New Year snow in the MMP

Howdy all. I’ve been busy at work this week, only gonna get busier over the next 3 months or so. I’m going from not enough work to too much, I might even need to hire someone. Yuck.

Tis a rousing 20 and stoopid windy outside, heading for 10 later tonight. Double yuck.

On the good news side, my covid test from monday turned up negative, so that’s nice.

Read much, retained little, so hugs, boos, etc as needed.

Stay safe, y’all.

Peace reigns in the household. Chinese food being delivered for supper. We got FCD’s email straightened out - I missed paying for his domain (again) and he lost a week of email. But it’s good now.

It’s cold, gonna be cold tomorrow. I’ve had enough winter, thanks.

After two consecutive 3-day workweeks, this was officially the longest week evar. Plus, one of my employees was out sick all week. TGI freaking F. (Five-day workweeks are soooo 2021… )

I only got 1-2" of snow overnight and it barely stuck to the roads/sidewalks, so there was nothing to shovel. My favorite kind of snow! And there was effective sunshine for most of the day, so paved surfaces are already back to how they were yesterday. I have nowhere to be until Monday morning, but I like knowing that I could go somewhere if I want/need to. It is COLD out there, though, with some nasty windchill. It’s supposed to stay below freezing through tomorrow, too, before we get into the low 40s on Sunday. I prefer temperatures that are least as high as my age, but right now I’ll take anything above freezing!

It is finally time to relocate the dog and myself from the home office to the living room. After a brief foray into the kitchen (for pepper jack chaffles), we shall get cozy on the couch and figure out tonight’s entertainment. Likely some episodes of Castle, but maybe also a movie. I would make a joke about being boring or old, but whatever.

{{{overlyverbose and family}}} :blue_heart:

Yeah, that’s a side effect of my iron supplement, too. I have come to really love Dulcolax chews.

I’ve used two local stores for grocery delivery, and I had to stop using one of them because of the frequent unauthorized substitutions – often with products I can’t/won’t use. I have carefully selected the “no substitutions” option more than once (and double-checked it), but they seem to do whatever they want. So, no more orders from them.

Booooooo. :frowning:

You and I live just close enough to each other to usually have similar weather…which means some kind of Mumperfest (maybe a mini one?) might be in order once all of this winter and COVID crap goes away.

Most definitely!

Still waiting on dinner delivery - I’m about to make a phone call. These guys are usually early, but for the first time, they’re running late. I’ll give them a few more minutes, but we’s hongreee!!!

Evening (or I guess late afternoon) all. Pretty much another do-nothing day, bathed and napped and worked on puzzles for the afternoon, tomorrow is indoor soccer and I’ll be busy with that. Rain is forecast for Sunday, but at least the temperatures will get back to the 50’s (it 22F outside at the moment).

{{{{wordy and wordy-Mom. Not much else to say, just more {{{ }}}

FCM, enjoy dinner, whenever it arrives. And happy B-day to your Mom; she still travelling?

Sunny, hope you and Beamer recover quickly.

nellie, hope sis’s pain goes down. Can’t help out, still have both knees intact (but I think it’s a matter of time).

Butters, sorry to hear about the neighbors; hope it doesn’t get any worse. And good wishes on the ankle.

And to everyone else, yeas, boos, hugs and general positive waves to everyone.

Apparently there was some flooding along the beach. Looks like about 3 or 4 miles south of here, going out toward the State park. Big waves smashing!

Facebook link.

Bellingham Herald link (less impressive video, IMO).

Howdy Y’all! Stuff got done, nappage was achieved, and pizza and sallit got et. That sums up the day here. Oh, forgot one thing, we got haircuts. Live it up, we do!

{{{Wordy}}} so sorry about your mom’s cancer returnin’. Make the most of the time you have, and, if she wants a glass of wine she should have one. Or two. Now is the time to enjoy.

{{{Sunny}}} hope Beamer and you feel better soonest.

Nellie glad you’re sis’s surgery went well. May she have a speedy recovery and be in less pain.

Butters yay for potential quick house sale! Hope the ankle is better soonest.

From me too. I will be holding you and your mom in the light :candle::candle::candle:. Come back often for {{{ refills }}}.

@Sunny_Daze, {{{ for the kiddo too }}}. Hard weather to be feeling poorly in.

@nelliebly, no secrets but not doing the exercises because they hurt too much leads to them hurting too much. It’s a tricky, ugly cycle. Can she try calling the doc and ask for a different pain med? I’ve never been that impressed with Percocet and some people just don’t seem to get much relief from it. Maybe tramadol, for a limited course?

Also ask for alternating Tylenol doses with the pain med doses to maximize coverage. Get specifics for the higher doses because both ibuprofen and acetaminophen can be taken in higher doses then on the OTC packages listing. Big Tylenol dose, then halfway through its 6 hour span, a big dose of ibuprofen or naproxen, then halfway through that dose, a big dose of the first med. if this makes any sense. A pharmacist could also help with the dosing and scheduling. Hope you can find something that helps her. It’s not your imagination, Percocet can be hit or miss. She needs relief so everything doesn’t get harder. Call the surgeon and check with a pharmacist. In this day and age you are going to have to be persistent because the opioid crisis has doctors afraid to do anything~sucks if you’re a person in pain who isn’t a drug abuser. Don’t ask me how I know but persistence is what worked.

{{{wordy and mama}}} May you cherish the time that you have left together.

Yay on the offer butters!

Glad your sister’s surgery went well nellie. I hope that her pain subsides soon.

Take care of yourself sunny.

Lazed today after cleaning up the apartment and doing laundry. I made a batch of oatmeal raisin muffins to warm the place up (they are good). Since it’s still cold out, I actually cooked supper tonight (a quick soup with some frozen veggies, a couple of TBSP of brown rice that needed used and some ham pieces from the freezer. Not bad.

Tomorrow, it should be warmer (it’s now a balmy 21F) so I’ll go get groceries. I’m looking forward to the melting of the snow.

I did not know it was possible to exit Costco for under $10, but I did it. Four-pack of a ham and cheese croissant pastry (pretty good, IMO) and a bunch of bananas.

I’ve historically been impressed if I can get out of there for less than $100.

$98-something today. Six bottles of Kirkland Cabernet Sauvignon, two bags of chicharrones, mixed nuts, and a tub-o-tentacles (and other sea creatures).

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. No snow in the forcast, but it is 28 degrees(Amurikun) right now.

It’s a brisk 18° hereabouts, and it may get colder before the sun rises. I’m going to mosey out to the shop a bit later and fire up the pellet stove in there. I’ll leave a low feed rate so maybe it’ll burn for a couple of days and keep the electric heater from coming on. We’ve had it set at its lowest (50°) and I dread the electric bill for this month.

She and my sister were supposed to leave today on a short cruise, but they canceled when Omicron started to surge around here. She’s really antsy to go somewhere, but not at the risk of her health. I’m not sure if she’s got anything on her schedule at the moment.

This cracked me up!!!

BBBoo - I’m going to apply your pain meds recommendation with FCD - he’s really hurting, even with tramadol and hydrocodone. We’ve got acetaminophen as well as a big jug o’ibubrofen - he was taking them before and they helped. He may rattle when he walks, but if it stops the owies… Thanks!

Apart from pelleting the shop, I’m going to make a run to Food Lion for Diet Cokes (daughter said they got in a supply) and I’m going to run the carpet cleaner in here. With the pellet stove going in the house, it’s really dry, so the carpet should dry fast. Theoretically. I may change our sheets also, or that’ll wait till tomorrow. And it’s critter fountain cleaning day. Lots of stuff to amuse me.

Happy Saturday!!

Morning, mumpers! It’s a grey, wet and dreary day here but that’s ok because I am not leaving the house. We got home yesterday lunchtime, unpacked, had a restorative cup of tea and then went to fetch the feline overlords from cat holiday camp. They have not yet decided whether they want to sulk, or have fusses and lap time.

After that little trip (cattery is on a farm so the drive from the main road up to the kennels area is lumpy, bumpy and full of potholes, puddles and mud), I went to get groceries since the fridge was emptier than an empty thing on a really empty day. Now we have supplies, and all’s well again.

Since we travelled before Bojo the Custard Binbag changed the rules again, we have to do a PCR test within 48hrs of returning to the UK. We decided that since we’d tested regularly during our trip, and done LFTs before flying home, we would do the PCR tests this morning so they are sent off within the 48hr period. That means we have to isolate at home until we get the results, which should be within 24-48hrs so I am planning to work from home on Monday and then see whether I am able to go back to campus on Tuesday. Thus endeth my tale of woe.

{{{{{Wordy and MamaWordy}}}}} so sorry to hear the diagnosis, it’s brutal when you have to face that kind of fact. Been there, done that. Spend as much time together as you can, do all the things you wanted to do but have put off, and definitely have that glass of wine. Now is the time for making the most of things, no doubt about that.

Sunny and Beamer sorry to hear you have the ick as well. Take care of yourselves!

nellie glad to hear your sister’s surgery went well, and also glad that Nurse BBBoo has all the good advice for you.

butters congrats on the offers, let’s hope it’s smooth sailing for you.

Off for some paracetamol for my own ick now, I’ve had snuffles for 10 days now and I’m bored with it!

This makes me laugh more than it should!!

I guess it’s about time to shower, dress, and run to Food Lion before it gets crazy busy. At least I’m well-rested. I crashed before 9 last night and woke after 5 - better than 8 hours! I haven’t had that good a sleep in eons!

All righty, then. Quit distracting me!!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 33 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 65 and N.O.S. for the day. Not a whole lot on the agenda today. Big surprise, I know! I shall make a batch of chili in the slow cooker and we shall have that and corn bread for sup. Fartfest to follow. I also took a smallish Boston < snerk > BUTT! < snerk > outta da freezer last night. It’s already cooked as it’s one I smoked a couple of months ago. I shall put that into a slow cooker as well and take it to the church house tomorrow for First Sunday brunch that got moved to second Sunday this month, because we like chaos.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Good morning!

Up and caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. The only things on the agenda today are getting groceries and finishing a project in the studio.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. Leave for indoor soccer in about an hour, am trying to work out substitution schedules for the kids (indoors has substitutions ‘on the fly’ like hockey and is played 4 v 4 + a goalie, so getting kids equal time playing can be a challenge…). That and learning 22 player names today is my main goal.

Still below freezing outside (29F) but due to get to 52F according to the Weather Wizards. We’ll see. Sunday is rain, rain, rain.

Boo fae, hope the tests come back negative and that you can come up with even more creative names for your Fearless Leader…

OK, need some sustenance if I’m going to spend 6 hours with a mob of 6-11 year-olds. All y’all take care.

I’m back from Food Lion and I have a proper stash of Diet Coke that should last till the next time they have a sale. It was interesting to see that there were no frozen potato products, no fresh chicken, no eggs, and only whole and 2% milk available. Dunno if it’s weird hoarding or what. I also drove thru the credit union ATM lane since my cash was literally down to pocket change. I do most things with plastic, but I like to have a little green in my wallet.

Another, well, not weird, but different observation - I saw 10-15 Amish buggies all heading south on Rt 5. My first thought was funeral, or maybe a wedding, or frosty orgy?? It’s not unusual to see that many buggies on Sunday mornings, but on Saturday? I’m nosy - I’d love to know what the deal is.

I finally got the pellet stove up and running in the shop. Something screwed up there - the thermostats were set at 67°!!! That explains the stoopit high electric bill. I reset them all to hold at 50° for 45 days. We’ll see if it works. And while I was waiting for the pellets to ignite, I heard a hissing - there’s a leak in the air line in the center of the shop. I threw the breaker to the compressor - no sense in running it for no reason. We’ll figure out the problem when it warms up out there. Always something.

FCD is snoozing. I need to clean the critter fountain, and then run the carpet cleaner in this room. Then, who knows…
