[Old] Lets have a healthy breakfast in the MMP

Happy almost Hump Day

It’s been a very busy few days.
As mentioned Sunday morning, I hiked with a friend at Island Lake State Recreation Area. Our trail was 6 miles; however, we ended up hiking 7.92 miles. We hiked the yellow trail starting at the end and intended to hike to the beginning. We would occasionally pass posts that we had to look at the reverse side to see what the mileage was. When we saw the 1.0 marker, we knew we had one more mile to hike. At one point there was a Y. We continued along the leg of the Y since the other top part of the Y looked like it was labeled as the blue trail. After we’d hiked a while, my friend said, “haven’t we gone at least a mile?” I said we should be there very shortly. Coming the opposite way were two mountain bikers and I made a little gesture so one of them stopped. I asked him if we were close to the parking lot and he said we were going the wrong way. So, we had to turn around and go back to the Y and this time take the right upper hand part of the Y. I was BEAT! (not breast LOL) Had just a little trouble on the drive home, approx 20+ miles. Got home and had about 1-1/2 hrs until mass so I thought that I could take a catnap, get cleaned up and get to mass on time. Well I was so tired that I woke up 7 minutes after mass started. Oh well. Luckily I dvr’d the mass that morning so I watched it that evening. Palm Sunday is the longest mass of the year because the entire Passion is read. But the tv broadcast is only allowed about 25 minutes so no Creed and the Passion was cut down to only the most salient passages. Hubs did go to our parish for mass and he said he was unable to stand for the entire Passion. He said mass was so long, he almost fell asleep twice.

Have worked both M & Tu. Yesterday I called the guy who had been in charge of all the sanitizing products for the office during the pandemic and asked if there were any wipes left over because the new office location is filthy; it hadn’t been used for the last 11 months. I only asked for one package of wipes. He put together a box of about 4 packs of wipes, 3 cans of sanitizing spray, a box of latex gloves and 2 boxes (that I didnt open) of some other cleaning product. So, I went and picked that up and also worked out on 4 machines at the Fitness Center. Had leftover pulled piggy for dinner.

After work today filtered 3-1/2 gal of water, walked with a former co-worker in the neighborhood and made cheeseburgers for dinner. Then I mumped and am writing this out. As soon as I’m done, I have to go Krogering.

My BFF called during work to ask if I could take her to the hospital tomorrow for some kind of appointment, I think imaging of some sort, because she accidentally tripped and fell in the backyard on Friday and her arm came out of the socket and she went to the ER to have it reset. Tomorrow is a followup. Her husband can’t take her because he’s having cataract surgery tomorrow and her daughter is taking him. So, no matter what kind of issues each individual is having, someone else is having worse. This is something that I have to keep reminding myself in re Hubs.

I’ve only read post #1 because I had to first read all 55 posts from Sunday on last weeks MMP. So, here are a few comments on those posts:

shoe congrats on being recognized with a raise for the great work that you do! :confetti_ball:

Taters Hubs enjoys feeding the birds very much. I’ve had to buy a replacement bird feeder because those gosh darn squirrels gnaw parts of it out, sometimes it ends up on the ground. The Bark Butter Feeder looks interesting. I looked up where a store might be that sells them and found one not too terribly far away. Do you think that squirrels can destroy it?

When I saw LSL’s pic of the license plate, being a Spartan so also Big Ten fan, I immediately thought perhaps it had to do with Scott Frost’s implosion as coach. Obviously the real cornhuskers, hippie and BBB already covered this. Haven’t heard who the new coach is (after the interim who was terminated for some unsavory conduct).

hippie there’s misalignment?? I couldn’t see it but then I’m not that much of a crafter/quilter. Your test block is beautiful. Will you use it to make something smaller?

doggio  at the shipwreck meme.

Ok, off to Kroger to get the end of the circular discounts and a few necessities that we are out of. Probably won’t be able to read M & Tu until tomorrow or Th. Take care All.

I have just become an unemployed cheesemaker. The diner owner’s husband was in a nasty car accident yesterday and will be a long time recovering. She has chosen to close the diner now because she knows she can’t take care of him AND run the diner. I am very sad for them both.

He seemed to be very nice and wanted his wife to succeed at her dream of running a diner because his dream has always been to be a trophy husband.

I will also miss having the extra spending money. It never went into the bill paying pile, it was always in the fun pile so we won’t be hurting or anything. We just can’t give as much away anymore.

The ONLY reason I saw it was because I’ve been counting threads since I was around 10. Once you get into that mindset, it sticks. Nobody else noticed, because the mistake was too small to even see unless you are trained to it.

Argh! If I don’t post in the morning, I get overwhelmed with all the posts. You people lead interesting lives with a lot going on!

I figured out that the incline on the treadmill is not my friend. I usually crank it up to 14 (max is 15), but today I only went up to 10 and patted myself for being conservative. Within 30 minutes, I was in too much pain to continue. Bah!

Tomorrow morning I need to shop for groceries for Easter dinner, and then I’ll have Ms. Dog for the afternoon.

I have read all but retained very little. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll do better.

Evening all. It got to 86F today here, so the calories burned at the gym were replace by no- calorie Pepsi along with a Mac-n-Cheese dinner. Also stopped for more Diet Pepsi/Pepsi Zero (Diet Pepsi early on and Pepsi Zero later in the day) and some bottled water at Kroger. Wal-Mart provided several flashlights, will put one in my car I think and the others will do around the house.

I think I’m going to spend several hundred dollars and get a professional leak detector over here; the plumbers are good at their jobs but for something no one can see I’d rather have an expert determine where the problem is. Had the water on for about an hour this evening, used around 22 gallons, some of it filled the toilets but the rest was going someplace else. Ah well, the joys of home ownership…may ask Cookie if there is any additional room at that place of his…

Cat Glove, sounds like you got a good deal on the cleaning stuff, and hope BFF is recovering nicely.

Pilot, that’s a lot of cheesecake. And rather boorish of the guy to scold the dog via remote…we do live in interesting times…

JtC, consider me drooling. That menu almost had me looking into flights to Tuscon. Alas, the nearest one to me is 400 miles away. And that airplane graveyard sounds interesting.

For all the key fob folks, my car told me one of my fobs had a low battery, so I’m using the other one and once both get low I’ll have it changed for both. Don’t know if this is a good idea or not, but we’ll see.

bumba, real fish, red, when I bought the house here in N. Ali-bama I specified it would be one-story and my Brother moved recently from a 2-story to a ranch. Knees will get us all in the end.

Real Fish, glad Dad-unit has a great NP visiting, and looks like the van drama may come to a successful conclusion.

Sari, {{{ }}} for you and Ripple.

Get better soon, swampy, pilot. Glad the plague didn’t get you.

Ok, onward into the evening. All y’all take care.

I just looked at the menu too and must say that I didn’t know how extensive their dessert bread menu was. I looked right past the sweets to find my prize! I see a nice melted brie in our nearfuture, LOL.

If the bread doesn’t call you to Tucson, how about a tour of the boneyard? You wouldn’t get the sort of tour I did*, but you would get the tour you deserve. i.e. You would start asking questions and showing interest and your tour would last all day instead of the scheduled half hour and they would invite you to come back the next day so they could show off more.

*I was stationed in the area during part of my floozy years. You know me well enough by now to just clutch your pearls without anymore details!).

This pattern is the second in a Block of the Month quilt. The fabric is supplied and it is very nice stuff. Before I start cutting that up I use fabric from my stash to make the block to find the mistakes.

Tomorrow I will start on the real blocks. They need to be done by Saturday so I can take them to the third class. where I will get the stuff for month three.

Matt Rhule is the new coach. Most recently he was with the Carolina Panthers. Prior to. Carolina he was at Baylor. Hasn’t flamed out yet in a moral or ethical crisis, so there is that. After Frost and the Mickey Joseph domestic violence debacle I’ll take stolid and boring. Maybe hippie can stop by and add more knowledgeable details.

So sorry to hear this. I know how much you enjoyed being the Mistress Of Fabulous Cheese. Hers hoping some other eating concern will hear of your availibility and swoop in on your magic talents.

And that bread bakery menu was to die for! Good coffee and good bread are my two daily musts but I don’t have a jewel like that to dive into the heaven that is real bread. I can cobble together something close with a couple of hobby bakeries but not nearly the breadth (notice what slipped in there?) of selection. Their prices are really good too

@Kitten_Mitten

This is the full king quilt that will be at the end of my jpurney:

Back from Krogering. When I got to the store, the normal door was locked so I went in the normal OUT door. As soon as I got in, there was an announcement that it was 9:30 so there were only 30 minutes until store closed. So, I was racing up and down the aisles like I was on Supermarket Sweepstakes. Remember that show from the '60’s? I told Hubs this and he remembered his Mom watching it. Most people ran to the meat counter and loaded up on that show. Anyway, like I said previously, today was the end of the sale items in this week’s circular. Most of the items I bought were on sale. So, my total was just shy of $40 and I had discounts of just shy of $19. So, I bought $59 worth of groceries for $40 which is a 32% savings. Not bad, if I do say so myself.

You all are very prolific. Tuesday is not over and there’s already 108 posts. I’ll read a few tonight but have to get up early to use those cleaning products on the new office then meet with the supervisor at 7:30 to train him on some procedures that he is unaware of. He’s brand new to the position. Normally we don’t start that early, actually I can come and go as I pretty much please but since I have to leave at 8:50 to take my friend to the hospital, we need to start early. Thankfully new guy was understanding.

Shamefully, my first thought seeing the pic was “that would make a wonderful needlepoint piece”.

That pattern and the fabrics and colors you picked are going to work out so well, it is going to be an amazing piece of art.

I am here to tell you that their bread is everything you think it is and more. I’m glad I called ahead to have the Ciabatta rolls put aside for me because it is a pretty popular place and they sell out almost daily.

While the nice bread pusher was filling our bag, she asked what I was going to do with all those rolls and hubs explained that I had made him drive me all the way from close-to-Prescott (not really a lie, folks don’t know where we live so this is what he says to kinda explain) because I just had to have their bread to freeze and eat with hand churned (NOT, I use a mixer at very low speed) butter, she very sweetly offered us more bags for the freezer.

Besides the prices you saw listed, there are discounts that are offered in the stores. It was well worth the drive, plus…flowers

Thank you for the kind words about my current employment status. There is new coffee shop about 20 miles down the road that might be interested in my cream cheese. I’ve already talked to the owner, but haven’t gone further. I guess that will happen sometime this week. Heifer International is offering me a goat at half price and how can I pass that up? (The money will buy a goat for a family elsewhere, I won’t get a goat of my own.)

Don’t make me come visit and scold you in person.

As your doc and BBB here said, immobility is bad; you want to keep it moving. But that’s darn hard to do once you make it hurt again. Make haste slowly. Under-do first, more-do later, over-do never. Repeat after me … :).

First no vegan (read “PITA”) cheese and now no cheese at all. Damn. Blessed are the cheesemakers. Even the former cheesemakers. Nice to know the loss of income won’t leave you skint.

Huh. I read cerby’s name with a “k” sound and not an “s” sound…

I went and drank Pink Lemonade sour and watched Igor and the Red Elvises (it was worth it just for the surf guitar version of “Hava Nagila”).

{{{{sari and Ripple}}}}

I’d be up for both!

I’m sorry. And I hope her hubby is gonna be OK.

Thank you for the blessings and yes, dang. While I took cheese making up by choice, I kinda fell into the cheese selling gig and then branched out. I liked it because if helped fund my constant failed cheddar attempts.

I really need hubs to deal with some of his beer making stuff because I need room for another cheese cave so I can start playing with stinky cheese. From everything I have read and heard, blue mold spores are sneaky AF and once they get loose in your cave, all of your cheese will be blue. Blue cream cheese=nice. Blue caerphilly? not so much.

As you were looking at the boneyard website, did you happen to notice that several retired AF ones were there? Wanna guess who floozied in the cockpit of not one but TWO Air Force Ones. (cockpits are not nearly as much fun as they sound, there are too many pokey things all over the place)

Thanks for the good wishes for her hubby. I’m really sad for both of them, things were going so well for them and then they got shit on with no reason.

I’m a slow learner, but I really am taking what you say to heart. I will keep chanting, “Under-do, more-do, never-do over-do.”

My mother used to call freshly-grated Romano “stinky cheese” because that’s what we kids called it. Some of the best cheese on earth is stinky. Sign me up! I love bleu cheese, but I had no idea the spores or whatever were that sneaky. I learn so much here! Once you go bleu, you can never undo.

Well, there’s always this suggestion:

You’re brave.

This made me smile. I’m sorry things aren’t going so well, though.

What’s weird? It’s like oatmeal, but, yanno, corn. Which is tastier than horse food anyway.

{ clutches pearls }

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

That’s what she said!

< offers fainting couch >

5:30 a.m. and I canNOT shut off my brain.

A few minutes ago, it went from “smattering drizzle” to “sky is falling” so that ain’t helpin’ much.

Shoot, some of y’all probably fixin’ to start your day, and I haven’t finished mine.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 88 and N.O.S. for the day. Thanks for all the well wishes yestiddy. I feel a lot better this mornin’ and have attributed the ick to sinusy stuff. I shall be busy today. We shall procure provisions, I need to finish up the edit of the powerpoint thingy especially since I did nuttin’ all of Tuesday, and I need to go over to the church house and get the new wicks into the candles and refill the candles with liquid paraffin. We shall get fried chikin N.O.L.s from the Pubic Sto’ just cause. With all that needs doin’ I may have to forego nappage and day drinkin’. The horror!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother of bothers, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. How I suffer!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! Well, it’s morning as I start to type this but it will be afternoon here when you read it. It’s 8c/46f with a predicted high of 9c/48f and rain showers. Weather app says “The weather forecast for the next few hours is fucking unacceptable”. I agree, it’s definitely showering out there as I can see people walking around with umbrellas up.

We have an offer-holder visit day on campus today so there are lots of people around, and lots of extra security guys wandering about making sure people don’t try to get into places they shouldn’t. There was one spectacular visit day a few years ago where some innocent schoolie managed to get into the radiation labs which are supposed to be so secure you almost need to provide a passport, fingerprints and blood sample to get in!

Since it’s nearly lunchtime, I plan to go out for something to eat and pop by my old office as my colleague is there by herself today. I thought it would be nice to call in and say hello for a few minutes. There’s a rumour that dept’s team manager is on campus today (she almost exclusively works at home due to health problems) so I might see her too.

Other than that, I have a normal work day, finishing at 4pm then scooting home to put the last bits and pieces in my suitcase before we head off to the Big City tonight and the airport tomorrow.
