I got my package last night, with no dopername inside.
I got a book, a cozy mystery, with some book beads to keep my place. Also some tea and a tea mug, and a little Buddha cat figurine. Thank you so much! I’m all set for a lazy day next week when my kids will be off with their grandparents and I’ll be home on the couch enjoying the quiet.
Does that mean I get two too? Cool!
Anyway, I got one from Anyrose today- it was an adorable little Christmas dog pin from Nature’s Jewelry. It’s adorable! Thanks so much!
Unfortunately I will not be able to go to the PO today. I will go tomorrow morning, after work.
BUT (there’s always a but, isn’t there), we’re moving over the next couple of days and apparently we will not have cable or internet until Monday! Ack! Why does my sister wait until the last minute to tell me these things? How am I going to survive a weekend with everyone in the house on vacation (3 adults, 2 teenagers, 1 kid) if I can’t kill things on WoW?
Anyway, If I survive the weekend, I’ll be back on Monday.
Hmm – if someone sent me mine already, and it was a book, could you please let me know? A package was opened here sometime last week and MrWhatsit now says he is not sure whether it was a BookMooch request or not.
Move me off the “waiting” bench to the “gifted” gang. Just moments ago, I heard a ca-thunk at the door, and looked out the window to see a man in brown running back to his truck. Shoving the doggies back into the foyer, I reached out on the step and snatched up a well-taped box. Very well-taped. I needed scissors. Good thing I had some!
Atop the foam peanuts was a custom-made card with a masked Santa on the front, and 2 doggies inside. (Is Rosie wearing a belt, a scarf, or a really skimpy tu-tu??) Under the peanuts was another box, which contained still more peanuts and and egg separator.
But not any ordinary egg separator. This one is a hand-made piece of pottery in blue with a really cool face detail, and a wide slit for a mouth through which one pours the egg white. I confess, one of the first things I thought when I looked at it - “I think I could make one of these!” - yeah, I’m always looking for new ways to play in clay. So I may be stealing the idea.
And I will most definitely get good use out of this. My sweetie loves lemon meringue pies, and for me, one of the worst (messiest) parts is the egg separation. That will no longer be an issue!
Thanks so much, KneadToKnow!! It’s a really clever little gift with a really cute face. I’ve been sliding my fingers all over the surfaces - I can feel where the potter’s fingers shaped the piece. I look forward to using it. After the holidays. I’m temporarily baked out.
Woo hoo, it arrived! (I was seriously worried - but it did arrive really fast, too!) I’m glad you like it, Anaglyph. The Chili pralines, by the way, are made by this woman, who has a small chocolate shop near Munich, and who makes pralines and crazy tortes. I once attended one of her praline-making seminars, and the Chili ones are the best pralines in existence…
No card/tag is to be found. MrWhatsit is appropriately apologetic and says he will try to figure out where he put it.
That having been said: Woo-hoo! The book is “75 Years of the Times Crossword” and as a Times crossword junkie, this is definitely a volume I will treasure. Part of the reason MrWhatsit thought it must have been a Bookmooch is that it is so clearly and obviously something I would get for myself.
Thanks, rocking chair! This is the best book I’ve ever received from anyone that I didn’t specifically request by title! Ya done good!
Okay, having wrested control of The Package from the aforementioned cat, I opened it. Inside was a wealth of packing materials (paper, packing peanuts, a styrofoam rectangle and some plastic bags). And also a plastic bag containing a gaily patterned gift bag, with a tag that reads “To: KAT From: VIVA :)”.
Inside the gift bag is a red envelope reading “KAT” sealed with a gold-bordered wreath sticker. The card inside has Santa carrying a sack of toys and a mini-Christmas tree and…
Well, all right, I’ll get to the present. Yes, I do this to people in real life, too.
It’s a very pretty card, though.
First gift from inside the gift bag…
I got an Electronic Robot Claw! With Sound And Light! It makes cool ray-gun sound effects!
We will now pause while Kat chases the cats down the hall with the Claw
Gift number two: In a little gift bag with a reindeer on it, from inside the big gift bag: Two Reese’s Peanut Butter Trees! Yay! (This is the best Christmas candy.)
Gift number three: Wrapped in blue gift wrap with white snowflakes: A 2008 Dragon wall calendar, by Ed Beard Jr. Awesome!
Thank you so much, Viva!
Er…The Claw is stuck. How do I shut it off? It keeps repeating the same noise over and over again, even though I’m not pulling the trigger any more. The cats are concerned. Help!
Ten points: it’s supposed to be a tu-tu. Getting the fabric tied around her waist was hard enough, I couldn’t even imagine trying to get it propery floofed. That was for a photo shoot I did with them last year for my ex-to-be’s laptop wallpaper. Sam’s wearing a red bow tie in case it didn’t show up too well.
I’m just glad it survived the trip, and I’m glad you like it! I’ll let my ex-to-be know: she suggested it.
