Neat! Thanks for the info.
I walked 8.7 miles, so not bad. I did some cloud-watching as I strolleed along and also admired the many flowering trees and shrubs. I walked to the falls and back. Old Flame had asked if the falls looked like they were depicted on hte old Oly beer cans, so I snapped a few photos for him.
This is what worries me. The Holy See was disgruntled because Francis was more conservative before he became pope. I recall reading that when Francis went into the Room of Tears, something happened that changed him. (Not suggesting woo here, just that he had some sort of epiphany.) I doubt we’ll get that lucky a second time.
If you haven’t already done so, I can recommend The Two Popes (Netflix). I’ve never been a Benedict fan, but the docudrama at least helped me understand him better.
Nah, should be easy. It’s an injector, like an epi-pen. I was trained in how to use epi-pens when I was teaching, and I periodically review the procedure because I now have to carry an epi-pen since the Xolair could potentially cause anaphylaxis.
I plan to wend the staff at the infusion center a thank you card and maybe some candy.
red That’s awesome! An extra $18k is wonderful news.
There was a snapping turtle at one of the summer camps I went to. The thing was huge, little kid memories, so grain of salt, but I swear it was 3 feet nose to tail. I saw it snap a 1x4 chunk of wood with no problem. The minders would pick it up, one hand on shell behind the head and one hand on the back end of the shell. Scared the bejeebus out of me.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/50f with a predicted high of 14c/58f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Some people are like fucking clouds. Once they fuck off, it’s a beautiful day.” Yes, I think we all probably know someone like that.
Thank you She’s very much one step forward and three steps back at the moment. Today she actually sat up and looked at me across the room, which she hasn’t done before. We had a brief conversation that didn’t involve growling and hissing, but she’s still not moved out of her corner.
At least gift cards don’t take up much houseroom and you can use it next time to treat yourself!
I hope it works out for you, I can’t think of anything I’d hate more than having to call people and try to sell them stuff…but that’s just me.
What a nice surprise to get in the mail, especially if it allows you to start thinking about retirement again.
Sounds like a very nice walk, and it was good of Mother Nature to put on a show for you.
Yesterday was a good day. I went to the gym, did some laundry, spent some time on the sofa with a book and then made a roast dinner in the evening. I also emptied the rubbish and hauled the biiiig bin out to the kerb for today’s collection.
It’s now 10am and the dustcart has just gone up the road and I can go out to haul the biiiig bin back to where it lives. I’ve had breakfast and two cups of tea so it must be time for the next one. The cats have been fed, the litter trays are clean, and Muffin allowed me to fuss her for a few seconds before she hissed at me.
Today’s plans involve grocery shopping and a trip to the local tip as we have stuff to get rid of that can’t be dealt with by the usual collection. 'im indoors is making dinner tonight so no idea what we’re having yet.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 62 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 82 and partly to mostly cloudy. It’s laundry day. Rejoice and be glad! Other than that we shall be our usual RDOS selves. Both of us brought home half of our steak last night. Thus the executive decision was made to have sliced steak over sallit and cheesey garlic bread for sup. Easy and nummy, so win-win.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
According to this, it could have been that big, but I suspect your kid eyes were in need of calibration. There’s one in a tank in the museum that might be 2’ tip-to-tip but it’s hard to tell because the times I’ve seen him (assumption regarding sex) he’s been partly hidden by rocks. But he’s definitely not your backyard box turtle size.
Me, too. Eons ago when I was out of work, I considered a couple of sales jobs and quickly realized that I’d suck at it. I wouldn’t even want to do retail sales, tho that’s more to do with dealing with customers. Frankly, if I had to find a job quickly today, I’d consider hotel housekeeping before retail or food service. (And we all know how much I love housework…)
Much as I’d love to get some yardwork done, my back is still acting out for some stoopit reason. So I’ll head back to the basement and have another go at my sewing, after I tidy a bit down there. At the moment, I just finished breakfast and I’m caffeinating while the ice machine makes ice. FCD is still abed, but he was up till nearly 1 and it’s just past 7, so he needs some more beauty sleep.
I guess we’ll figure out the day as we go along.
Happy Tuesday!!
I am currently completely overwhelmed by some tax nonsense related to my art stuff. I am waiting for the Ohio tax people to call me back. It was a 28 minute wait.
In the meantime, here is a picture that Coppertone has asked me to post for her.
Thanks. Someday they’ll probably make food that plays music when you eat it. Where does it end?
Your memories may not be that far off. There were always snapping turtles around the lakes in northern Indiana where I grew up and some of them did get to be a couple of feet or more head to tail.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and ready, more or less, to start the day. Nothing exciting shaking today.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. No plans for today, apart from watching hockey. And shoveling Spot’s litter box.
Ohio has a fork tax?
Progress. Spot only gets overstimulated and bite-y 30% I give attention these days.
Morning all. Slept well and then the internet led me to a ‘squirrel’ moment that became several hours, so I am late reporting in. Was raining last night and is still raining now, so it’s a good bet that soccer will be cancelled today. I do have to get dressed and go to the Verizon store, I cracked the protective shield on my phone, the phone is working fine but best keep it protected from my fumble fingers. Outside of that nothing much but sloth and some gym time is on the agenda for today. Might even be motivated to do some house-irk…or maybe not.
flyboy, good wishes with the training.
red, any day you find a surprise 18 grand in your mailbox is a good day indeed! Hope the treatment helps.
nellie, your walking prowess never fails to amaze me. Even with all my treadmill time that much outdoor walking would lay me out.
They need directions?
“Get back!! I have a snapping turtle and am not afraid to use it!”
swampy, it’s dishwasher day for me, laundry will probably happen next week once I finally run out of something.
Never held a sales job per se, I was in the business of doing the work to make the sale legal and see that things happened, but the companies were in the business of talking the foreign governments into buying their stuff. Suspect I would not be good at it.
FCM, listen to your back, it won’t lie to you.
Sticky Buns, good luck with the tax stuff. And thanks for the picture but…definitely a hard pass from me.
Ask and ye shall receive…TastySounds - Music Lollipop 4 Flavor-Mix (Buy 4 Get 1 Free) – Amos Sweets
And looks like I’m off in the rain to Verizon, give the new umbrella a tryout. Have a good 2sDay all.
I’ve had a bit of a sore throat for a couple of days that I was hoping was just fatigue. Yesterday I tried to skip rehearsal, but the director talked me into going so I could coach the chorus on French (I don’t really speak French, but I pronounce it well). By the end of rehearsal I was completely stuffed up.
This morning I woke with no voice. A lot better now, but I still cancelled my lessons for the day, since I don’t want to pass things on to my students. Complicates my life a little some I have to do makeups, but at least my schedule lightens up next week.
Hopefully this is relatively transient so I don’t have to miss anything else this week.
You mean like beans???
Back from Aldi, coming out just shy of $80! Lots of fruits and veggies in my bags. So now I’m having lunch, and we’ll see what I decide to do next. Tidy the basement. no doubt.
Argh, I need to make a phone call and I’m bad at phone calls.
And I’d like to work on my music arrangement today.
Watching the snow fall.
(Yes, I stand by my statement that it’s spring. Around here, we get gentle spring snowfalls from time to time. Soothing to watch.)
Yeah, I’m not really a salesman. But at least it’s business-to-business instead of retail cold calls.
Speaking of work, I sent a reminder to one of our members to send data. It bounced back. I waited until a reasonable hour and tried to call. Out of service. I called the company HQ, but they don’t open until 11:00. So I thought I’d google her to see if she’s still with the company. I found her obituary.
Get out of my head!
That’s unexpected. Had you been doing business with her for quite some time?
Due to workload, we went for the train that should have got us home 30 minutes later. It didn’t go where we wanted to go, and we had to take the bus, and got home another 20 minutes later than that. There seems to be some intermittent damage - or at least they keep closing the track intermittently.
Had some ricotta filling leftover, and a bell pepper, so I halved the bell pepper and baked it until fragrant. Now I put the filling in it and baking it again. That’s dinner sorted. Just a bit later than usual as it’s already past 8pm.
Looks like the company has been a member since 2016. I’ve been handling their data since 2017. Looks like she replaced my previous contact in 2021.
In an amazing feat of internet manipulation, keen insight and a steady hand, I was able to renew both of our passports online this morning, including uploading acceptable photos. I mean, we both look like convicted criminals in the pics, but at least they were acceptable to the electronic overlords in the bowels of Washington. And it did take three or four tries to get the pics right. So here’s a (probably) stupid question. Why won’t these sorts of sites accept the same email address for two people? This seems to be a dealbreaker for some reason. Is it a privacy thing? Anyway, deed done.
I finally convinced the wife to throw out the gigantic poinsettia that we’ve had in the living room since before xmas. It’s shed most of its leaves now and is looking pretty sad. Off with its head!
Breakfast burritos this morning for a change. Added some cheese, bacon, chili spices and cilantro to the mix.
Time for a walk, methinks.
FCD has declared Zatarain’s red beans and rice to be really good, especially when prepared with ground sausage. I got him 4 meals-worth from one batch, including added green peppers and chopped onions. I was going to find a DIY recipe, but since he likes this one, I count that as a win.
So his supper is ready (with some warming up) and I can figure out what I want - probably a tuna steak, because YUM!! I’ve decided that’s enough productivity for one day. RDOS mode - engage!
