Moanday Means A New MMP

Ahhhh – my heart bleeds for you. We ended up spending 8 straight days in amusement parks across three states in 95+ weather and doing 8am to 11pm in three parks over 5 days. AND I still found the time to revisit my jail-cell in Colonial Williamsburg and hit a couple antique shops. Someone in the shape you are should have come out of your weekend feeling rested and refreshed!

Short version ----- Six Flags Maryland SUCKS!!! Forget the fact that with a coaster convention the park should have been on its best behavior and preparation for us; just from the standpoint of the general public they were terrible. In all the trips and all the parks we have ever visited its the first time we saw multiple employees out and out cussing at perfectly well-behaved guests. And these were the guest services people for Christs sake; the ride ops people were at least OK and some were really good. But on a scale of 1-10 I give them a negative-27.

Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens were their usual terrific selves and the Adventure Park (near Bowie Maryland - the only safe spot in PG County) was fantastic as well as the small family-fun-park we hit in VA whose name escapes me.

Oh — and I almost bought another cannon yesterday in an antique shop; nice 1-pounder swivel with a terrible mount. But the price was a little over what I was willing to pay and the clerk at the mall didn’t want to call the owner with a counter-offer. Anyone ahem-- Spidey – ahem want to shell out $850 for a really great tube on a rather sad carriage shoot me a PM and I’ll tell you where it is.

Now to catch up on the various news and hijacks.

Third technically as Swampykins got first and second. But he’s been crossing the line more than once for ages.

a) Two MMPs enter, one comes out

or

b) We are accepting of all MMPs; even those that are “bi”

You would think with all the races … :stuck_out_tongue:

WOOHOO!!! Ya know, the one thing the OW and I kept wondering about the whole week without internet was how Mauser was doing. Terrific news!!!

Unfortunately that is the case with a lot of churches. We have a lot of congregations we refer to as “Q-tip churches” ----- from the back all you see in the pews are white tops sticking up.

Anyone else thinking “second opinion”? Anyone?

Hey! Its not like jackboots polish themselves. Give them some time already! Usually they just explain it away as “technical problems”.

See? Thanks to my amazing brain and cut and paste skills what did I tell you?

Stop fretting - I’m here!! We slept in, then went to breakfast , followed by the first showing of* Ocean’s 8* at 9:40 in the AM! It wasn’t oscar-worthy, but it was an OK movie. I’m afraid my opinion may have been slightly affected by my need (about halfway thru) to use the potty, but I didn’t want to leave and miss anything. I think I can safely recommend it for a cheapie matinee.

Afterwards, we stopped in Aldi’s, since it’s right there by the theater. I scored some good deals, including on ground beef. Laundry’s going right now, but eventually, I’ll repackage the beef for the freezer. I also got a couple of ham steaks because I’ve been craving ham.

**FCD **is down in his shop working and I just finished cleaning the critter fountain. Dunno where our housemates are, but we’re having a family meeting some time this weekend before things get too ugly. They claim the house where they lived in FL was such a wreck because of their landlady/roomie. I’m thinking they picked up bad habits… We’ll clear the air.

Other than that, it’s mostly overcast and I expect rain again today. Our grass really needs to be cut, but dunno if that’ll happen this weekend. We shall see.

Happy Saturday!

The highlight of the day here is I went to Dairy Queen and got all of us some ice cream.
First time I have ever gone there, except for the one in the armpit that is well known for the footlongs, not the ice cream.
Tell the truth I’m not even sure it has ice cream even though the sign says Dairy Queen.

I got Ripple a small cup of vanilla. He thinks a large would have been a better.

I’m guessing Dairy Queen features “frozen dairy desserts” rather than ice cream. But I still loves me some Peanut Buster Parfait!

What ever it is, it was good. There was no line, I suspect many were flocking to the Bruster’s Grand Opening.
I don’t like crowds, or long lines.

Howdy Y’all! Home from funeralizing/ush duty/fillin’ up candles with paraffin. I do some of the most interestin’ things over to the church house. Large attendance at the funeral as was expected. Lots of goodies at the reception afterwards as well. Good thing there were lots cause everything got et up. It was like watchin’ buzzards descend on road kill!

Even tho he’s long forsaken us, some of you might be interested to know that today **BBBobbio **became a grandfather of a babby boy!

Congrats to Bbobbio! I may have to actually interact with Facebook.

Back from CA. I got up at Oh-dark-thirty to accomplish this. My parents’ house is staged and on the market. There’s nothing quite as fun as being woken up from a sound sleep and having to tear down the bed you are in and put up the fake one in NOW - NOW - NOW. I decided to get the heck out after one session of that. I did offer to stay in a hotel, but they wouldn’t hear of it. Next time I’m booking the hotel and letting them know where I’ll be.

We’re moving in 6 weeks. I now have to take this seriously. Booooo. I’ll be rolling out a schedule for the me and the kids on Monday. I’m hoping we can get something done every day and make some steady progress.

Happy weekending everyone.

Went to the Draft Party. It was a debacle. How bad was it? I left a bar with 276 beers on tap, dead sober.:dubious: At least the Canes drafted the right guy. And the band at the VFW rocked. Worked today, laundered, walked Gordie in the sauna that is mid June Raleigh. Having a martini.

: pours an extra large maragarita :
YAY!

I saw. Congrats, BBBobbio!!!

Ruble, if it wouldn’t cut into my drinking money, I might go for it(The lease forbids grills, but is a mite fuzzy on swivel guns:D.

Good luck with the move, Sunny.

Conga rats bobbio!

I spent a couple of hours handling tickets for the ticketed events at Pride this morning, then watched the Equality walk. I stopped on the way home for a new toaster and prescription. Once home, I put everything away, as well as unpacked the box from Chewy that came the other day. Supper is in the oven right now (cabbage rolls) and a second batch ready to go in the oven tomorrow for the potluck/board meeting. One of the board members asked me to bring the kid bag, so I’ll have to prep that this evening. I’s tahred.

We were greeted by buzzards at Kings Dominion; several were perched on one of the tram stops when we entered the park.

They shortly flew off to never be seen again.

They already heard the legends of how bare ACErs can pick the usual buffet.

(I can e-mail pictures to anyone who wants. ACErs are also known for hitting every photo-op they can as well.)

This one was about this size

minus the little person of course and badly mounted on a make-shift carriage and was probably only shot by some little old lady on the 4th when she was really really drunk. The tube would have been worth about $650 to me and I think you could find a new one (this one was circa 1950 or I don’t know my cannons) for about a grand. The bore was near mint so LOL took care of it and you could set off every car alarm within a 5 city block cone from the muzzle (trust me – I know) but ---------- if you don’t have time to follow up on a serious offer, I don’t have the time to chase after you. I may – just may now that I am home – follow up and try to contact that vendor but then again its not like I need another big boom. I just always have room in my heart for a worthy child.

Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Off to work.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 98 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Yep, ‘tis summer in southwest Jawja! The plan for the day is deheathenization, in which I get to be the non-cannibal kind of lector, grillin’ burgers for N.O.L., and likely some quality cee-mint pond time. All in all should be a good day, I reckon.
Ruble I could see that as a nice conversation piece out at the cee-mint pond. Plus, when I’m ready for folks to leave firin’ it would be a subtle way to announce that.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

I know this is going to jinx it - but I’ve slept thru 2 nights in a row!! WOOHOO!!

If it dries out enough, I’ll mow today. We shall see. Other than that, no plans.

Happy Sunday!!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasting and getting ready to head to Nashville.

Happy Sunday.

Happy Sunday!

The sun is shining and the fan is blowing. Will probably have to close up the house and turn on the AC later.

I’m ready to kill the cat. This morning the dog was behaving himself and ignoring the cat, so the cat had to do the strut until he got the dog’s attention.
The cat is stupid and deserved to have his head chewed.

Nothing special to do today.

We had a McBreakfast while our housemates slept. Once we got home, I went out front with the loppers and took down a bunch of small trees that took root among the forsythia, and I pulled some weeds and some rampant wisteria. After dumping it all in the woods, I stopped along the path to gather bricks that somehow have appeared - I think when PJ (our driveway and landscape fixer) cleared the path, he unearthed them.

Bricks were piled with other bricks, then I gathered some crap that was in the back yard and took it to the truck so it can go to the dump. The truck was parked so that the bed was full of rainwater - I re-parked it so the bed was aimed down the slope and it’s all drained out now. Time to cool down before figuring out what else to do.

I’ve decided we need to have stuffed cabbage for supper tomorrow (Thanks, red!!) so after breakfast, I ran in to FL for cabbage and a sack of N.O.T. The rice is cooking right now, and shortly, I’ll chop and sauté the onions. Then I can scald the cabbage leaves while the other stuff cools down. It’ll get cooked up today, then cooled and put in the fridge, because it’s always better the second day. I think tonight’s supper will be ham steaks from Aldi.

Whew - I’ve got a busy day ahead! I think I’m weekending wrong…

**sari **- I’ve got a cat who torments another cat - usually at stupid hours of the night. Some cats are real bastards!

Talked with the kids - turns out SIL has been offered a full-time job (his old job) with bennies to replace the person doing the job right now. So yay for that! Also asked that they take over household trash and vacuuming as regular chores, as well as emptying the dishwasher. So there’s that.

I’ll also help my daughter apply for a job at the place I used to work in Dahlgren. Dunno if they’re hiring or if there are any vacancies she’d qualify for, but they have a recruiting office, so it’s a good start. And I’ll forward her resume to my former boss - it’s good to have a friend on the inside.

Rice is done - time to cook the onion and scald the cabbage. Good times!
