Johnny, that post sounds scary!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Everybody with bad roads stay safe.
Morning all.
Fingers crossed for a quick recovery for FCD
Things are starting to open up on campus again today- I can tell this, because I got woken up by the grounds crew with a leaf-blower at dawn… Not the best start to the morning, especially as I’ve followed that up with a… well… ambiguous plague test. I think I can see a line, but it’s only visible from some angles. Given that I now have a slight sore throat, as do 5 (nope, just got messaged, now 6) other people who have tested positive from NYE, I’m gonna assume I’ve finally caught up with the zeitgeist and isolate
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 33 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 62 and partly N.O.S. for the day. No biggie plans for the day which is fine by me. Sup shall be ham/N.O.T./corn soup and corn bread muffins. YUM!
Nuts here’s hopin’ you don’t have the plague.
All y’all with icy roads and such, be safe out there.
MOOOOOOM hope FCD has a good recovery day.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. .Then, onward into the day! Rah
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
I only posted about him being a county guy in protected accounts - friends only. I did do a post on a community board, but I just said he had other commitments and couldn’t fit me in - deliberately nebulous.
FCD woke me with a text just after 5. He’s lonely. And the nerve block still hasn’t worn off, so he’s worried about being kept there longer. Not that we can do anything about it - he’ll have to talk to the doc when she does rounds.
It’s 18-stoopit-degrees out there this morning, and we might break freezing later this afternoon. More snow promised later in the week. Rah. After the sun comes up, I need to dig out part of the back yard for Higgs. She has some room under the eaves to pee and poo, but I’ll clear a couple of paths to other leaf piles.
If I have the energy, I’ll work on the big pile in the driveway to completely unblock the door and the truck. But that’s a major task and it’ll take a few days, methinks. I’m achy from the little bit I shoveled yesterday, plus the blister on my thumb burst - another annoying little pain.
On the plus side, my daughter has another snow day, so no Toby. I’d be really nervous about backing out of the garage at the moment anyway - the driveway was slick last night, so it’ll still be bad this morning. I hate winter! And the other plus side - the garage stayed in the 50s overnight, My car should start just fine when I have to go. But that won’t be till later.
I was exhausted last night. I watched an episode of Death in Paradise, then went to the bedroom figuring I’d watch Damn Yankees before sleepage. I kept dozing off in the first half hour or so - Maybe I’ll watch it later today. I did mostly sleep well, and so far, I’ve tended to the critters, fed my face, and I’m caffeinating. I need to clean the pellet stove - it’s loaded with ash. Then I’ll push the vacuum around and do some tidying. Sounds like a day for adulting.
Happy Tuesday!
Good morning everyone.
We had hellacious rain on Sunday night and I fully expected all the snow to be gone. It was not, we still had quite a bit in the yard, on the driveway, and our street and cul-de-sac. It snowed a good amount yesterday afternoon and we got about another inch. It’s currently about 34 degrees outside. We’re supposed to reach a high of around 40 degrees and see a rain/snow mix. I wouldn’t be surprised.
I’m glad FCD’s surgery went well, FCM. I hope your trip back to the hospital today is safe.
Dicey, I’m glad your travels were uneventful.
nellie, I sure hope your travels went well. I’m in the same boat as you when it comes to traveling. I like to leave plenty of time for road mishaps and don’t mind getting to the airport early. In fact, I prefer it. I can grab some coffee, people watch, and take a final bathroom break before getting on the airplane. I hate using airplane toilets and do my level best to avoid doing so.
I had to call out sick (well email in) yesterday. I had a hell of a time going to sleep, finally fell asleep for like an hour, then woke up to an awful headache, nausea, and the urge to vomit if I moved too much. It’s been a looong time since I’ve had one of those types of headaches and I knew the only thing I could do was sleep it off once I got past the worst of the dizziness and nausea. I was supposed to go into the office yesterday, but I’ll go later this week.
At any rate, it’s back to the salt mines today, and I’m sure I’ve got a ridiculous amount of email and problems awaiting me. Nothing to do but get through the day, though.
FCD just called - they’re discharging him around noon. I just finished showering and getting dressed, and I’m going to push the vacuum around, then tidy things so he can get in here without killing himself. I need to get his walker out of the baby’s room, too.
And I’m supposed to stop on the way and get him a Diet Coke because he’s going thru withdrawal. I hope McD’s is open.
The adventure begins…
Morning all. The garage door people will be out tomorrow (sometime) to look at the garage door, so do I stay around my house today or do my shopping as planned? This is a perfectly safe neighborhood and I live at the end of a cul-de-sac, but I’m still nervous about have an open garage…we’ll see.
Still snow on the ground but it’s 34F now and supposed to get to 48F later today, so I expect most of it will be gone by this afternoon.
FCM, glad FCD is getting out soon; hope the PT and pain doesn’t stress him (and you) out too much.
Nut, fingers crossed that the plague missed you and you’re just having the usual winter ailments.
OK, need to have something to eat and then probably head off shopping. All y’all take care.
Taters, I used to get those headaches too, haven’t had one in quite awhile, hope you’re feeling better.
Hi, y’all. Just poking in to say “hi” though there’s not much to share.
Much love to y’all.
I’m getting a PCR, but, given the circumstances, I’m pretty sure it got a hit. Apparently around 75% of ‘colds’ here are currently Covid due to the mahoosive rise in Omicron- we’re at over 1.3/100 people testing positive in this area, and that’s actually going to be artificially low due to the holidays delaying testing.
Plus I’ve literally been in close contact with no-one in the last 4 days, since spending an evening inside in a room along with 6 people who have tested positive - followed by driving at least one of them home.
I mean, Sherlock Holmes I ain’t, but… ![]()
Vacuuming is done. I shoveled a path for Higgs, so she has a few more spots to pee, plus she can get up to the door at the deck. I walked the driveway - it’s frozen, but not smooth - I should easily get traction. So, off to the credit union, McD’s, and the hospital. It’s barely after 10 and I’m exhausted!
nellie, hope you got where you wanted to be without too much drama
nut, hope you get a mild case, if it is the plague. Must be frustrating to be careful for so long, and to now get caught.
FCM, glad to hear FCD’s getting released. My mom’s scheduled to get her left knee replaced on March 1st, so I’m taking notes.
Metal Mouse Do you have a neighbor who could keep an eye on the garage while you’re away? Hope the garage door specialists can get it fixed soon.
Flyboy and Taters Seems that I got lucky and managed to leave on the best day for driving and flying.
It was nice to walk to the store this morning and not have to worry about slippery spots. Tomorrow afternoon the temperature will drop to below freezing. Hopefully our trip to get boostered will hit the sweet spot of after the rain and before the temperature drop.
Currently enjoying salt water taffy from Seaside, Oregon. My mom had asked for suggestions, so I mentioned salt water taffy. She then said something to a friend, about where was she going to find salt water taffy, and the friend happened to be going to Seaside.
She grabbed all sorts of flavors. Assuming it’s this place, I just had black walnut (which wasn’t clear to me until I read the description, based on the picture, and then I was able to identify it).
And while we were at my parents, I made both peanut butter and chocolate fudge. Forgot to bring some fudge with us, but I did get the recipes.
Mmmm, sugar. ![]()
In the orifice. The drive in wasn’t too bad. Rather windy, and there was rain and snow; but I made it in before 07:25. Sunup is at 07:57 this morning (Before 8 o’clock!), so theoretically I’d be able to see it in three minutes… if there were no clouds.
Sitting in the hospital waiting for the discharge. It’s up to PT. Fingers crossed…
Just finished filling buckets and the tub, with water due to be shut off in 5 minutes, for the next 8 hours. Yay.
Nut I hope your illness, whatever flavor of ick it is, runs its course quickly and with no lingering effects.
Dice are you back in Geneva now?
Nettie I hate water outages. I hope yours stays on schedule and is as painless as possible.
Yesterday I had a mother-trucking headache, and spent most of the day under covers. Today is somewhat better. I am upright and accomplishing computer-type things at least.
Last weekend wasn’t great. Family drama and stress. I ended up at the ER being evaluated for a heart problem. Good news, whatever it was isn’t “emergent”, so I got liberated from the ER. I don’t know what happened though and have been directed to my PCP to find out more. Grrrrrr.
'Beamer went to school yesterday and then came home to report that most of the staff and most of the students were out. We decided to keep him home the rest of the week, to give Omicron time to crest. We’ll re-evaluate at the weekend.
Today I return my attention to our re-fi. Every time I think we’re done, some other form ends up being needed.
Take care everyone and stay safe.
Shopping has been completed, gas tank filled, and groceries all put away, and house is still standing. Took a closer look at the garage door, I can see where the bottom panel got dented, we’ll see what they say tomorrow.
Dicey, I’m just being paranoid. The street I live in is a cul-de-sac, it is a very quiet neighborhood (I think the last time I saw a cop car here was when somebody across the street passed away suddenly) so the odds of being burglarized are very low–just something that is out of the ordinary, and I don’t like disturbances in my routine (unless I plan for them). Meanwhile, enjoy the taffy.
FCM, hope FCD is out by now.
In that case, Nut, take care and get well soon.
shoe, I share that I went shopping and gassed up my car. Nothing is too mundane for us.
Seanette, hope the water holds out.
Sunny, I noted that everyone has a mask on in Wal-Mart today–and this is Ali-bama, mind you, so people seem to be taking it seriously. Hope your heart settles down and head stops aching.
Ok, back to internettin’ All y’all take care.
Still waiting. It’s 2PM. So much for getting him out by noon…
And he’s being kept one more night. The doc doesn’t want him going home as long as the nerve block is keeping him from moving his foot - it makes him a serious fall risk. So I’ve come home to finish the chores I started earlier, and with luck, they’ll break him loose early tomorrow.
So exciting…
It did get warm enough today to melt the ice on our driveway. So there’s that. We shall see what tomorrow brings…
Moommm It would have been nice if they had told you they were keeping him just a wee bit sooner.
I have now finished another round of where’s the paperwork with the re-fi company. We’ll see where this goes next. My bold prediction: more paperwork!
