The skies opened as I drove home!! I had to stop at CVS to pick up my meds - a whopping $1.69 for a 90-day supply of 3 prescriptions! Of course, I pay over $500/mo for our health insurance - wonder what my meds would cost without it?
Daughter is making supper tonight. I have no plans. I need to decompress - it was a busy day.
I got laundry done and  ironed shirts even! We have also supped, OLÈ!, and chillage now ensues.
Another good friend and church member has left us. Frank had been in hospice care the past couple of weeks and died at home surrounded by his wife, Sharyn, and family. His memorial will be on Sattidy at the church house with a reception afterwards. Our funeral attire has gotten quite a lot of wear lately. This can stop anytime. Oh, I also get ush duty.
I feel the need to decompress, too, Moooommmm. But the hubs will be out late tonight, so it’s just me and the kiddos.
Romeo is going to a training thing that our diocese (and the Catholic school system associated with it) makes all volunteers who might contact children go to. So if you’re going to volunteer at any school function, you have to be trained. And since there’s a volunteer requirement, there’s really no way around it. (Or you can be my husband and make me do all the volunteering, since I was already trained from my time as a religious ed teacher in college.)
The training is called VIRTUS, and it’s basically about protecting children from child abuse. So the message is: don’t abuse kids. Don’t let other people abuse kids. Tell people if you think someone is abusing kids. I make light of it, but it’s not a waste of time. It helps people recognize the warning signs and such. And I’m glad I won’t have to do all of the volunteering on my own anymore.
Not tired, since I did very little outside of paying a couple of bills. Tomorrow will be the busy day, need to mow, wash dishes, do at least one load of laundry, go to the bank, and pack for the trip. That should keep me out of trouble… Also need to call for a cab pickup about 4:45am Thorsday.
{{swampy}}. Seems like you have an aging congregation. Hope all others are doing well.
Juliet, the Soccer organization I volunteer with has what they call “Safe Haven” training about protecting the kids. I would think most volunteer groups that have any contact with kids have some sort of training like that.
Have fun decompressing, FCM.
Still 89F outside. Good practice, because the looked up the temperature in Beijing and it’s 95F! Only good thing is that will probably keep the tourist crowds down…
Juliet, if you’re for sure going to trade in the old car and the tire is unable to be patched, check out a used tire store. They’re usually in working class neighborhoods and aren’t always a bad deal. I’ve purchased one for each of my compact pickup trucks because they came with a donut as a spare (whose bright idea was that? ).
I didn’t even get as far as my desk this morning when my boss greeted me and told me that I needed to be in a 2 hour Kaizan event. There went my morning to-do list. Oh, well, I’ll get that done tomorrow.
By bringing me one!
It’s only 5° degrees cooler than yesterday, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 90° day with such blue skies. The hoomidity is much lower & it’s not so bad out.
Worked, walked Gordie in the 95 degree heat, napped. Making Italian Chicken with parmesan asiago potatoes, and spinach with basil and tomatoes. In sad news, Kroger is leaving the area, and closing 14 stores. I have a sad, I see some of the employees as often as my freinds, and I’ve shopped there for 30 years.:(:(
If I ever get out that way, I’ll buy you a* round.

That’s why I try not to miss Convention. We lose at least one friend right after every one.
She does do the books. Maybe we should do a GoFundMe for bail/acquittal after party.;)
Welcome back, CatDude!!!

*“a” defined as somewhere between a single beer and a 72 hour continous pub crawl(ask ruble }
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 98 and hyooooooomid for the day. I have an appointment to get my haid shrunk at eight-thirty to be followed by the layin’ in of provisions. We shall sup upon grilled poke chops and whatever side matter I decide upon. I may even get in some quality cee-mint pond time.
{{{Alien and mom}}} I went through that last year with my mom. If it’s decided hospice is the way to go, just know that hospice will do all that is possible to make sure your mom is comfortable and in no way suffers. Hospice is truly a wonderful service with some of the most carin’ people you will ever meet.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, I suppose I should purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public clothin’. Bother!
I hate getting stuck behind pokey vehicles on my commute. Today it was a truck pulling some kind of construction equipment on a trailer - barely doing 45 along a road with a limit of 50 where most folks do 60… So I’m starting my day with a grumpy.
On the plus side, this is payday week, so there’s that.
Up early with a long to-do list, have already paid the bills early, now waiting for it to get to a decent hour so I can mow the lawn before it gets too hot.
FCM, as long as it wasn’t on a twisty, climbing hill with a narrow two-lane road…
**MetalMouse **- it wasn’t a hill, but it was a 2-lane country road with minimal chances to pass which were always met with oncoming traffic…
I don’t understand grocery stores. Food Lion closed several locations in this area, and Weis moved in with higher prices. Luckily, the Leonardtown location remained FL. I stopped in Weis a couple of times and was not impressed. I also checked out the new Harris Teeter - even more $$$ than Giant, which is $$$ enough. It’s a plot!!
I like Aldi, but it’s not convenient. And I like McKay’s for some stuff, but they tend to be pricier also. I really dislike getting groceries at WalMart, mainly because of their lack of open check-out lanes. Why is my life so hard???
Red, the used tire shop is going to be our next stop. A patch is like $25… a used tire is still around $50. By the end of next week, that car will be gone, but we still need to be able to drive it to the various dealerships while we test drive and negotiate, since it’ll be the trade in. So there’s no way in hell I’m paying full price for a tire I’ll use for a week.
A story in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette of a particularly stupid thief. He swipes a woman’s purse from her car, and pays her with her own credit card at a restaurant two blocks away.
