I’m so sorry for your loss, StGermain. I literally can’t imagine. You have my very best wishes.
Like others said, I’m so sorry and I send my prayers to his family and friends.
Suicide has really hit me hard over the past few years. I had a coworker commit suicide at my office 2 years ago and just a couple of weeks ago, I tried to help someone on Twitter who I’ve never met in real life. It’s always rough when I get train alerts from the CTA and immediately know it’s a suicide by train.

St Germain, I am so sorry about your nephew.
StGermain, I’m very sorry and wish you well.
You, and/or others who were hit by this suicide, might benefit from joining a suicide loss group. The people there will all have experience and will be ready to talk as much as you want to and need to. There are real life groups and online groups.
Condolences, StGermain. I’m very sorry for your loss.
My condolences to you and everyone involved, St. Germain.
Ok, I went past the first couple of comments like this, but now I’m angry.
People commit suicide because they are in so much pain that even being dead is better. Give a little compassion for a guy who was hurting so much that he opened a car door and jumped out in front of traffic.
Depression is characterised by poor judgement. Accept that he was hurting so much that he couldn’t think straight. But go the next step too, and accept that he was hurting so much that his pain was worse than the other people we feel sympothy for. Because horrible and sad and destructive and traumatic as it is, they mostly aren’t going to be in so much mental pain that they can’t think straight and walk out in front of traffic.
StGermain, something like this is a punch in the gut even just reading about it, You, the rest of your family, and expecially the young man who is now dead, all have my sympathy, and I share a tiny part of your pain.
This puts yet another spin on it.
Hugs to you, St. Germain. ![]()
So very sorry. This is very sad.
I’m so very sorry, and I know how damn inadequate that is. Hugs to you and thoughts for you and your family.
Wow was those poor kids in the car also ?
not to get too political but one does wonder if the millions spent on today’s dick-waving in dc couldn’t of been better spent on trying to help people like him …
My deepest condolences to all involved StGermain.
Thank you everyone for your sympathy and condolences. The funeral was today. His wife was beside herself, as you can imagine. His brothers trying to be brave, being teenaged boys instead. Just so sad.

I’m so sorry for your loss.
I knew someone, one of our group of jammers, who did something similar.
He was standing on a Skytrain platform, arguing with his girlfriend. The train was coming in, and they come in very fast. He texted a note to the girl and while she was reading it, jumped.
It’s still a shock. My friend was 34. Like your nephew, I believe it was impulsive. I doubt either of them entered the car or the station with the intent of dying that day. I don’t think there was any intent to hurt the other driver or the people on the train. I don’t think they were thinking at all, at least not clearly.
I hope everyone is able to move on from this. It won’t be easy, but it can be done.
StGermain, I hope that the family is finding a way towards recovery after such a difficult loss.
** gkster** - Thanks you, we seem to be recovering from the shock, at least.

And now, less than a year later, my nephew’s 2 year old son drowned last night. It’s just beyond comprehension.

Oh, my God! I am so sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine what your family is going through.
Oh my word. I can’t even begin to imagine. I am so, so sorry - I don’t know you, but I’m thinking of you. Look after yourself and your family.
Words fail me. I am so sorry for you and your family.
