Mumping for Dollars (or writing an MMPOP when you have no ideas)

Good morning everyone.

I’m sorry to read about your boss’s dad, snowbunny.

I’m leaving shortly to get my hair done. I’m so looking forward to having it look decent again and not having gray show. It sucks being a person who grays early.

I used to love the winter Olympics. I don’t know if I’ll be watching any of the Olympics this year, though. For some odd reason, they just seem to have lost the allure they once held for me.

It is rainy and icky here.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you, Pugs. I hope something turns up soon.

I’m glad you made it back safely, Dotty! Now, get some rest!

Great news, **ems! ** I hope things move quickly for you now.

I guess that’s all for now.

I have a slight headache. I hope it goes away soon.

I’m just sitting here waiting for a client to call me with information about a new client before I head off for TVLand for the weekend. Hope she calls me back soon.

I was only dimly aware that the Olympics were due to start some time around now. Bad unpatriotic unsportsminded person!
Baking bread, hanging around, and doing chores here. Right now, for instance, I ought to be unloading the dishwasher. Which I am definitely doing. Right now.

Ok! Two clients actually called, so I’ll be off to TVLand very soon. Well, as soon as I pack. Did I mention that I’m really terrible at packing and hate it very much? :dubious:
ETA: Even though I’m there twice a week, I really don’t have enough clothes to leave there permanently. Especially since most of my clothes are too big for me except for those that I’m still too big for. Someday it will all even out, I suppose.

Also, Mr. Fishy is back in his regular tank and seems to be much happier!

Pie - do what I do - My suitcase always has tooth & bath stuff, tissues, make up, and assorted other things that do not need attention on a regular basis - It takes me 15 minutes to pack my clothes, undethings, and sleepwear. Sometimes, if I have a few trips in a relatively short amount of time (usually happens in the spring) I’ll even pack canvas bags - leave the suitcase in the car trunk - and just tote the laundry up and clean stuff back down.

Howdy Y’all from snowy (but not stickin’) south Jawja! It has rained, snowed, snowed and rained which I have decided is called snain and even a teeny bit of freezin’ rain. Non sticky though. I have forbidden any of that.

Dotty glad you got home safe. Has HRH glued herself to ya?

snowbunny sorry about your boss’s dad.

Chili for dindin tonight. And cornbread. Must have cornbread with chili.

**Taters **- congrats on finally getting evaluated - fingers crossed for a nice bit of recognition.

**Dotty **- welcome home, and yay for your good news!!

**Puggy **- good job-luck thoughts beamed your way…

**swampy **- keep your damned snow down south. We don’t need any more.

Everybody else - TGIF!!! Let’s form a Mumper Conga Line!!!

I don’t have to work tomorrow. I got everything and a little more done today with 5 minutes to spare. I even had my monthly sit-down with the boss to discuss what I’ve been doing. I was really ready to spend all day tomorrow at my desk, but it’s not necessary, so YAY!!!

Daughter and SIL cleared from the driveway to the back gate. Tomorrow, I’ll take it from the gate to the oil tank, and I’ll feel much better. Then I’ll call our oil company and find out when we’re scheduled for a delivery. When I lived in Baltimore. I ran out of heating oil, and it was not pleasant. I don’t want to deal with that here.

So, weekend plans besides digging out some more - gonna get my slab roller finished and try it out. In fact, I intend to do some clay work this weekend. I’ve got several requests, and I’d like to make some planters for myself.

Now, do I want to cook supper or be taken out to eat?? hmmmmmmmmm

you want to be taken out.

Taken out, of course, mooooom! Unless weather is too crappy, eating out is always the option.

Thanks for the good job hunting vibes. That will work. I have decreed it. (Well, it works for swampy.)

Check is in the bank and the teller says it should clear by Weds (cause Monday is Presidents Day banking holiday). It was taxed all to hell and nearly $1,000 in SS!!! (Don’t ever say I haven’t done my part, your excellency Mr. President.) :stuck_out_tongue:

Y’all remember BrassyDeb from my bambilance stories? Her daughter’s house (in Georgia) burned to the ground this morning. No hugs, please.

Am I a jerk for thinking this will be a golden opportunity to get rid of old clothes and unused furniture?

doesn’t the daughter need four walls and a roof within which to keep said hand-me-downs?

No you are not a jerk BBBobbio. I imagine they could use it right now.

Ummmmmmmm… it’s snowin’. It’s also stickin’. ICK!!! I told it not to even! On the plus side it’ll quit in a couple of hours cause it’s a fast movin’ system headed for the Keerliners so it seems.

On the plus side also, it sounds like a good excuse for some hot buttered rum or some hot chawklit with a hefty shot of rum.

Awesome Boss was totally psyched by her gift. Like, TOTALLY. I love being able to do something nice for people who deserve it.

Vundy, I don’t suppose you can unload a cat or two while you’re at it, can you?

Also, I nearly forgot about it, but it’s actually a long weekend! WOOT! I think odds are pretty good I’ll forget again between now and Monday, and I’m so out of it in the morning that I very well might get halfway to work before realising my mistake. :stuck_out_tongue:

On that note, 'tis quitting time. I’m outta here!

Note to Muppet:

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GO TO WORK MONDAY!
It’s still snowin’! There appears to be at least two inches of snow in my backyard. I searched da cave for AA batteries but, alas. there are none to be found so I can’t take pitchers to show y’all.

Two inches - big fat hairy deal… :stuck_out_tongue:

I took daughter to Bad Chinese and brought home stuff for **FCD **because he didn’t want to go out. I’m going to try to finish my latest afghan this evening. I’m tired of knitting it - I want to try another pattern. Wah Wah Wah!!!

Crap - we may get another whomp of snow on Monday. That doth well and truly suck. Enough already.

Sorry about boss’s Dad, snowbunny. :frowning:

I used to be a big Olympics fan, too (fueled especially by having been in Mexico for the 1968 Olympics when I was not quite 11). Sadly, they’ve become both too political and too commercial, so they’re not as exciting as they used to be. I usually watch part of the opening and the closing and a few items in the middle, but it’s nothing like when I was younger and watched everything I could spare the time for.

There has to be something out there for you, Puggy. What kinds of jobs are you looking for? Have you read through the tips in this thread? You could start the next generation of this thread (the old one is pretty stale). Good luck, in any case.

Glad you got home safely, Dotty.

And it’s great to hear that the paperwork is starting to move, mmmmmmm.

Hope the weather improves for everyone. They ran a story a while ago on All Things Considered about a guy who’s collecting snow pictures from all 50 states. It appears that there will be snow in every state today. He’s got pictures from all but 7 states. Here’s his latest blog post.

Happy to be home for a long weekend. Guess I should consider something for dinner.

Back later.

GT

as of 5:45 blog time, he’s only missing Wyoming and Hawaii. Wyoming should be easy enough to get, but where, unless one goes to the top of the volcano, is one going to find snow in Hawaii?
eta: then there’s this

I think he was counting on someone in Hawaii getting a shot of volcano snow, because, yeah that’s all of it there… Cool that he’s got 48, at least, though. I imagine Wyoming will be checking in soon…

The last time I was down your way it was for that amusement park that keeps gators under its one rollercoaster – Wild Adventures? It was like 110 degrees and 85% humidity. I remember wishing for some snow.

Yah think He could just be gettin back at me for not giving a specific date?
I did give the neighbors a bit of a show and used the Yamaha as a sort of psychotic snowblower. In my defense it was the only thing that would cut through how tight it was all packed and get the distance to clear the part of the garage/driveway already cleared. On the other hand its just another case where the neighbors got to say “That old feller just ain’t right in the head”. That being the actual case as well, I cleared a little area around the grill and cooked out hotdogs, burgers and kielbasa with enough leftovers to see us through our weekend plans.

Tomorrow is doing some stuff at Muvvers, going to the home to visit her and take her some treats for the nurses to stash in their freezer (Klondike Bars), and then Outrageous BINGO! (AKA “Gay Bingo”). Miss Thea Trix always goes out of her way to get the best “halftime” entertainers and with this being so close to Valentines Day is should really be kicking. Plus everyone is half cabin happy from basically being snowed in for a week. Her Ladyship and I have both been sitting around like kids before Christmas - don’t get me wrong, we love each other. But we’re also really needing so see some silly faces other than just our own. Sunday is church stuff which are good faces too ----- just other than Pastor not that much sillier than our own.

I’ll never take a snow day again. My God, I was busy at work today–got in early, left late, still had to go to the grocery, but now it’s all put away, I’m fed and off to the bath.

Is it me or are the Olympics being very Canadian? There was very little hype here, that I can recall. I figure the opening ceremony has probably started, but my bath comes first. I really like to watch the figure skating, but Daughter isn’t here, so half the fun is gone (she was a figure skater, although not of Olympic caliber, of course!).
2 whole days before Hell Week starts. Yay!
