In my “cannot brain today” moment, I pulled up to the gate of my apartment complex, and it took me several tries to figure out why my gate remote wasn’t working.
I was trying to use the car’s alarm remote to open the gate.
I’ve also been known to try to use it to unlock my apartment door.
My coffeemaker did not want to work yesterday. It wanted to live in the trash can. My new-to-me coffeemaker does want to work so it gets to live on the counter. The carafe is innocent and continues to live in the coffeemaker.
I’m in a very weird place mentally. Hopefully the Old Bat Brigade departing the irkplace will help greatly. (There’s been an Old People Bus Tour there all week. These people need to a) learn about Local on the 8s and how the Weather Channel does it *all over the country *and b) learn how to use voice mail. I shan’t even go into all the ID10T errors on the computer yesterday. I may put those in the workplace gripin’ thread.)
We are making one, final, obligatory college visit today, after which I hope we can declare The College Selection Process DONE. I am ready to move on to figuring out how to pay for college.
Happy Firday, all! Congrats and hugs to all who deserve/need them.
I managed to sleep thru the night except for one potty trip - I didn’t hear the dog till 6:30, so yay!
It’s 40° out - poor guys on their motorcycles are gonna freeze - lucky me in my car with my heater!!
**FCD **is hitting the shower, and when he’s done, I’ll make us breakfast. I need to empty the dishwasher, do some miscellaneous packing, tidy my stuff, pack for the dog (daughter is picking her up on her way home today) and feed and water the flowers on the deck. I think everything else is good to go. We’re supposed to meet at the Harley place at 10 and be on the road by 10:30. Lunch will be at Kent Island, and we get to our motel by 3-ish.
It’s going to be sunny but cool-ish - highs in mid-60s all weekend. That should make for nice boardwalk walking. And daughter is bringing both dogs here on Saturday so she can wash some blankets that are too big for her little apartment washer - that’s good - she can feed the fish and scoop cat poo and bring in our mail.
I’ll have the laptop with me and supposedly the motel has wi-fi - I may be able to check in. We shall see. Otherwise, I’ll be back on Sunday.
Be good, don’t jump on the furniture, use coasters and napkins, and wash your hands!!! I don’t want to hear a lot of tattling when I get back.
Looks like I signed out too soon. We’re all ready to go, the house is tidy, the dishes are put away, all that remains is to put the dog in her cage and take out the garbage, then we can go. Except we can’t go for another hour, so I’m back!
Now, rosie, don’t go waving your debt-free-ness around here. Some of us still owe our souls to our mortgage companies… Tho it’s only for 18 more years <sob>
It has warmed up - 52° - so **FCD **won’t be quite as frozen as he rides. And I won’t have to have the heater quite as high.
Spaz there is such a thing as theft by receivin’ stolen property which is defined differently than theft by takin’. The way I see it is theft by receivin’ means you took property from somebody who took property or somebody took property and gave it to you. Either way it’s stolen property even if you didn’t do the takin’. So I guess the lesson is, if somebody gives you sump’n ask for the store receipt. However, if someone gives you a Sri Lankan spider they probably didn’t get it at a store.
Today the truck goes in for an oil change and tire rotation.
I don’t know why they recommend the oil change at 7500 and the tired rotation at 8000 miles.
The tires are getting rotated early because I’m not making 2 trips.
Spousal unit has departed. Higgs is outside for one last bark and pee before I lock her up and head out myself. I need to send daughter an email to remind her to come by… just in case…
I am having a much less blurfy day today, must be because it’s Friday. Sun’s shining, office is pleasantly warm and it’s only 2hrs until hometime. I’ve had my leave form signed for my trip to Hungary next month, and I got paid yesterday. Yup, not a bad end to the week at all.
This morning I had a meeting with the guys from the central timetabling office and managed to impress my erstwhile line manager with the amount of stuff I know/have done since I started here 3 weeks ago. Luckily I don’t want this job (he’s applied for it) or he’d find himself with some stiff competition.
