Mumping for Dollars (or writing an MMPOP when you have no ideas)

Yay! I finished my project in time! Well technically I’m still behind, but at least that part isn’t as important (I hope. We’ll see what my teacher says).

There was a party last night that turned into a really boring q&a between genders. I left early and invited a (gay) guy up to have a drink. And then my roommates and I are having a girls night tonight which I won’t have to feel guilty about because, again, I’m done with my project! (The project? Making Valentines for the Valentine exchange. They’re cute.)

I’m hoping I can get a lot done this weekend, including getting my room cleaned. I can just barely walk from the door to my bed. Admittedly part of that is because the room is tiny, but the pile is very high and I’m out of bras and warm pajames and nearly out of long sleeve shirts.

I survived another day at work and I’m at the start of my four day weekend.

I have a hair appointment for 9:00 am tomorrow. I am sooo glad. It’s long overdue.

I signed my performance appraisal today. My boss told me he’s putting me in for an award (really, he shouldn’t have told me that), so we’ll see how that pans out for me. He was very disgusted when he found out what my former bitch of a supervisor had awarded to me last year. I really hope he can do right by me. He top blocked me all the way and had some very nice things to say about my performance during my last rating period. He told me he wants me to become proficient in Business Planning, even though I’m technically not on the project for this year. I’m not all that excited about that, but I do need to learn, so I suppose it’ll be good for me.

There isn’t much else going on here in taterville. I’m fixing to start cooking up chop-chop.

I’m glad the fishies survived, **FCM **and I’m glad you finished your project Silver Tyger Girl.

Yay for projects being done, STG!

Glad to hear the boss came through with the review, Taters.

I’ve been knitting and watching fairly mindless TV. Thinking I should actually get to bed now.

It’s almost Firday!!!

Hugs.

I’ve been known to use that thing, yes, although I don’t have it available right now so I don’t know if I can be any helpful.

Gantt diagrams are the kind of thing that just works better on a whiteboard, judging by what a pain in the gluteii maximii every “we have Gantts!” program I’ve used has been.

Gratz on finally getting the review and it being Good, Taters!

Today I want to Call Mom, go see a Stupid Movie and see if I can find some material on Genre Analysis. I’ve got a tentative Dissertation Advisor (yay!) and Subject (re-yay!), which is nice.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN

The Winter Storm Watch [sup]TM[/sup] is in effect all day-umm day. Apparently it will start as rain around fiveish and turn into rain/snow/sleet/plagues/pestilence/locusts durin’ the day. Serioulsy. That’s what the weather folks are sayin’ or pretty close to. It’s all “OMG!!! WE’RE DOOMED!!!” even though nuttin’ is supposed to accumulate on roadways due to the fact that surface areas are at this time above freezin’.

Of course, since I have told the weather it cannot do this, I have no worries.

Yay on the good review Taters! Yay on the advisor/Dissertation topic Nava!

LiLi I shall join the ever growin’ chorus and chime in with you’d be good at home skoolin’. I imagine Nat & Co will learn their three R’s and how to bake!

Ok, I need more caffiene, brekkie and to check in on FB

Happy Firday Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! Today promises to be another quiet day in paradise, which is good because I slept really badly last night so I am tired.

All I have to look forward to is a trip to the supermarket and whatever I can be bothered to cook myself for dinner tonight. However, tomorrow will be better because we’re having Date Night and that involves curry. Woo and hoo!

LiLi, you will be great at homeschooling especially when it gets round to those Home Ec classes. Baking is bound to feature high up on the curriculum in your house.

Yawn. :o

Morning all; up and caffeinating, and getting ready to go to work, believe it or not. We’re on a two hour delayed arrival, at least; I have no idea what it’s like out there but am hoping that the main roads at least are clear. I’ll probably end up taking a cab both to and from work. The bus that goes directly to my work does seem to be running although the first bus I take is not. I need that first bus running to be able to get to work, unfortunately.

At least it’s FIRDAY, eh?

Sending happy thoughts your way, Swampy. Wish I was having some curry with you tonight, BooFae! As long as puris or chapatis or parathas are also involved, that is.

Happy Friday all.

I am home - exhausted after a 15 hour flight, 3 hour transit and another 1 hour flight. Blergh!!

I’ve used Project, Puggy. It’s really complex and not very well supported, so its tics remain unfixed for a long time. If you think you’ll need to use it, I’d recommend taking a course and having a manual to go with it. There are some Web-based alternatives starting to crop up like basecamp and 5pm.

If you’re using it and have a question…well…maybe GQ or another forum? I haven’t had the patience or time to really learn it properly (Word and Excel, on the other hand, I know quite a bit about).

It’s Firday!!! And I have a long weekend ahead. Wheeeeeeee!!!

GT

Maybe you should practice more.
Blurf. Another winter storm watch for Cottonfield County for tonight. I can haz summer?

Woohoo taters well done on the good appraisal.

I am officially moving signed the paper work with the re-lo people today so hopefully things will start moving. I shoud hear from the lawyer types next week about getting my visa started…

No problemo. It turned up in an ad I applied to yesterday which, after I spent an hour answering all the profile questions online, sent me an e-mail that it was filled.

There is pretty much zip on the job boards right now. It can only get better, right??

swampy, they are saying we might get some “flurries” down here, too. Oh, fine! It’s not like I haven’t already been freezing! :stuck_out_tongue:

Yay on the review, taters!!! Glad he finally came through.

There’s no place like home, eh, dotty??

I go to pick up my severence check this morning which will go right in the bank and I won’t breathe a sigh of relief until it clears. With very careful husbandry, I will be able to get by for a while.

Happy Firday, everyone!

Tupug

Well that was quick! Everything is a complete sheet of ice, several inches thick  So, there’s no way I’m going to get out today, it’s just too dangerous for me (I’m shaky as it is, using a rollator or cane to get around because of unsteady footing and bad knees). I actually -wanted- to get out too; I’ve got a bad case of cabin fever. :frowning: Ah well, better safe than sorry, as they say.

Congrats on getting home safe & sound, Dotty; did your hubby and HRH make out okay while you were gone?! And yay on the appraisal, Taters! Good (no flurries!) thoughts going out to Puggy.

Yeah, Firday.

Howdy! Saw Puck at the game last night, Canes won. Off to work, waiting for the snow.

Yay! Payday!

On the sad side, my boss’ father died very suddenly and unexpectedly yesterday; he’s had some health issues but nothing obvious that was a worry. She’s flying out to South Africa today. I feel so awful for her. :frowning:

It looks like we got an inch or so of snow overnight. Nothing big, but it’s nice to see.

Sorry to hear about your boss’s dad, snowbunny. :frowning:

I didn’t sleep at all last night due to this stoopid demon cold so I’m a bit of a zombie today. But I’m at work 'cause I wouldn’t be able to sleep if I did stay home so what good would it do? Plus, during the day I don’t feel as bad. Just when I try to sleep. Yippee.

I may suggest the alternate route to KT, swampy.

Blurf.

Opening ceremonies for the Olympics. Everyone at work is super-pumped for it, especially Awesome Boss, because she just moved here from Vancouver a couple of years ago and still thinks of herself as a West Coaster.

Speaking of which, Awesome Boss has been having a crappy week, so we’re collecting some cash from everyone on the team to go buy her a Team Canada sweater. Fingers crossed that they’ll still have some Olympics merch left over by the time we get to the store. gulp

I admit I have a huge soft spot for the Olympics. I’m off work at seven tonight and I hope I’ll be able to catch most of the opening ceremony online – I think I’m signed up properly to be able to. Perhaps I should have gotten cable just for this month?

One nice thing is that everything will be happening only an hour earlier than here. And I had escaping Canadians in my office yesterday looking for somewhere to stay. I guess it’s more than a little crazy in Vancouver at the moment.

I like the figure skating the best - I used to like ice dancing, too, before I discovered how much I enjoy watching ballroom competitions - no comparison.
