnight, but it’s stopped now and looks clear until Noon. Parks have said they will post status by 7am, so we’ll see.

Sounds like everybody is in a grumpy mood, mostly due to other people.

FCM, Happy home improvement.

Cookie, know what you mean, I feel fine while I doing things, but then I stop and when I try to move again…

Flipper, hope Mom is OK.

Butters, hope company departs at a reasonable hour.

All y’all take care now.

Happy Saturday!

It’s a cloudy chilly 55 degrees outside, supposed to get up to 63 and be rainy.

Don’t know what I am going to do today other than making a pork roast for dinner. And make some deviled eggs.
I need to order groceries to pick up tomorrow, although I think it could wait until Moonday.
I feel kind of bad, the PO is running a food drive, I am supposed to put out a bag of food today, and my pantry is pretty bare. About the best I can do is two cans of kidney beans. I don’t keep a lot of canned food around anyway.

Company got off this morning and I am at irk until 1. Not much happening here yet. I am tahred. Little bit hungover. Ready for it to be 1PM and back home to nap.

There is a dead female mallard in the street. Its mate is standing over her. Makes me sad.

We’re taking a break. So far, we’ve dug ditches, put in the electric and air lines, filled the ditches, hooked up power to the shed and started installing the air lines inside the shed and the main shop. I was fighting with the muck every time I lifted my foot - did I mention my shoes are slip-ons?

My mid-morning snack was ibuprofen. But the heavy work is done, so here’s hoping that by moving this afternoon, I won’t seize up too badly.

I worked in San Bernardino for a couple of years. One day on the way to the office I saw a female duck that had been struck by a car. It’s mate was standing over her, and pacing around looking distraught. It’s one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen. :frowning:

Did Louie forgive you butters? :stuck_out_tongue:

The birthday party was fun last night. It rained on and off, so the music was happening up on the porch. Nelson got to run around off leash and even made up to the pit mix pup who beat him up last summer when she was a 10 week old pup. It was good to have the autoharp out again, but I’m now aware that I could stand to practice it more. I didn’t get home until ~one this morning.

Towels are in the wash, sheets in the dryer, a crock of pantry stew is awaiting the addition of vegetation and KP needs to be done before I purtify to go get comestibles. Need more caffeine.

Your post reminded me that we were supposed to do that too, so I grabbed some stuff and put it out but there was mail in the box already. :frowning: Trouble is, I don’t know if the mail carrier came early today, or I forgot to get the mail yesterday. :o

That is sad. Once upon a time, in another life, I lived on a small river, and a friend gave me about a dozen baby mallards to raise. I had a lot of fun with those ducks but didn’t have their wings clipped and eventually they flew away. I had hopes that they would return the next year, but I never saw them again. :frowning:

I am conflicted. A few days ago a couple of close friends re-posted a meme on facebook that implied that all law-abiding gun owners, of which I am one, are complicit in the deaths of the kid(s) killed in the latest school shooting. I posted what I though was a well reasoned reply saying that wasn’t so, mostly for the benefit of my friends, and was immediately attacked by a ‘true believer’ anti-gun person. Or bot, I’m not sure which. Their arguments were, pretty much word for word ones I had seen before. Now i know that engaging in an argument on the inner-webz is tantamount to engaging in a land war in Asia, and if it weren’t that my friends would see it, I wouldn’t bother, but do I want to go back there and counter? Would it do any good?
It’s nagging at me.

On the other hand, I could mow the lawn. :dubious:

**Bumba **- you need a sarcastic font so you can say “Well, you’ve convinced me that you are right and I am wrong. Thank you for your insights.” Or “Golly, gee, I use knives - I guess I’m responsible for every knifing death in the world, too…” Or you can consider the source and ignore it.

We’ve quit for the day. **FCD **connected the wires we pulled last week to their respective circuit breakers while I made up the last 4 220V wire bundles. We pulled the one for the welder, but the others will have to wait to be pulled till tomorrow. We’re both pretty beat anyway, so the motion to quit was carried unanimously.

Now, do I make supper, do we go out, or do we order pizza?? Decisions, decisions…

Mowing the lawn will be more productive.

Ripple had a good time at the park today. Lots of dogs there considering that it is a bit chilly and kept spitting rain.

Outside of that and irk, I haven’t gotten much done.
Getting ready to boil some eggs and get the pork ready for the oven.
The fridge and freezer need a good cleaning too, and since they are almost empty, now is a good time to do it.

Went downtown to Shutterbug this morning while it was still cool out and picked up a Nikkor 70-300mm VR zoom lens for about $150 less than Amazon wanted. A good lens for birding and wildlife.

Came home and started assembling the storage cabinet in the garage. Got the sides and doors put together, but was sweating like a piggy by then, so came in to cooler territory. I believe a nap is in order.

Worked, came home, napped. Made a spicy tuna salad sandwih for lunch. Sipping an Old Fashioned right now.

I didn’t think Flytrap was capable of happiness.

Bumba, go ahead and post. It won’t do any good, but you can say you tried.

Flipper, EEK! Home Mom will be OK.

Cookie, nice cabinet.

I got an irritating email today from mdcaps saying that my son’s scholarship was canceled, they are taking the money back, and I will have to pay the college. Told me to go check the website to see why it was canceled. Took me forever to log into the site, one they don’t tell you that the password expires after 90 days and it’s probably been more than 90 days since we last logged in. Then when we tried to change the password it said the log in is invalid. So we went in with his name and email address, the same name and email that is in the email they sent, only to be told that the account doesn’t exist.
Finally got the password changed and checked out why his award was canceled and according to the site it’s not canceled.

Of course I can’t call anybody until Moonday.

I know I shouldn’t be bitchy about free money, but the state of md can kiss my ass right now.

The deviled eggs don’t taste good, don’t know if it is me, or the eggs being kind of old, or if because the mayo was made with avocado oil.
The pork roast is good

Also, who does maintenance on The Boards on Saturday night? Some of us don’t have lives, ya know.;):stuck_out_tongue:

Sari, that is irksome.

sari, usually slightly old eggs boil up better than fresh ones. I’m surprised.

I bought groceries and did some recreational shopping today. I may go to RenFest tomorrow. It’s supposed to peak at 52F, so going in costume is a very real possibility. Tonight, I’m sorting some photos from Mom’s side of the family to do up a military scrapbook. Once I ascertain who I have pics in uniform of, I’ll make the appropriate requests to family on FB for others. I’ve been meaning to do this album for a few years and today’s recreational shopping trip scored a nice album for half price, so I bought it.

Sari, might be a scam e-mail to get you to send $$$ to them. Hope you can clear it up Moanday.

Cookie, nice cabinet, but nappage is always in order.

wet one, like others, I’ve seen the same thing. Makes one sad.

red, sounds like a fun night for both you and Nelson.

Butters, happy Sunday (day of rest).

Bumba, you’re probably one of the rational middle regarding guns; all you can do is remain rational with fanatics or either side…

The thunderstorms promised for today cancelled our soccer games, but never showed up until after 5pm. I am convinced our park board is nothing but a group of wussies…

Went to another town and refereed some there, then came home and did pretty much nothing. Have to decide soon if I’m going to Spartansburg, SC for the big AYSO tournament 14-16 June.

All y’all take care now.

Rain rain rain rain rain… but at least it’s cool out. Roxy didn’t nap much yesterday, so she crashed before 7, sans bottle. Which means she woke at 1:30, hungry and screaming. Luckily, it didn’t last long and I fell back to sleep, tho I got up at 5:30 because I was awake. Ergo, I’ve breakfasted and I’m caffeinating. I’m watching Roxy this morning while daughter and SIL go see some comic book movie at 9:30 - simultaneously, I’ll do laundry and a few other chores. rah.

**sari **- the scholarship thing sound like someone somewhere screwed up. What you’ve told us about your son’s grades more than assures whoever that he’s doing the work and doing well. Try not to cuss too much while straightening it out. And regarding your eggs, I’d place my bets on the mayo.

Bathroom scales are untrustworthy demons! Ours is an electronic type - not the old spring-style that should never be used in a corrosion-inducing bathroom environment. It’s good in that it shows the trend of one’s weight, but it’s stupid in that you can step off, wait a few minutes, step back on, and your weight can vary up to 3#!!!

I really don’t care about the actual number - that only counts when I go to the Dr - but when it varies that wildly, it ticks me off. I want today’s weight to be the same as yesterday’s or less - I want to see the correct trend. I don’t need these random numbers, dammit!! [end stupid rant of the day]

Anyway, apart from laundry and tending Roxy, I’ll be back in the shop this afternoon helping **FCD **with wiring. We’re hoping to move the machines on Saturday so all the wiring and air needs to be in place and ready to go. Go ahead, envy my exciting life!

Happy Sunday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and rainy with a predicted high of 80 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse for the day. I survived the first round of leadership trainin’. Round two starts up again in December. We declared our project and shall commence on that betwixt now and December. Rah. I read all I missed but retained little. Got back to da cave around six last night but was wiped, so beyond unpackin’, grabbin’ sump’n to eat and spendin’ some quality time with OYKW nuttin’ else happened. Matter of fact I was in bed at eight and asleep shortly thereafter. Today we shall deheathenate with the Luteruns (I have ush duty), grab sump’n to eat while out and then back to da cave to do as next to nuttin’ as possible the rest of the day.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance so’s I can take meds. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence. Rah.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Morning all. Up early today so nappage is likely. Rain is leaving the neighborhood, but temperatures are lower, so something good came from them.

Happy Mom day to all Mom’s in the MMP.

Now need to forage for sustenance. Take care y’all.

Big race yesterday, too fried afterwards to even look here to even look here let alone post.

Happy Mother’s Day to those celebrating, that includes Flytrap, Doggio, & Rat; though for them, Mutha is only half a word. :dubious:
