I just spent the afternoon covered in beeeeees!
First time I’ve been able to properly have a look in a hive; even got to play around with them a bit myself, and didn’t get stung.
Just time to nip home, scarf some food, and it’s back out to do stuff for this play tonight… Not sure what I’ll be doing this time.
It’s been one hell of a week for me. This morning was just the “topper” to the craptastic week.
I woke up to a lake on my kitchen floor. My freezer decided to die…or something and the ice maker was spewing water.
So, first thing, before coffee even, I had to empty everything in the freezer and fridge, mop all the water on the kitchen floor, pull it out, clean up behind there, and turn the damn water off. What a pain in the ass!!!
The soonest I can get anyone out here to look at it is Monday. I hope it’s repairable. It’s 10 years old next month and is a big side by side. My husband has already told me if it costs more than 500 bucks to repair, we will be buying a new one. Great, more money I don’t want to spend.
Hell, I’m not even sure the damn fridge part is working. For now, I’ve got it plugged back in (water still turned off), in hopes that I am not going to have to toss away a fridge full of food. It was full too, damn it. I had just gone to Costco last weekend.
Busy day today getting everything finished up for moving on Monday/Tuesday. I have been to Zumba and mr ems weeded the flower bed. When got back I mulched the bed then we washed the outside windows, he went to the post office to sent the change of address certified mail to the immigration peeps as they keep tabs on me as a non-citizen. The I stripped the sheets and the Mattress pad off the other spare bed and got those in the wash. Now all we have to do is get the stuff that is up in the loft (Christmas decorations and the like) down and we are ready. mr ems is suffering bad with allergies today so he took a Claritin and is currently sacked out on the couch taking a nap.
Supper is grilled steaks and broccoli with a squash/cheesy thing I make. I cleaned the oven the other night until it sparkled so we are only eating things that can be grilled outside or cooked on the stove top until we leave:D
Aw, {{{Taters}}} - you just can’t seem to catch a break.
We had breakfast in Rehoboth, walked their boardwalk, then drove to OC and walked their boardwalk. Not the entire length in either case - maybe an hour each all told. There was a kite-flying event in OC and I took a lot of pics - I’ll post a link when we get home, since the cable to download my camera is there.
We had lunch in OC - it wasn’t very impressive, but it was food so there’s that. I’m back at the hotel and **FCD **is out on his bike for a while. I may take a nap - I’s tahred! Or I might walk the block or so down to the beach - I can see the ocean from our room if I lean my face against the window and aim east!
I’m also going to look for something to do tomorrow - some place to go between here and home.
I have to say, I like resort towns off-season. This time next month, it’ll be crazy here!
Got a phone call last night reminding me I had dinner guests coming today, which I had forgotten. Good thing I’m well-stocked on potential dinners and can handle these little “oops” moments.
I think my cell phone carrier may have double-charged me, but I’m not sure. One charge is listed as pending, but that could be for DH’s phone. Getting two “we got your payment” e-mails could just have been a mail server hiccup, right?
Lent’s over, swampy. No need for mopin’ in the churchhouse.
I’ve made the executive decision to put off laundry till tomorrow. It’s going to be raining for the next couple of days, so I won’t be able to go up the mountain tomorrow. (I AM MISSING TRILLIUMS, RAIN.) The big plans for this afternoon include figuring out what I need to do and when I’m gonna do it and crocheting the Neverending Teal Blanket. I may also cut up a t-shirt for future rag rug makin’.
I resisted crocheting for a long time because I knew I would want to do all the projects. The urge is rising. I need to get a cross-stitch project going too. Dammit, why do I have to work for a living? It’s cutting into my textile crafting time!
Dindin is et. I sauteed some 'shrooms and then made a pretty good ‘shroom gravy for steak and wild rice. Plus I made a really good sallit with mixed greens, strawberries, little maters, mandarin orange slices, chopped pee-kahns and a raspberry vinagarette dressin’. I done good!
the Hunks have come and gone - more packed boxes, more trashed junk, and lots of flying dust. Tomorrow I will do something out that. Tonight I will collapse.
A very durable vinyl plank flooring has been laid, walls are wainscoted and primed, the washer/dryer stacking brackets located and I even took the opportunity to run a phone line to another room while the old floor and walls were out.
If all goes well, tomorrow, I just need to put in the trim, then the machines go back in. Some cabinetry and a folding counter will come later.
