Official "Lost" Questions Thread

How about:
How many groups have crashed here, anyway? Seems like everyone and their dog has crashed on this little lump of sand at one time or another.

For what it’s worth, the closed captioning said “There were no survivors of 815.”

Locke said that normal clothing degenerates after about two years, but that a synthetic blend like that worn by the “priest” could last about ten or fifteen years, so it looks like the Nigerians are a seperate group.

A good question, but one I despair of ever getting a straight answer to.

Someone in the main thread wondered what Nigerian drig smugglers were doing way over here in the Pacific. I’m afraid my grasp of geography is pretty shaky, so I don’t know how valid a question this is.

So how about …

What happened to Jack’s marriage?

And possibly something about the Boone/baby reincarnation theory? Maybe that’s too “out there”, but it is Lost, after all.

Yup.

  1. What happened to Jack’s marriage?

I am NOT going to get into the Reincarnation theory. At least not until I have something to support it. Baseless speculation goes in … um … that thread over there. The green one.

I know, I know, I just want him back. Kill someone not as easy on the eyes.

Good episode. As far as I can tell, two more answers, no new questions:

  1. Who conked Sayid on the head?
ANSWER: If you said “Locke”, you were correct.

  2. Is Nadia dead or alive?
ANSWER: I see no reason not to believe the CIA lady. Nadia is alive and living in California.

Not sure I agree with you on this one. (The second part anyway.)

Yes, the CIA lady told Sayid where Nadia was living and I see no reason to disbelieve her either. But, way back when Rousseau had Sayid prisoner, he tell her that Nadia is dead “because of me”. He seems pretty sure of that statement.

Sayid had the Australian agent change his ticket to the next day’s flight, so 26 hours elapse between the time the CIA lady tells Sayid of Nadia’s location and the time he boards the plane. It is possible that he learns something in that 26 hours that changes her status. (The other members of the terror cell he was interacting with may have her killed in retaliation against him, for example.) But, I don’t think we can conclusively rule this one answered yet.

Good point! I had forgotten about that.

OK, #38 is back up for grabs. Pay no attention to me.

Maybe an edit. Change the old question to Did she get out of Iraq alive? And then add a new one, Is she still alive?

I think she definitely got out of Iraq, if only because of the clothes she was wearing in CIA Lady’s picture.

Nah, I’d rather not include a question when we already know the answer. Really, we’re just back where we were at the end of “Solitary”. Sayid has said that Nadia is dead, but we don’t know why. Best to just leave #38 as it is.

I have completely failed to update things here after last weeks episode. Let’s see if we can get caught up before part one of the season finale.

  1. Who is the man that Kate loved and/or killed?
[ANSWER:] An old flame by the name of Tom.

I’m pretty sure of that one based on the discussions in the main thread. We also got two new questions about Kate’s past:

  1. Who sent kate the letter about her mom?

and

  1. Why did Kate’s mom freak out at the hospital.

Just a thought on Sayid.

If he had received word that Nadia was dead in those 26 hours between his conversation with the CIA lady and the flight, why would he have even bothered taking the flight.

The only reason he was going to LA was to see Nadia. If he knew she was dead, would he have still gone?

I guess it’s possible. Maybe he wanted a new start, maybe he wanted to go to the funeral. Maybe he figured it was the best place to meet someone new.

Plenty if information from last night’s episode. Let’s see what we got.

  1. What was the nature of her relationship with the Federal Marshal? Was it more complicated than it seems?
Answer: Not exactly complicated, but it had developed to the point where the Marshall was taking the hunt kind of personally. He at least believed that Kate was taunting him.

  2. What is Sawyer’s real name?
Answer: James Ford (did I hear that right?)

  3. Who exactly is Alex?
Answer: Danielle’s daughter, taken by the Others.

  4. What is the significance of Kate’s toy plane? (Does Kate even know herself?)
Answer: Right now I’m inclined to believe the Marshall. The plane has personal significance to Kate beyond mere sentiment. After causing Tom’s death it has become something of a retribution talismen to her. This is not to say that there isn’t some other significance as well.

  5. Why was Sawyer getting arrested in Sydney?
Answer: Bar fight. He head-butted an Australian minister.

  6. What happened to Jack’s marriage?
Partial Answer: We at least know that he went through with it, but is no longer married.

Also More information on:

  1. What is the Black Rock mentioned in the French Transmission and presumably marked on Danielle’s map?
Answer: In addition to being the sight of the transmission, it is not actually a rock. It’s an old time ship.

Finally, yes Danielle has identified the big monster as a security system. But I’m going to need more info before I consider #4 answered. What kind of security system is it? Giant robot? Brainwashed dinosour? Pissed off giraffe?

That seems to be the general concensus. It’s also what is listed in TV Tome.

So I think it’s good enough for now.

It’s weird. I noticed in the main thread that other people had trouble hearing it too. I thought it was just my problem because Mrs. Trion was talking.

Perhaps a question about the significance of the black smoke?

I’m sticking with my original theory, that the Others are trying to elect a new Pope. Eventually they will decide on Claire’s baby and come to get him.

Pope Turniphead I

OK, nevermind.

Good question. For purposes of this thread, I’m considering all new questions to be provisional until we see all of “Exodus” (both parts). But I’m guessing you’ll get that one on the list.
