My very first MMP!

Happy Tuesday. I’ve finally got a minute to join in the crowd.

Tiny Tabitha went to the vet this afternoon because she peed on my bed AGAIN yesterday. I told Seasonal that I strongly suspected either a bladder infection or a case of being an instigating bitch, so she went to be checked to see which it is. I haven’t heard the verdict yet.

Getting my :tooth: :crown: tomorrow. Am nervous. Will be taking my calming medication with me for the procedure.

Good news is tonight is Bad Movie Night. The Mads (from MST3K) are doing their third livestream show in half an hour and I’m gonna watch. It’s something called "Walk the Dark Street." Never heard of it but from the description it sounds like a Korean War version of “The Most Dangerous Game” with bad acting. I expect it to be film extra-noir which means so dark you can’t even see most of it.

swampy, I’m thinking paisley silk PJs would look good. Unless…you have aspirations to be promoted to cardinal, then go with the red. :stuck_out_tongue:

Glad Echo is getting back to herself sari . It takes the girls a little longer than the boys.

flytrap, you may well be SOL with the quarter thing. The last laundromat that I was at was cashless, slider cards or tokens only. It cuts down on robberies for the all night ones.

shoe, my dad in northern Indiana got the same sunrise as you did. It really drives home that it’s a small planet.

bumba, any time I’ve had to use my epi pen or even the asthma inhaler, it not only has affected my heart rate and ability to get to sleep, but messed with my BG as well. Keep an eye on that.

Irked, came home, sacked the trash to take to the dumpster in the morning, swept the laundry room, kitchen, bathroom and entry way, walked the dog and et supper. Chilling in the studio and searching for something bingeable to stream, since reality tv seems to have kicked NCIS to the curb for a while.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Update: Tabitha has to stay overnight at the vet so they can get a urine sample.

Part of me thinks this serves her right for peeing on my bed twice. Don’t try me, cat.

Short sort today, everything went OK. I fear the worst.

Tie dye?

I will dust for whiskey and bacon.

Taters!
: tacklehug :

Twister (cat #2) went to the vet on Saturday for her first exam since I got her. It was not easy getting her in the carrier – I lost my grip on her front half when she went completely psycho and I ended up holding her by her tail, and that’s how I crammed her into the carrier in a most undignified way. Some blood (mine) was shed. She’s fine, her tail’s fine (I told the vet what happened and asked her to make sure I hadn’t injured her – I was assured that only her dignity was injured). The vet also said she was very easy to handle. I wonder what cat she saw??

Now you may prepare to envy me. The vet needed a stool sample so I obtained one today and dropped it off at the vet’s office. It was quite fresh and quite pungent. I’ll bet the makers of Daisy Sour Cream didn’t think one of their containers would end up as a kitty poo containment pod. :cat2: :poop:

Doggie, we can work as a team. You dust while I eat the bacon and pour the whiskey down the drain!

How bout, you eat bacon, I drink the whiskey, and we teach Roxy to dust for us?

It’s a deal! When do we leave?

Wait for me! We ALL eat the bacon, doggio and I drink the whiskey, and I change the diapers! (Roxy’s only. Everyone else is on their own.) You can’t pass up that deal, right?

I’m dog-dreaming HARD over here. Like… looking on Petfinder and everything. Part of it has to be because two of my favorite foster dogs have been popping up on my Facebook memories. Both completely pathetic when I got them, needed me, and ended up being completely delightful dogs. Like, they’re the sort of dogs who are karmic rewards for rescue work.

Also, I’m really struggling with the quiet house. I jump every time the ice maker makes noise. The whole thing makes me anxious, like someone’s standing behind me the whole time. And I just (sort of) think a dog would help.

It’s not a plan, just a fantasy for now. I’m not committing to anything for as long as it would take to see out a dog’s life. I could maybe foster. There are two dogs on Petfinder that look sorta-kinda interesting. One is an 11-year-old “pug mix” who, according to her profile, can be a little cranky/snappy (probably due to worsening vision) when startled and so shouldn’t be in a home with kids or other dogs. The profile says cats are okay. I can deal with cranky/snappy and have many times… as long as she really is okay with the cats. It also says she’s housebroken and has been in the shelter over 30 days and… that kind of checks all my boxes. Housebroken, okay with my cats, and really needs me. I think I’ll bookmark her and give it a week and see how IOP is and then… maybe ask.
The other is a Golden Retriever. I like to pretend idgaf about breed, but I do really like Goldens. She’s old enough that they “aren’t saying” her age, but you can see it in her face. Her profile says she doesn’t do stairs easily… well, I don’t either. Goldens are pretty in demand, though, so there’s a good chance someone else will come for her. She’s also through a Golden rescue and they have all kinds of requirements (because they can because everyone wants their dogs), one of which is a fenced yard, which I do not have. What I do have is a lot of experience with dogs (and seniors in particular), a modified-to-be-accessible house so that we can go out together without stairs, and some good sources for veterinary care. I’ll keep an eye on her, too. The fence is a requirement of the rescue, not based on the individual needs of the dog. If they’ve got people better than me lined up for her, more power to them and I wish her the best. If not… I’ll ask them if it’s a rule that can be bent if it’s a conscientious adopter who will keep her on a leash and otherwise a pretty good fit. They also don’t have the adoption fee listed for her and I suspect that it’s high. I’ve heard many times that it’s tough to adopt from that rescue.

Anyway… there are a hundred million reasons a dog is a bad idea. But I can still look and pretend.

Remind me to never pee in your bed. Gives pissed off a whole new definition.

I’m thinking an Altoids tin would be fun also. Especially of you took the mints out first. The residue would help with smell though…

I’ve forgotten who’s eating and drinking what but I’ll hang clothes outside, mend and iron, bake amazing cookies and brownies, can be induced to make pies. Will bring my own rum. I can be ready in an hour. FCM will have to put bunk beds in those two guest bedrooms she foolishly told us she had.

There are a hundred and one million reasons a dog is a good idea.

:musical_note: :world_map::oncoming_automobile::motorway::blue_car::world_map::motorway::notes: Going on a road trip Boo*

Evening all. Soccer for the girls has been practiced, the skies have been gloomy looking all day but not a drop of rain (that’s still down south) and nappage was pretty short today. All in all not a bad time. The usual 2sday Mac-n-Cheese has been assimilated (I was tempted to stop and get a 3-scoop Butter Pecan cone instead, but I behaved myself…this time.

No soccer tomorrow, so may look at mowing the yard, depends on what the weather brings. More likely I’ll get my hair cut, it needs trimming more than the yard does anyway.

FCM, sounds like the house may be crowded, but since I have no household skills at all, will forbear making the trip this time. Have fun sorting the jobs out…

Dot, you know best if you can handle the responsibility of a dog(s), but if you really feel you can and can give them a good home…go for it.

Cats and OW, thanks for the testimonials that help convince me that not being a cat person is a good thing.

Sari, sounds like Echo came through the operation just fine. Hope she leaves the stitches alone.

Bumba, the very idea I would try to get your CD’s??? (I’m angling for the Iphone…). Stay well.

Shoe, Dad’s gotta dad.

All y’all take care tonight. Hump day is coming.

@BippityBoppityBoo, I’m a decent cook, can cope with housework when I have time/energy, and enjoy wrangling pets and kids (might have some unease about Pretzel, though). I also don’t do alcohol, so you have a designated driver already.

Air quality is improving in Sacramento, although still not great. At least we’re down to the orange section of AirNow’s scale.

Everyone at irk thinks the callers are more irksome than usual, and we all pretty much hate the front-line “staff”. Traffic is also getting heavier and dumber here.

Lunch was disappointing. Went to a supermarket near irk, supposedly a high-end chain. Could NOT get a staff member in hot deli to acknowledge my existence to sell me some food. McD’s drive-through was too backed up. Wound up getting a chicken sandwich at AM/PM that left much to be desired, like flavor. Decided to get chicken from Jollibee for dinner (better than KFC, IMO, and the Church’s near me does not seem sanitary enough to eat at), got the “burger steak” (hamburger patties in mushroom gravy) for DH.

If you work it right you could accomplish both without leaving your yard. I’d go for a slightly longer haircut than customary though. :haircut_man:t2::tractor::haircut_man:t3:

Boo

Dammit. I mean, who is Rat? Why did I get Plant, or whatever it is? Rat is cool!

dammit.

You’ll always be Rat to me. Mostly because of your icon. That’s my favorite Pearls Before Swine character.

They’re annoying little :poop:heads sometimes and then they’re sweet as can be. Murphy curled up on my lap a little while ago and loud purred. I hated to have to move him, but I needed to turn my blanket. It was a work in progress blanket and I had to turn the corner for the edging.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to sort.

And how.

It’s 0300, so hopefully Moooommmm! is up and washing the guest linens pending our arrival.

Dots, the foster idea might be good. No long term commitment, unless you find the right dog and you foster fail. :dog:

I was actually up a little after 0300 (stoopit bladder) and two hours later, I’m still up, but fed and sorta-dressed in sweats (it dropped to low 50s overnight and I’d left some windows open.) Taz slept next to me most of the night - he was probably cold.

Speaking of cat pee, he went thru a brief phase of peeing on my side of the bed, and once actually on me! :open_mouth: So we added some urinary health cat food to the mix, and it’s been fine ever since.

Once FCD is up and about, we’ve got a lot to do before the painters get here. The bathroom will be pretty easy - I can put everything in the shower. The hall bathroom is practically empty, so it’ll be easy also. The biggest hassle will be all the stuff on the chest, dresser, and night stands in our bedroom - a lot can be boxed, but some is just too big - like the lamps. We’ll probably just stack it all on our bed. I’d like to run the vacuum thru there before they start. And I’ll need to cut back the carpet in the dining room. Whew - I’m exhausted already!

Plus I’ll need to fetch Roxy around 10 or so because SIL works his second job from11-3. I hadn’t counted on having her today. But I can deal.

And I don’t know what to do for supper. There’s one pack of hamburger helper in the pantry. I may just jazz that up with a bunch of veggies to make some sort of casserole. Or order pizza. Either way…

Happy Wednesday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and rainyish, i.e. little off and on showers, with a predicted high of ONLY 75 (will there be an iceberg in the cee-mint pond?) with rain/tstorms/apocalypse all afternoon, evenin’, and into tomorrow. Sally shall be amongst us. Garnerin’ provisions may be delayed until Firday. It’s not like we are in the direst of need for stuff, so we will survive. Mostly I foresee stayin’ inside and dry as the smart thing to do, bein’ as neither of us just has to be anywhere. There’s leftover poke roast from Moanday which shall get shredded and turned into bbq. BBQ sammiches, coleslaw, and fries shall comprise sup.

MOOOOOOM sounds like a pizza day to me what with Roxy wranglin’ and painters. Plus, well, pizza is always a good idea.

sari hope Echo is better today, poor baby, even though she appears not to be sufferin’ too much.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!
