Sorry to have been remiss in my Mumping but I have had a busy week so far. Yesterday had an 12 and a half hour day to get five bands to play one song each. We had the Houston Press Music Awards last night at the Grande Casa de Rock and it was a busy one. 34 awards, 10 inductions into the hall of fame, a Memorial montage, 10 or 12 presenters and an MC, OH Yeah 5 bands. Jim was a busy boy.
I had a gig penciled in for this weekend, speedboat racing in Marble Falls, that I had to pass on because I hadn’t heard from them and the hippies needed to know if I was working with them this weekend. They called me about an hour ago, aargh I wanted that gig and it is 3.5x the $$$$, on the lake, speedboats, a nice hotel and girls in bikinis. AAAAAAAAARGH
The problem is Swampy is that the crazy always seems to be able to catch up to you.
I need to go feed the cats and walk HellPup. I piddled around too long and if I leave now I will be too early for HellPup but if I do the cats first I will be late for HellPup.
I skipped laundry yesterday, and I don’t feel much like doing it today. Maybe tomorrow.
Oh Em Gee!! The crabber we got this morning was a TALKER!!! Not only that, everyone else in the world is stupid and doesn’t know what they’re talking about. And politicians… and scientists… and the crabbers in Virginia… and on and on and on and on… I had to be rude and interrupt him to ask about his catch today (Horrible, tiny, not worth the gas he spent) - ok, yeah, and our gas shouldn’t cost more than 38 cents a gallon, according to him. Anyway, I was fiddling with the tablet and interrupted him again with “Sorry, but we’ve got to go meet another boat” - **FCD **was grateful. But what should have been a 2 minute transaction took about half an hour.
On the way home, we stopped at Salsa’s for lunch and at the veggie stand for corn and cukes. Then we played with our retirement spreadsheet. It’s been a fun afternoon!
Sadly, I had to close the house up. Stoopit heat and humidity!
**sari **- are you doing a DIY move or are you hiring a crew of well-oiled young studs?? Just wonderin’…
Well-oiled young studs sounds good to me. Of course I’ll have to take them all out for a test drive to make sure they are suitable. It’s a sweaty job but somebody has to do it.
Other than as a joke to try and get people to flip their ipad around to read it, it’s a bit annoying. And I used to set type and proofread. Yes, real metal type in an era before the term “desktop publishing” had been thought of.
Been trying to get some pricing for our hoped-for move. Anybody got a spare $11,000 they could give me? That’s the cost for PODS, where we supply all the labor. I don’t even want to think what boxes, tape and bubble wrap will cost, and I’m still waiting for “regular” movers to get back to me.
Well, that was fun! I just stenciled 5 towels and finished the stencil on a 6th. I still need to do an iron-on label on several of them, and let them sit a few days before I can iron the stencils to set them. I’m hoping to deliver them to the store on Firday.
Supper will be corn on the cob, 'maters, and maybe hot dogs, maybe sammiches, maybe just corn and 'maters. Indecision is the key to flexibility!
**gotti **- UHaul has their own version of Pods - have you priced them? I also saw another company advertising the same service, but I can’t recall the name. And, no, I don’t have $11K in loose change in my sofa… sorry.
