(Old) For Whom The Bin Tolls- A Trashy Vacation MMP

Where did I put that newspaper now?

Been up for several hours, showered, breakfasted and still caffeinating. Not a lot more shakin’ here today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Have done absolutely nothing of consequence except eat lunch and pee twice. So I will rouse myself sufficiently to get dressed, pack my gym bag and head out for the afternoon swim/gym/whirlpool/sauna/weightlifting time.

 Actually, it’s just the comforter is so darn big and hard to move around with. the weights are at least fairly compact… And yeah, they owe you a response. I had a guy interested in fixing my tile, said he would contact me early this week to set a time…crickets so far. May drop him a message.

FCM, after a whole week of no problems, it may be my leak is back, need to collect some more data before having the leak detectors come back out. And I’m planning to take the train from Southampton to London and then transfer to the Gatwick Express to Heathrow…might be a bit pricey but surest way I know.

wet one, hope with time the brace becomes easier to handle. And are there people who bathe horses you can hire?

And that’s the Noon report. Of I go to burn off some calories.

Much better today. Some residual sniffliness, but my voice is mostly back (still going to take it easy). A couple of lessons at home, and then possibly a trek to school for a performance class. Haven’t decided on that yet.

Need to get out and do some gardening. I’m not a gardener.

If you have houseplants, and you worry about them getting watered when you’re on vacation, here’s an old gardeners’ trick I got from my FIL, who was an old gardener. Get a piece of small-diameter woven cord. Jam one end up into the bottom of the pot. Then get a lidded plastic tub, like they sell margarine in, cut a little hole in the lid, and thread the other end of the cord through that hole. Fill the tub with water, and snap the lid back on. Presto, automatic watering, good for 2 or 3 weeks of inattention. My FIL grew African violets, which he said were cranky about going dry.

He called that kind of cord “curtain pull cord.” If you buy curtains or blinds nowadays, they’re moved some other way, due to fears of strangling children and pets. The children and pets have to find other ways to die.

Be well, be safe, and be You!

Its 74! I took the plastic off my window and I have 2 weeks to enjoy a sunny view. I get afternoon sun.
After 2 weeks, the tree will fully leaf and block all sun. I want to neutralize it but cannot afford products that would do so.
As if thats not depressing, my toe had been cramping up and it hurt when I walked.
Not all the time.
So today I decide to examine it.
Yeah, second toe on the right foot is bent over and hard.
Apparently hammertoe.
Any job I get will involve standing. Sigh.
I do have an interview tomorrow in an adjacent city.
That will happen after the podiatrist visit.

A busy day for us. Exercise after breakfast, then the wife had to go to the dentist for cleaning, then to the store for a few essentials that STILL came to $100. Navigating the main street businesses in this part of town is a real challenge, as they’ve got everything torn up to replace utilities and install bike lanes. In the course of doing this, many small businesses are going to collapse, which is not good for the 'hood in many ways. We’ve had jackhammers going all day outside our building. Then, once the bike lanes are installed, there won’t be any parking on the street, which will further discourage business.

Metal mouse Ariel is very good about getting a bath. The Barn staff would charge me for bathing her probably at least $25. So I will round up a friend to assist. Went to the gym today for the first time in several weeks obviously not able to do upper body although I did a few bicep curls with my right arm. It felt good to get back.

Howdy Y’all! We procured and stowed provisions and then went to the hog trough GC. Then we accomplished nappage. We shall day drink shortly. Have I mentioned lately how much I love bein’ a RDOS?

Supper will be a rather yummy chicken-n-veggie teriyaki from one of my diabetic cookbooks. I’ve made this before but this time I added 'shrooms and green beans. It will be yum! And served over brown rice.

Then I need to get back to the bike - I’ve slacked off since vacation and I need to get back at it. Then another episode of Vera will round off the evening. Good times!

I would be happy to volunteer to give a cooperative horse a bath, that sounds like it could be a whole lot of fun!

This morning we went the the plant nursery in Logan and thought we would take the back way home. He missed a turn and we ended up on the wrong side of the tracks and were getting ready to head off exploring when I suddenly remembered that I am NOT a RDOS currently and had to go to work. Daaaannng!

Work was nice enough, Beth and I were sitting at the counter stitching when a lady saw us from the outside and came in because she wanted to talk about thread. The store has a large display area that is only half filled, I’m going to ask BL if we could put a couple of tables there for crafty folks to come in use. So far, every person who has come in to talk hobbies has always spent money so it could be a win-win for everyone.

It always makes me sad when the small local businesses get chased out of town. I hope enough hang strong to keep downtown alive.

One of our cats tried to hang herself on the blind cord back in the day. She would have succedded if we hadn’t been home. I became diligent about tying the pull cords up, so one of our cats tried and almost succeeded in hanging herself between the slats and the cording holding them together.

Then we gave up and started buying horizontal blinds instead.

I’m glad you are feeling better. I know this is an important week, but try to not do too much until you are fully recovered.

Of course I had to look it up, they seem like something that would be helpful for a lot of people.

Not really, its because Mom has too much stuff and is trying to downsize. That means I can’t send her stuff for birthdays and all. She likes Heifer International and it makes her happy to get the thank you cards they always send. It was getting super hard to find good gifts for her and this is so simple and so easy.

Plus, honeybee colonies are collapsing all over the world. We need pollinators to help grow food. I like food.

See…very self serving.

I agree, it is much better to have everything sorted out in advance. You will be tired and jet lagged and won’t really need another thing to worry about.

Tell Spot to stay off the kittynet, Jolene bit me on the leg this morning because I wasn’t moving fast enough when she wanted her window open.

Mom taught all of us girls to clean as we go. She taught us to have places for our things and to always put them back where they belong. Drop-in visitors would find my place and my next sister’s place to be neat and tidy. Visitors to the other two daughters would turn down coffee because they were worried about the cleanliness of the coffee cup and coffee makers.

So, it wasn’t you. She knows how to do it, she just isn’t interested in doing it.

Miffin will be spoiled if she wants it or not!!! I hope she likes it

I’ll bet you feel a whole lot better now. Sometimes that’s just what your body needs!

So besides working, I put some begonias in a big pot on the porch. I also bought a fushia and I’m hoping that the porch is deep enough that it won’t get too much sun. Hubs pointed out a dark purple Angelonia and said that it was pretty. He has never once said such a thing at a plant nursery so of course we now own one and it is in a pot out in the sun.

The lady who came over and got the extra tomato and pepper plants is going to come over tomorrow for the fern.

Thanks to shoe’s expert lemon tree growing advice, my baby tree is doing so well. It is growing leaves and looking very healthy. Now that it is outside, I’ll check the soil weekly but it rains often enough here that I shouldn’t be watering it often.

Gardening somewhere with good soil and magical sky water is sure looking to be a much difference experience than trying in the desert!

Still on the clock. I’ve started making our Member Outreach calls. The first contact is only reachable by email, so I sent her one. I was actually able to talk to a person at my second contact on my list. He said everything is fine, but Oh, yeah… He could use some help from our Collections department. So the Member and our Collections manager talked, and the member is getting paperwork. Considering I dislike talking on telephones, I’m rather happy at the outcome.

I only walked 1.35 miles today (instead of 2.5) because I went down to the corner market to get a couple of lemons. I’m going to bake branzino with kosher salt, rosemary sprigs, and lemon slices for dinner tonight. The Spousal Unit texted me as I was walking. She asked if we needed anything from BevMo!. I reminded her she wanted maraschino liqueur for Hemingway daiquiris. We also need rum and grapefruit juice for those. She asked me about blue curaçao, and I told her it doesn’t go into daiquiris. She bought it anyway. I guess she’ll be making herself blue mermaids.

Got the oil changed, and washed Carmen. I had a pastami and cheddar sandwich and a Sierra Nevada for lunch, followed by a nap.

Yay!

My big toe does that on Mondays. Good luck on the podiatrist and interview.

And a good early evening all. The winter comforter is hanging in the closet until it will be called upon again, probably in November. More rain so being indoors is a good plan, got swimming and exercise done before the weights got lifted, worked on the chest and biceps today. The training is only about 30 minutes long, but it is varied and fairly intensive, and while I haven’t been overly sore I do know I have been exercising. The big challenge will be post-June trip, will I keep it going or not.

Just having a low-cal Pudding cup (Chocolate but only 70 calories) to complement my cheeseburger as thunder is rumbling around the area. So I’ll be an indoor person for the remainder of the evening.

Neither am I, Pavo. Mowing the lawn is about the limit of my skills. Take it easy now.

Coppertone, toes can be a real pain all out of proportion to their size. Good luck on the interview and the podiatrist.

Cookie, it’s already tough for the small businessman, too bad in the interests of improving the neighborhood they may be making it less people-friendly.

wet one, long as you have help bathing her, it’s all good. Today biceps, tomorrow something else.

JtC, sounds like you might become a fixture at that store, working or not. And keep up the lemon tree reports!

You don’t fool me, woman…

And pudding and cheeseburger are happily mixing together in my stomach, so onward into the wilds of the internet. Have a good evening all.

Because you can’t have your pudding if you don’t eat your meat.

The fish wasn’t great. I cooked it the same way I always do. I thought it was too lemony. Mrs. L.A. didn’t like the texture (though we’ve had it before, and liked it). C’est la vie.

Did Teriyaki stirfry with a martini for dinner tonight. Sipping on a Lady in Red right now.

Been there done that.

All in all it was just another…Wednesday dinner…

I think my response would probably have been Aw, Merde!

And it’s 9:30 in the PM so will head for the kitchen for my late-night-in-bed snackage and turn in for the night. Catch up with y’all tomorrow.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 8c/47f with a predicted high of 15c/59f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Mild cloudy days are the fucking best days for fantasising about your fucking co-irkers. I’m fucking going to hell.” OK, so it’s mostly sunny out there and I am not fantasising about my cow-irkers, just happy they’re at irk and I am not.

Good plan - Oyster cards are very useful but there’s usually a queue to get one at any of the tube stations. You can also top them up at machines in the stations instead of having to see a grumpy member of staff

Toe yoga? Oh, you just know I have to go and check that out on ewetoob, don’t you? I’m sorry to hear that the clubhouse hasn’t got back to you - it’s annoying when that happens, and if they have to say no then it would be kind of them to just do it instead of causing you the anxiety of a wait, and the hurt feelings.

I hope you manage to adapt to life with it pretty quickly!

Moooom you can get a train from Southampton to London, and a tube or the Express to Heathrow. The express train is (obviously) quicker but way more expensive, the tube is slower and often crowded but if you have the time then it’s the cheaper way to go. You can find train info either from the National Rail app, or from t’interweb on various sites. I usually use The TrainLine to look for routes and fares. You can book through the trainline site too but sometimes it’s cheaper to go direct to the individual train operators instead.

That would also be a great way for you to meet fellow stitchers!

I saw what you did there…Miffin… She likes to huddle beside the bookshelves but at the moment she’s definitely on the blanket so she’s accepting the merest hint of spoiling

That was a good start to your calls then, and better than completely cold-calling people to sell them stuff.

I’m up and have had a couple of cups of tea. Off to the gym once I’ve finished this post, then back in time to deliver 'im indoors to the station as he’s off to Scotland today to visit his mum and a couple of his friends. I have two fence panels to paint so hopefully will do that today as we’re not predicted any precipitation. Other than that, I have nothing else planned so there will be some slothage in my day.

By far the best (and cheapest) way to travel between Southampton and Heathrow is by National Express coach. Around £25 and frequent coaches.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 66 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 83 and cloudy. There’s a slight chance of rain late afternoon into early evenin’. We shall go over to the church house this mornin’ so I can deal with candle duty and then we will be bears who brunch at Eggs Up. I took a big chikin outta da freezer last night and it’s almost thawed out. It will get cooked later
today and get turned into chikin sallit tomorrow. I mentioned last week about the son of church friends who died. His funeral will be Sattidy mornin’ with a reception for family afterwards. We’ll take chikin sallit sammiches on Hawaiian rolls.

Now I need more caffeine and then I suppose I must purtify and once again don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. This has been goin’ on way too much lately. My RDOS at home sloth attire is beginnin’ to feel neglected.

Happy Thursday Y’all!
