(OLD) It's Tax Time in the MMP!

Snerk…that’s funny

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. it’s my Firday!
We were watching a documentary about Ernest Shackleton earlier, and they mentioned he had to eat his sled dogs to survive.
Roommate: “He got his entire crew to safety.”
Darci, looking at TV screen: “EXCEPT FOR MY PEOPLE!

Woke stoopit early. Tried to fall back to sleep. Finally gave up after a couple of hours. Gonna be a long day. Fingers crossed that the rain holds off till late afternoon…

That’s pretty much it. I may or may not have pics later. For now, I need caffeine.

Happy Earth Day! Happy Saturday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 78 and N.O.S. for the day. I shall continue to be pitiful and slothful, though I feel much better today. The soreness is pretty much gone, so there’s that. I shall attempt to get a copy of the police report today, but I am not holdin’ my breath about my chance of success bein’ as it is Sattidy. Any need to feed today will be via forage.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all! Happy Earth Day!

Morning all. Spent the night at the local Best Western, just too noisy to sleep here. Off to referee and coach soccer in a few minutes, so just wanted to touch bases and will try to catch up sometime this afternoon.

I’d been hoping to spend more time on the porch last night, but by 8 , the wind was cutting through me. Waiting on the plants was probably the smart move.

Van Go, it always seems to go that way - hot when you need some cooling, freezing when you’re done. I hope you’re power stayed firmly in place.

Doggio , give her time to become confident in her guarding abilities. And if she doesn’t, maybe she cute any intruders into submission.

JtC, that sounds like a great plan, giving out thrift store books. I know that we have a woman known as the Book Lady that will sometimes show up at the church where we get food boxes and give our books to families. I don’t see why the produce box people would be different.

As for Dolly’s music, we’ve all got different tastes. I’d much rather hear people talk about her generosity and kindness over her musical talent any day!

127 year drive… not sure if I could handle that long of a road trip!

Just lazing away the morning before having to purdify myself for the thing at the library. Not that this is any layer than a weekday morning, but somehow laying in bed on a Saturday just feels different. I hope you all have an awesome SaturEarthday!

Yay for the cortisone shot. Hubs was actually able to sleep through the night; he only woke up at 6:30 because he had rolled onto the spot where the shot had been given but he was able to get back to sleep easily. Boo for whatever is causing pain in my arm; I’ve taken Ibuprophen and am going to put a heating pad on it.

We went to gas up both cars. $1 off a gallon with the Kroger fuel points so we paid $2.459/gallon. Hubs is off to redeem his free bagels at Einsteins then to his weekly blood draw. I’m going to wash dishes then do a little mending.

After the absolutely gorgeous weather down in Ohio last week, I’m getting weary of this rainy, coolish weather and my arm hurting just makes it feel worse. Perhaps this should go in the minor venting thread; oh well.

Greetings from the vendor fair! Slow so far but the weather is nice, if windy. Pics on FB if anyone cares.

Back to it.

I just skimmed 308 posts and can only manage to say: I’m sorry for the losses of pets, medical issues, house infrastructure issues, and family and personal medical issues; hooray for furniture, boat, and needlework accomplishments and good medical news; and boo for meteorological and car complaints.

My Lovely Wife does the taxes. It is among her finest attributes.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 48 degrees and damp outside. The expected high will be close to 60, but skies shall remain cloudy and spit out rain showers during the day.

I went to the mall yesterday, and as always, it was an exercise in frustration. I walked nearly five miles while shopping at the mall. I noted that I was really, really tired toward the end of my time there, and walking was a real effort. This doesn’t usually happen, but I figured it was because I was hungry, having eaten only yogurt very early in the morning. I found most of what I needed but was so tired that I didn’t make it to two of the stores I wanted to check out. I wanted a couple of blazers that didn’t look cheap and matched or contrasted nicely with some slacks I already have. I got to the mall around 10:00 am and left at 2:00. You would have thought I would have found everything, but nope. Plus, there’s all the undressing, trying stuff on, and dressing again. I miss being slim and knowing how a specific size with certain brands will fit. I have no one to blame but myself.

My throat was a little scratchy this morning, but I attributed it to GERD. But now, I think I’m coming down with some respiratory crud. I am achy, and I can’t get warm. I usually run hot. Damn it! The timing couldn’t be worse. I’m supposed to leave for the traveling road show on Monday morning, and I don’t want to infect other people. I’ll have to see how I’m doing tomorrow. If it’s worse, I must cancel the first day at least and catch up to them on Tuesday. Fingers crossed, everybody, that I can manage to fight this crap off. I had visions of running a couple more errands today, but I think I will indulge in sloth, wrapped up in blankets, and drink tea.

I saw the pics on the book of faces, FCM. Very nice! I’ll bet that rainbow hat is one of the first things to go!

Well, I should migrate somewhere where I can get horizontal and cover myself with blankets.

Well shit, Taters, that’s not good. The only thing worse than getting sick the day before departing on a major trip is … getting sick the day after departing on a major trip. It seems you’ve dodged that bullet. Best of luck as this illness sorts out.

Continuing in that inauspicious vein …

Today is a semi-disastrous day at Casa LSL too. Though nothing on the scale of so many of us who’re battling with major chronic problems. The sun is shining, the day is warm, and I’m not irking. So far so good. But the wheels had already fallen off before I got up. Ouch!

Last night we’d had our nice swanky meal out, Her Ladyship looked hawt, we came home, then watched a touching movie, The Book Thief. Post-movie with me being the early bird I went to bed as usual and she, being the night owl, would follow ~2 hours later.

I wake up 8 hours later here in the morning and she is not in bed with me. I commonly sleep through her coming to bed, but she’s always there when I wake up. I can see the bedroom door is still closed and the light is still on out in the living area. Oh Crap!

I leap out of bed and find her curled up on the floor in the other bathroom half wrapped in towels and moaning miserably. She’s had food poisoning since about midnight and has been barfing, etc., pretty much nonstop since then, 6 hours later. All done so daintily and discreetly that I never heard a thing. Nor did she choose to shout for me; she’s still in that “I’m long-time single, I can and therefore will take care of myself with no help” mode. De-aaar, what are you thinking?!

Anyhow, here 6 more hours later at noon she’s done draining and has transferred to bed while accepting some help. I’ve cleaned everything up, not that she had made much of a mess despite her distress. Poor thing!

We had shared an appetizer and the bread & butter plate but otherwise eaten separate entrées and drinks. I suffered no ill effects. Of course.

A darn shame because that was a very nice restaurant and we both enjoyed everything about it. Until half of we didn’t. I cannot imagine her ever returning.

I’m about to have belated breakfasting. Her Ladyship is sleeping peacefully.

Cheers all! Happy weekend to those on a conventional schedule

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 12c/54f with no predicted change today, and mostly cloudy. That explains why it’s been sunny most of the day and feels much warmer than 54f. Weather app says “Imagine if you were riding a horse and all that horse wanted to do was eat grass. That’s like this fucking weather. Boring”. Well, it’s good enough for me as I’ve been out and about most of the day.

I was up first thing to feed Shadow and clean whichever of the litter trays he’d used, and give him his meds. Then a small bowl of berry granola and a cup of tea for me, and off to the gym for a couple of hours. Back home for a quick change, out to the hairdressers to get my barnet cut. Back home for a cuppa, collect 'im indoors and go out for lunch at the Good Chinese Place.

Errands in town, then off to the retail park to get cat litter, soft food and treats from the pet store for Shadow, and a nose into the homewares place where I picked up a couple of 35L storage tubs for stuff that’s currently in bags under my work desk here. Finally, we went to the builder’s merchants to look at bathroom things. We’re planning to refurb the bathroom, and hopefully convert the small shower room to a terlit, and put a shower cubicle where the current terlit is. Then new bath and handbasin, new tiles, flooring and cupboards etc in the main bathroom.

Pilot I hope Her Ladyship is feeling better after some sleep, and stops being a martyr!

Swampy have you resorted to puppy dog eyes and pitiful whimpering yet?

Moooom I saw the pic of the cat butt coasters and other stuff on FB, I hope the sale went well

shoe love the spiral! You is talented indeed!

Taters feel better soon!

Right, time to get myself tarted up, we are going out for a band’s album launch party tonight, meeting up with friends and going for a curry on the way to the venue. Probably end up in the Giff afterwards, that will be messy…

I spent this morning paying bills and catching up on volunteer-related stuff (plus a couple hours of proposal work), but I’ve decided that this afternoon is going to be Me Time. I still need to start getting stuff together for the NJ trip: I’d like to leave the house NLT 8am tomorrow, so I can drop Bailey off at the kennel and get my car washed and still hit the road at a respectable time. I’m aiming to get to my cousin’s at around 2pm, and including one quick stop on the way north it’ll be about a 5-hour drive. But, I won’t start gathering stuff and packing until this evening/tonight. For now (at 1pm) I’m just going to take a quick shower, then relocate to the living room for some S4 The Good Fight while I eat lunch and popcorn and maybe play the NY Times Spelling Bee.

We’re under a severe thunderstorm watch this afternoon, and it started raining 5-10 minutes ago. It’s already coming down pretty hard, and I’ve already heard some distant thunder; actual thunderstorms aren’t as common here as I’d like them to be. Bailey is happy about their rarity, though! She isn’t hiding in the bathroom (aka storm central) yet, but I expect her to go there soon. The Weather Channel says the heaviest rain will start in a couple of hours, and it’s supposed to keep raining for the rest of the day and most of the evening/night.

I’m glad for the rain today: tomorrow will be partly sunny with a high of 65 here and mostly sunny with a high of 70 in NJ, which is all perfect driving weather. And Monday’s forecasts are similar, which I’ll appreciate on the drive home.

D’awww!!!

Also, I saw this in a FB ad yesterday – from one of those t-shirt companies that may or may not be a scam – and thought of your new feline overlord:

That is really very cool!!

Harumph. I hope you’ll get reimbursed for that…?

Oh no! I’m glad the, um, tide seems to have stemmed.

Why are there no pictures of Buddha Hackett?

Heaving was OK, stopped at the likker Sto for bourbon, and took Dari out. She’s not a fan of rain, but better about it than “Princess Pretty Paws” was. And Da Jungle delivered my replacement measuring shot glass shattered and damp. And the floor is still lava:

I’d settle for not hiding from pizza. :pizza:

Yay!

Hope it’s nothing too bad, Taters.

Hope Her Ladyship keeps feeling better, Pilot

This thread from two years ago might help:

Swampy, I hope you’ve recovered and that twuck gets fixed soon.

Shoe - gorgeous as ever. I have a few kits hanging around that I could do, but then I’ll never catch up with the weekly MMP.

red I had a coworker who would bring in his wife’s baklava at Eid al Fitr. He said he married her for her baklava, and I can believe it.

doggio hope Darci and Spot are acclimating to the new situation. Looking forward to more stories.

Pilot hope her Ladyship recovers fast. Such a shame.

Taters my parents were mentioning the cold, wet spring and how miserable it’s been. Hope you’re soon on the other side of the crud.

The other day we had hail, and today we had spring for about 6 hours. Now we’re back to late winter weather - possible freeze on Tuesday night. Still not enough water, despite lots of cloudy weather.

Clock in the bathroom decided to give up the ghost. Not so easy to find a battery-operated clock that fits our requirements. We did buy something, but I think it’s too small and not bright enough.

Time to find something for dinner and watch something on tv. Enjoy the Saturday!

This happened to us at a restaurant that rhymes with Amos Saves. It was both of us. The food was tasty and we just went on home and then just about midnight it struck us both really hard.

We were able to narrow it down to the coleslaw. Other than that we had different food. This had us out of commission until late afternoon the next day.

I called Amos Saves and talked to the manager. He listened to me and then he said he was sorry but he was unable to give us comps for another visit.

I explained in language we don’t use in this thread that I had originally made the call to let him know that there was a problem but when he accused me of trying to mooch free food all bets were off. I also told him to keep an eye on his Yelp and Google reviews as well as his facebook page, and after this conversation there was no way possible that I would consider to eat at his Ptomaine Pit.

My wife has not eaten any coleslaw that I didn’t make ever since.

They’re tearing out the cement walk. Rather noisy. This is just the preliminary stuff. They’ll need to build frames, pack down some gravel, pour the cement… No idea when it will be done. Fortunately, the weather is supposed to be better later in the week. We’ll have to go out through the catio and walk around the house to get in and out. Or move the litter box so we can use the side door.

I gave myself pretty bad food poisoning in college. Made a fried egg sandwich with some combo of old rancid butter, old guccky eggs, and / or old discolored mayo.

In any case, as a strapping young lad of 20 or 21 I spent about 6 hours laying naked in a shower pan disgorging said lunch from both ends every few minutes.

Now 44 years later I can count on one hand the times I’ve persuaded myself to make an egg sandwich since. Certain aversive experiences embed themselves right down in our core lizard brain. That was one of them.

This restaurant doesn’t open until a bit later but I intend to call the manager as well. I still have the other half of her meal she had taken home as leftovers.

I partially blame food poisoning on a very bad break-up. It was planned that I’d go to Indiana for her grandfather’s funeral, but I had some bad chicken wings the day before. I couldn’t stay too far from porcelain. Four months later, I was told not to move to Virginia to be with her. After quitting my job. I’d be close to retirement from the university by now, had I stayed at the job.

Anyway, packing for a week of install of the exhibits. Need to remember to take all the chargers–both USB types, computer, drill/drivers, I’m sure there are at least one I’m forgetting.

pilot Hoping her Ladyship is feeling better.
