That one time I did post in one of his threads really bugs me (it was fairly recently, though, so maybe the pain will fade).
Not realizing what kind of thread I’d blundered into, I posted some mopey nonsense about male sexuality (having one of my moods at the time). As I said, mopey nonsense, but I thought it was fairly innocuous. Then **Linus **quotes it, and suddenly I look like a poster boy for some bonkers idea about men all being victimized and emasculated by nasty feminazis.
Um, not really what I meant. Trying to talk my way back to shore just made it worse. I swear, it was like some kind of kafkaesque nightmare.
That is probably my number one “drunk selfie that I hope no employer ever sees” moment of my posting career. And for me, that’s saying something. Please don’t look it up.
Don’t feel too bad about it. I think we’ve all experienced how he “interacts” with other people. If he can twist something into supporting his viewpoint, he will. If he can’t, well then he’ll ignore it.
I think his botness has just gotten old. I was looking at his new thread, thinking “Wait. Why would I take part in that?” rather than “Hey, I should correct these errors and explain things in the hope he will see what the problem is with his line of thinking/arguing.”
That old adage about how you can’t logic someone out of a position they didn’t logic themselves into applies here. He needs feminism as a bugaboo.
I’m fairly certain he has me on ignore. At least any direct questions I ask are ignored. I was wondering why, and then I remembered, oh yeah, I started his Pit thread.
I’m a little tardy in explicitly saying I endorse this pitting, but I want to say it anyway. JFC it’s awful. And then it brings out all sorts of nasty little critters to argue his tangential points. It’s not just that I disagree with everything that he types, but that he willfully ignores people and cherry picks. There are people here I disagree with wholeheartedly, but they post coherently and respond to critics. This is not one of those cases.
In his male sexuality thread, i asked a couple of questions to try to honestly clarify his statements. Ignored. I don’t know if he just has half the board on ignore or what.
I got “I have heard his work with Eminem, though he is not amoungst my favorite artists”.
Then I had a long conversation with Cleverbot about my childhood and philosophy, culminating in the inevitable cybersex. I hate it when that happens. I always feel so used in the morning.
This time I just saw “started by LinusK” and decided not to click. I assumed it would be about how feminism has to be horrible since there are even women who dislike it.
