(Old) Wait - what time is it in the MMP?

So last night I went to my friend Buddy’s 75th birthday party at his motorcycle clubs clubhouse. That was interesting. But now I’m up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall do cleaning and laundry before college handegg time(and late night hockey).

Sorry about your neighbor, sari.

Happy Doperversary, swampy!! I shall consume leftover birthday(and a gin&tonic) in your honor!

As a 46 Damn Yankee I can do that. [Airplane]I speak Jive[/Airplane]

Hope you’re not ringing in a new day today, VanGo*.

Indeed. {{{{Cat_Glove}}}}

Grilled cheese sandwich stuffing just might be good. Then again, I’ve always wanted to make stuffing out of White Castle burgers. My sister is buying Thanksgiving dinner from Publix. No comment.

I’m not a fan of stuffing or dressing or whatever you call the soggy bread concoction. ick. But my mom used to make stuffing balls - mixing the stuff up, then forming it into tennis-ball size servings and baking it. Easy to serve, easy to save as leftovers. So I’ll try that this year, with a slight cheat of using StoveTop as the base.

I’m in the midst of cleaning my good ice maker. So far, I’ve run the clean cycle with vinegar, then with water. The second water cycle just started, then I’ll be done. I figure if I do this monthly, I won’t get the hard water deposits accumulating.

FCD is taking his mom to visit BIL, and he’s got to stop for a spark plug and an air filter for our mulcher/vac. The plug was corroded and the filter was packed with crud. We didn’t use it last year - who knows what the residual gas in the carburetor bowl looks like. But with luck once this is all taken care of, we can start it and I can attack the leaves. I swear, it looked like it was snowing brown and yellow when the wind picked up.

It’s a dirty job, but it’s gotta be done.

I make a mean dressing and stuffing. If I’m forced to make a turkey, I like to put a little dressing inside the bird; the trick is not to overstuff it. I also bake a dish of dressing.

I’ll probably make some stuffing/dressing to accompany the Thanksgiving dinner. Again, there won’t be many of us, so I don’t want to turn this into a huge meal because we’re not fans of leftovers for days. And I don’t care for turkey all that much. I feel vaguely ill when I eat it. I mean, I’m not gonna die or anything, and it won’t kill me to eat it once a year, but that’s my limit.

I haven’t done a darn thing but feed the dogs and cruise the internet. I should get busy.

I have tinnitus also, it can be maddening at times and annoying always. Mine started after my TBI, so almost seven years ago. Hearing aids (which I needed and used before the TBI) actually buffered the tinnitus once my audiologist fine tuned the settings for me, making it less annoying.

Me too, brother, me too.

Both of mine got compromised two weeks ago, a few days apart, one probably skimmed at a gas station, the other hacked somehow (different bank), so I had two frozen accounts days before my mortgage was due at my hard ass, heartless mortgage bank (US Bank, if anyone cares). That was a mind nicking, soul sucking couple days of adulting to do.

If the hackers can take it out instantly, why does it take the bank 10 days to two weeks to redeposit it your money after you file a fraud report?

Happened to me a couple of months ago, it’s very easy to have happen to you. Took me almost a month to realize I had been had. Less than a hundred dollars but I don’t have money to spare. I resolved to never again order off of Facebook or if they approached me rather than me seeking them out. Lesson learned. That scammer may even have been who brought about one of my most recent card frauds, selling my info to another scammer since it worked for them. Another lesson learned (just this moment, the :bulb: dawned). Duh, Boo.

shoe, please don’t feel stupid, unless I should too. There is just shameless evil out there that we can’t relate to because we are not like that. I’d far rather be like us.

Discourse is scolding me because my stressed bonked brain can’t make the quoting and reply work how they want, so I’ll stop trying to reply to Mumper folks til my brain recovers. I don’t want to keep getting scolded or to clutter up the page. Brain injuries can be cruel and stress makes it even worse and I’m at my wits end after this week. I’ll be thinking of everyone and their critters.

Glad to see you back with us cat glove. I hope that your hubby is back on the road to recovery.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Not much on the agenda today except going to Staples for a CO2 cartridge for the Soda Stream.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Sadie spent much of last night cuddled up to me. She’s on full rations now, and has a good appetite. Follows me into the kitchen in the morning giving her little croak of a “meow”, as in “is my breakfast ready yet?”

Youngest son told me last night that his long nightmare of separation and divorce is finally settled. Now he just has to pay her off with a loan and make sure he keeps up with child support and alimony. But at least he’s free of the witch and has better custody time than before. So that’s four for four of my kids who have divorced. Seems to run in the family: my parents divorced, as did my brother, and so did I.

Time to get my ass out for a walk.

Aw! :heart_eyes_cat:

Mrs. L.A. had some instant oatmeal with orange marmalade for breakfast. I decided to use up the rest of the turkey taco meat from last week or whenever, and made a taco omelette with shredded ‘Mexican-blend’ cheese and topped with Tapatio and sour cream.

Went for my walk. Man, I wish people would take down their Harris/Walz yard signs; it’s just sad at this point.

I sent a message to my GP asking for another referral for bursitis treatment. Both hips cause me pain despite warming up prior to walking.

Because you may be trying to scam them, right? No matter how innocent you look.

I got motivated. FCD got the mulcher/vac running and I de-leafed the back yard. Then I decided to clean out the garden shed. The back of the truck is loaded with broken tools and 2 big bags of assorted trash. Plus a Ryobi week whacker that never wanted to work right. I’ll leave it next to the dumpster in case someone might want to get it working. Then I swept up a lot of crap and put things back in with plenty of space to spare. Yay!

Tomorrow I’ll mulch/vac the front yard, unless it rains. It’s amazing how well a Briggs & Stratton works with a clean air filter and an uncorroded spark plug! I believe for now I’ve earned some chillage.

Probably because the problem is epidemic. There were nearly a half a million reported cases last year.

Boo that was an incredibly kind & supportive post, so fuck Discource for making you feel scolded at.

I’ve not had the time, mental energy, or courage to even log into my bank account between last night and today, let alone call the fraud dept.

I’m exhausted, hungry, Monkey has the zoomies and is frankly pissing me off, and now I hafta go to work when all I wanna do is huddle in a corner and cry.

I’m not taking good care of my emotional support kitteh, let alone the rats, let alone me.

I went to a church womens breakfast this morn.
Quiche, casseroles, muffins!
I am now full.
The warm weather is over and it will be 50s for a week.
Tuesday nights claims to be 33.
Church tomorrow; football also, but I am resting on my team’s quality so far ( Ravens)

I’m getting ready to go on a long walk as soon as the towels finish their amusement park ride in the dryer. I haven’t been able to get out for a long time due to election and family issues. Oh, shoot. I should call my brother first to run some things past him. He hates it when I talk while I’m out because the traffic noise makes it hard for him to hear. (He’s hard of hearing.) Well, I HOPE to get out for a walk today.

swampy, a very happy Dopeversary to you! We lurves you, and I can’t imagine this place without your warm-hearted posts.

Why do you have to be nekkid to flip the mattress?

VanGo, I worry about you. You’re a valued member of this community, and I always enjoy reading your posts, even those that come from a darker place. For what it’s worth, we care about you.

BooFae, thanks for teaching me something. My dad always called it dressing, and I assumed he got it from his grandparents, as both sets were immigrants from England. Now I’m curious about the etymology and will have to go look. I LOVE that your mother had a dedicated stuffing pan! My mom had a dedicated wooden spaghetti sauce spoon.

Shoe, here’s hoping for a good end to a craptastic week.

What a good idea! I like both of those things but sometimes gets a little bored by oatmeal alone. Tell her thank you from me! :bowl_with_spoon::tangerine: I use Bobs Red Mill thick cut oatmeal in the microwave. There’s Siamese scorn to bear if I forget to let her lick the last dregs of oatmeal and milk out of the bowl but I doubt some hints of marmalade will faze her.

Sorry you got scammed, Shoe. It’s really easy to get taken in. I bought a ukulele a couple months ago. Did research, found one I liked, watched a positive YouTube review, and then went directly to the company’s website to order one. After the transaction completed, a pop-up box came up that said something like “Thank you for purchase. Confirmation email will be sent at later time.” That confirmation email never came. I had created an account in the website, but there was no way to view my purchase history or produce a receipt. Two days later, I pulled up the website to look for a “contact us” link, and the entire website was gone!

Convinced I’d been scammed, I went to PayPal (which I’d used for payment) to dispute the charge. I got messages from the recipient in very broken English apologizing for the inconvenience and assuring me the ukulele would be shipped immediately. I asked for tracking information and none was provided. Then I was told it was shipped. I asked for tracking information and none was provided. Then I was told it was not yet shipped but would be tomorrow. I asked for tracking information and none was provided.

A few days later, a ukulele appeared on my doorstep. And a very nice one at that! And their website subsequently came back on line. A very weird experience. Anyway, I got lucky.

I skipped Friday ukulele club yesterday though. The organizer has set up a concert/sing-along at a nearby veteran’s home, which is nice, but I won’t be able to make it. Normally I would have gone and practiced along anyway, but given the audience, it’s a very patriotic set list. And honestly, I really wasn’t in the mood to go and play “God Bless America” and shit for two hours.

Bro 1 and SIL are due in about three hours. I am irrationally excited to see them. We’re pretty much ready for them, and I’m all packed for our upcoming stay on the Strip. Taking a break from last minute cleaning to post here, and then Mrs W and I will finish making up the second guest bed for Bro 2, who arrives tomorrow.

Welp, back at it.

The nausea has lifted… was able to eat somewhat normally today.

I’m glad to hear Sadie is doing well.

Thank you for the gg and Jolene story. I am also 5’2”, and when I come across someone smaller than me I feel like Shaquille O’Neal. It doesn’t happen often.

I usually hit bassett’s turkey for thanksgiving food if I’m at home.

Still working on the great furniture shuffle. Now the search for the correct size love seat and couch will happen. Thinking ikea for next weekend.
