Official "Lost" Questions Thread

Wooooo! I may make the list! I’m very proud.

Anyhow, I’ve been thinking about it all afternoon, and the only thing I can’t remember is what the loan officer at the bank called her. I don’t recall the marshal ever using her name, and if anyone knew her real name, it was probably him.

Must have missed that line.

I just checked “Whatever the Case May Be,” and the bank officer refers to Kate only as “Miss Ryan,” which gives us nothing.

Surely the Marshall checked her on the plane under her real name. Her name was accounted for on the manifest.

Unless that, too, is an alias.

Wed, 8:oo Central, immediately following LOST

Aw, damn. You’re right.

We learned a litttle more about Walt’s ‘luck,’ if that’s still what we’re calling it. Not enough to answer the Q, tho.

It does seem likely that the Marshall would know Kate’s real name. Unless there’s something weird going on there (see question 11) - or it was another alias or any number of other possibilities all of which are pure speculation at this point. Sorry, Draelin.

Regarding last night’s episode:

  1. Why was Michael so estranged from Walt for so long. Is it related to Walt and his mother moving around so much?
ANSWER: Walt’s mom convinced Michael to let her new husband adopt Walt and basically did whatever she could to cut Michael out of Walt’s life. The new dad, David, had a big law firm job that moved him around a lot.

I don’t see any real mystery questions raised by last night’s episode. I think I’ll avoid cliffhanger questions like “Is Claire still pregnant?” We will presumably find that out as soon as the show starts up again.

However, I think I need to break question 9 in two:

  1. What’s the deal with the black and white rocks that were found with Adam and Eve?

and

  1. What is the Black Rock mentioned in the French Transmission and presumably marked on Danielle’s map?

ANything else??

I guess #47 still encompasses most of the questions raised last night.

A few possible submissions:

  • How was Claire able to dream of the black rock? (too broad, maybe?)

  • Did Walt have anything to do with his mother’s death? (again, a stretch perhaps)

Oh, and I think perhaps #47 now needs to be reworded. Calling it “luck” no longer seems enough. Perhaps “abilities”?

I rewatched that episode a few days ago, and I really don’t think the airplane is what’s in the envelope in the bank vault. That envelope looked nice and flat - the envelope with the airplane bulged. I think “What was in the envelope?” and “How does the envelope in the vault connect with the airplane?” are both potential questions.

I think that what Kate found in the envelope could have led to the death of the Man She Loved (wish we knew who that was), which would connect it to the airplane, but that’s just speculation. But I really don’t think the plane was in the vault.

Wasn’t the stepfather’s name Brian?

Yea, a little too broad and speculative here. Plus I think Claire’s dreams are more dramatic license rather than an actual mystery.

True. How about:

  1. What is the nature of Walt’s “special abilities”?

See how I worked the name of the episode into the question like that? Very subtle.

Either way we have a toy airplane that we need to learn the significance of. There may very well be a difference between what was in the vault and what was in the case, but I think I’ll wait for a little more clarity on that one.

Oops. Right you are. I’ll fix that. Thanks.

Looks pretty good. I hope we subtract a few tonight (especially regarding Ethan, Claire and the Baby!)

But I am sure we’ll add more!

Need new ep thread, someone.

I’d go ahead and do it myself, but I figure someone else might like having a +10 page thread of their ownsies.

Another fairly straightforward backstory for Charlie. Nice.

A couple of questions raised:

  1. Why does Claire have amnesia?

  2. How did Claire escape from Ethan?

What about Ethan coming from the water? Is that mysterious, or did he just swim over and walk in?

Perhaps a question about whether Jin suspects Sun of speaking English?

Well, Ethan did seem weirdly strong at time. But noting beyond human capacity, so I’m inclined to leave it be.

Ah, but does she know that he suspects that she speaks english? And does he suspect that she knows that he … oh nevermind.

Anyway, discussion in the main thread indicates that there are a few ways you could take that conversation. For myself, I agree with you. I think Jin is beginning to suspect and was testing Sun. I also think that Jin kind of hopes that she does so he could know what’s going on and interact more. Seemed to me to be hints of that in the episode. Of course, he won’t be happy to find out why she speaks English.

But I digress. More of a continuing character interaction than an unanswered question IMHO.

Okay, I can understand Sawyer (criminal), Kate (army brat), Locke (survivalist), and Sayid (ex-military) knowing how to use a gun. Why the heck do Jack and Charlie know how to use them?

Not a longterm-issue kind of question, but do we think Jack collected the weapons at the end of the night?
