Thanks for the replies.if it was a more important procedure I might chance it, but maybe not for this.
Evening all. As mentioned, a lazy day, with a nice long hot bath followed by a nap and puzzle-solving occupying my afternoon, with BLT’s and a Banana for dinner. Readin’ and Internettin’ are the major items for the evening. It’s heading below freezing tonight and tomorrow promises freezing rain and possible snow. Oh joy.
Cupcakes, the sooner you make the decision, the better. Since it is early in the morning, they may open late if it gets as bad as they predict, but if you explain the reasoning, I don’t think they’ll hold it against you.
FCM, hope taking care of three dependents doesn’t wear you down too much.
Seanette, cats forgive…but they also forget. Make sure you check the seat before sitting…
Boo fae, safe flight.
flyboy, hoping that wife is home now or shortly. Probably having to concentrate on the driving instead of trying to call you.
Cookie, hope the thumb gets to feeling better. And I have ‘noisy’ knees, but no pain or lack of mobility yet, so hope we both can get by.
gotti, are you going to get tested, or just wait and see?
OK, back to doing what I do best…nothing much. All y’all take care.
Yep. She got home about half an hour ago. She doesn’t want to do that again. She did see cars off the road at the Lummi Reservation.
Dinner’s almost ready.
I hate that we’ve arrived at OG, but also this is hilarious.
CA? We used to spend time there.
Red Happy Birthday! I hope the job hunt is painless and over quickly.
BooFae safe travels home! I hope Las Vegas was kind to you.
Dear Og, you are not kidding. I’ve got weeks of it ahead of me. Whoever invented bureaucracy has a lot to answer for.
Shoe Hi!
Ugh. How are you doing now? Fingers crossed you’ve avoided the plague.
I feel this. My daughter just turned 18. I still see her as an 8 year old playing with her brother. I’m starting to see why people want grandchildren.
I’ve been watching that storm come in on radar. Impressive snow it’s leaving up there. I think we’ll eventually get a few bands of that storm. Stay safe and warm.
WetOne I’m glad your VP is being sensible.
FCM Congrats on springing FCD from the joint. I hope his recovery goes smoothly.
Today was laundry and a quick run to the pharmacy. I’m checking the inter-webs and will go back to my reading shortly.
Hugs to all.
Chikken!
I like chicken, but I think SWMBO got burned out on it a couple of years ago. So tonight I made BBQ chicken thighs and legs. It was much juicier and less greasy than the fried chicken I pick up from the hot deli and tasted ‘fresher’ than the wings I get at the supermarket or restaurant. We had some coleslaw leftover from when I heated BBQ pork last wee. CHIKKEN!
I have Hankerin’ for ground beef & broccoli, with garlic, salt, and mayo. Comfort food. But I know The Missus would not be down with that.
Up, caffeinated and sheveled. Off to heave.
Well most of the retired people I know work more than when they were employed. “Since you don’t have anything to do…” ![]()
But glad FCD is home
Happy belated Birthday FCDaughter!
Happy belated Birthday red!
God: “We’ll give them COVID!”
Angel: “They have it.”
God: “Well, from this moment forth, they have Double Secret COVID!”
< Gordie perks up >
Really belated - her b-day is in Sept… ![]()
First night home was… interesting. Shortly after getting into bed, he wanted to get out again and sit in his recliner. I don’t know for sure when he came back - maybe around 2 or 3? I woke a bit before 6, gave him his morning pain meds, then showered, dressed and started my morning. I’ll be leaving in about 20 minutes to fetch Toby, and then things will get interesting.
We forgot all about putting the ice pack in the freezer, so when FCD wanted ice on his knee, I grabbed the bag of hash browns. Which means we’re having N.O.T. pancakes for breakfast. I have Perkins’ recipe, which he loves, so that chore awaits when I get home. Plus I put 4 ice packs in the freezer - we should be good for today.
Snow forecast tonight into tomorrow - I’m hoping my daughter gets another snow day tomorrow. That will give me the weekend to settle my sweetie into his new routine. I’ve also got a big pile of laundry to tend to, and I should change the sheets on our bed this weekend. I just got up and I’m exhausted already!!
Happy Thursday! Send help!!!
Note to the wise: Do not get a COVID vaccination, or any other type, while still recovering from jetlag. Hubby woke up at 3 because his arm was causing him problems, and I woke up at 4:30, for similar reasons. He took a nap, I have not.
I think the third shot of Pfizer has caused some more side effects, probably related to the jetlag.
In addition, his stomach is a bit wonky (not uncommon for when he’s overly tired), so today’s lunch plans have gone out the window and I’m thawing pasta e fagioli for him and chicken risotto for me (so that there’s leftover pasta e fagioli for him). And there’s thawed chili in the fridge as well.
I guess I could have done the defrosting in the steam oven. Oh well.
Work is crazy. I believe there was already one blood sacrifice (or will be made soon), and there may be another following. I, as well as others, am doing the cleaning. Somebody else will take the shot(s).
It’s Thursday, right?
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 39 Amurrkin out and foggy, even though TWPTB say it’s clear, with a predicted high of < snerk > 69! < snerk > and maybe rain later this afternoon. Or not. TWPTB are willy-nilly about this. We shall have N.O.L. at Sonny’s as OYKW can get a free bday meal of any sammich, a side, and a drink. Any other need to feed will be via forage. Other than that, we shall be sloths as is our wont.
MOOOOOOM sounds like a very bzzzy day ahead. On the plus side you have a cute grandbabby to snuggle.
gotti here’s hopin’ you don’t have the plague.
Cookie hope the thumb is feelin’ better today.
CupCakes if the weather is all ick, I say stay home. I am sure the dentist will understand and I am pretty sure you would not be the only one to cancel/reschedule today.
BooFae I trust you are safe at home now.
Dicey jetleg and jab side effects sounds like no fun at all!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
They should only serve applejack, corn likker . and molasses rum …
Well since the last posting it rained for most of a week and once it did dry off I caught a cold or something pretty much like I caught covid last year via in laws with cousin and fam as the middle men and I think I’m finally getting over it …
So I’m glad for the things that worked out and poo to those that didn’t …
Afternoon all.
Did and posted a PCR test this morning to check the plague suspicions. Still feeling basically OK, but a bit overtired and phlegmy. Basically just like a normal cold. I can still taste normally, which is good, 'cos I got so much chocolate for Christmas this year that it would really suck to not be able to enjoy that.
I actually got to go outside to walk down to the post box to post the PCR test- all of a few hundred meters away. In the snow, unexpectedly, though it only lasted about 15 minutes before turning to rain.
I’m pretty much stuck in my room, as the one housemate who’s here is still testing negative (I haven’t actually seen her this year, so we’ve really not had much contact)- the other one who’s in the country went to the same NYE party, along with her boyfriend. They’re both confirmed cases, and are staying at his place. The only room we both have to use here is the kitchen, and frankly I usually avoid using it at the same time as her 'cos she’s the sort of person who will cheerfully declare that it’s OK that you’re still using the oven, she can ‘just work round you’ then reach over you to start using the other hob rings…
I probably shouldn’t say this, but if I had to catch this, the timing’s pretty good- as well as only having to work round one person not three, I’m not going to miss any classes because I don’t have any for weeks anyway and I have nothing else pressing to do except shopping, which I’m getting delivered this evening. I’ve actually had an unusually productive few days of coursework so far.
No-one’s got actually properly sick, so far as I can find out, but we were all fully vaxxed- most boostered as well, and no-one’s in a higher risk category that I know of.
Good morning everyone.
It’s very, very, very soggy outside and it appears that a good amount of the snow is gone. I still have some on the grass and in the cul-de-sac though.
I have read but barely retained because of too little sleep and not nearly enough caffeine. I am sending hugs, yays, boos, and big frozen salmon slaps where appropriate.
Another busy workday awaits with various problems to solve and various HR, property, leasing, and budget things to work on. I am sure new and interesting problems will crop today too.
Tomorrow will be the first Friday I’ve had to work since some time in October and it feels weird that I’ll have to work tomorrow. Ah well, next year around October I’ll be in the same boat, so it’ll be every Friday off then too. I’m lucky though, I still have every other Friday off.
Welp, I think I’m gonna get a third cup of strong black coffee 'cause I’m gonna need it today.
Morning all. Awoke to the rainwater dripping out of the gutters, it’s wet and cold and due to get a lot colder (predictions are 15F tonight), so how much of this is freezing rain depends on when the cold air gets here. Need to mail a bill, will do that shortly since I don’t trust the afternoon’s weather. Otherwise a good day to spend inside and glad I got the garage door sorted out yesterday.
Nut, hope you stay well.
Dicey, jet lag can mess up your system for a couple days (I was always pretty good flying east-to-west, but west-to-east messes me up). Hope the arm feels better.
OK, need to grab some quick breaking fast food and get out before it gets below freezing. All y’all have a good Thorsday.
*sigh* Looks like almost a foot of snow outside. At least I refuelled the Prius (which isn’t going anywhere) and remembered to put its wipers up so they don’t freeze to the windshield.
FCD is crashed. Toby is crashed. Second load of laundry is in the washer, first in the dryer. And I just finished a couple of small repairs on Roxy’s dress - a new acquisition from WalMart that had poorly stitched seams. It appears the machine or person sewing the dress didn’t line up the front to the back precisely so there were a couple of openings in the seam. No biggie - it was quicker for me to hand-stitch rather than dig out the sewing machine, set it up, fill a bobbin, blah blah blah. As a point of interest (to me, anyway) the thread I used was vintage. The price tag on it was 22¢. And for those of you who don’t buy thread, general purpose thread runs around $2 per spool, specialty threads much higher.
Anyway, the dress is mended and it should stay intact till she grows out of it. At the rate she’s growing, that will be next week. The kid is 3 and she’s wearing size 6T! She’s taller than many 5-y/o! Roxy is going to be an Amazon!!!
Her baby bro seems to be in a growth spurt also - eating like a little piggy! He’s outgrown his newborn onesies and he’s comfortably in 0-3 month size. Which is the correct age range. Next week, he’ll be 2 months old. Today when I put him on his back, he rolled to his side. I’m trying to recall when Roxy became mobile - I know she was walking before she was 1. This one is wearing me out already!!!

BTW, the Perkins pancakes were yum, and there’s batter left over for more.
And it’s time to check on the munchkin again…
Well, I exaggerated. It’s only 6.5 inches of snow. Maybe I should call it 16.5 cm so it sounds deeper. But it was a warmer storm than last time, so it’s heavier.
Still snowing HARD over here. Now that I had that falling out with my neighbor, who used to be nice until I found out why, I think I’ll have to put on pants and go shovel.
My manager sent me out in the blizzard yesterday for a bullshit delivery. I freaked out about the roads and told her to clock me out. She got pissed off back at me & took me off the schedule for the week.
Now we’re in this weird power struggle when we used to be friendly.
I’m not good at standing up for myself, but at least I’m slowly learning when I should.
Things are not great in my head today. Thanks for being a safe place for me. Imma go shovel snow now.
I missed it.
Yesterday the daughter of one of Wifey, RN’s patients out by the Lummi Reservation told her the roads were clear and she was having no trouble getting around. What she didn’t say (or possibly know) was that the roads getting to there were shite. And apparently the daughter doesn’t live in quite the same place as her mom. Wifey, RN had a nerve-wracking time getting there. She said she’s not going out today, and will have to reschedule patients again.
Greetings from the frigid and snowy mid-south!
Went to irk this AM and they dismissed us at 0800. It took 40 minutes to brush off the car and get out of the parking lot / business park lane to the main drag and another 50 minutes to drive the 7 miles home. I got a bit worried on the overpass for US70S / US41 because it was treacherous. Now, I’m working on a pot of tea and watching trash TV.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I guess I got confused by your FB reminiscence.
Feel better, Nut!
hope the jetlag and booster lag pass quick, Dicey. I need to get my booster.
