Was it the book I already mentioned? If so – I address my previous thanks to you! If not – I am going to pretend I didn’t read this post so that it will be a surprise when it shows up.
YAY! My Santa has arrived from somewhere hot 'n sandy!
I had a “sorry we missed you” slip on my door from DHL yesterday, so I signed it and put it back on the door before going out shopping at 6:00. When I got home at 7:30, it had been delivered! (Yay for leaving the husband and child at home!)
It was from dottygumdrop, and was immediately opened with great glee. (Since we’re flying out at 8:00 AM on Christmas day, there was no point in waiting.) The first thing I pulled out was the most hilarious looking stuffed camel I have ever seen. Her name is Sandy, and she’s got big pink lips, pink fluffy feet, a pink fluffy pom pom on her hait and a pink, yellow, and purple blanket on her back. I found a picture online here. Cracked me right up! The next thing out of the bag was a very cool set of nesting dolls, representing a family - dad, mom, daughter, son, and baby. And the last thing was a pair of very cool silver-tone dangly earrings with sparkly rhinestones. They’re kind of hard to describe, but I’ll try: The post has a rhinestone on it and one length of silver chain dangling from it with another rhinestone on the bottom. The back has three lengths of chain hanging down (longer than the one in the front), each with a rhinestone at the bottom. Very chic!
Thank you so much dottygumdrop! It totally made my day!
YAY! I’m glad you like it! I was having a hard time thinking of a book to send, so I searched for your most recent posts. I came across your posts in the crafter thread, and said “that’s what I’ll get!” And when I went to Michael’s it was all on sale for half off - so you got TWICE as much for the same price. Have fun and show us what you make, please!
Ok, here’s Friday’s update:

I’ll start going through and see who I can figure out hasn’t received, but I probably won’t have a complete update on that until after Christmas. I’m going to be out of town this weekend, so hopefully some more will show up.
Those of you who are waiting for shipments to send to your Santees, I’m sure it’s OK - just keep us posted.
Thanks!
Bear with me folks. Another update, more thorough, coming in ten minutes or so.
Eek, this is harder than it looks. OK, this should be a LOT more thorough. Please post if you belong on one of these lists and I haven’t included you. I’m slow like that. Thank you!

Not that it’s terribly important, but I haven’t received my gift – completely not a problem – and I’m leaving town this afternoon for a week. So if I don’t post again to say I got it today, then whoever was my sender, please know that I won’t see it until the 29th at the earliest.
I show your gift as having been sent, Jodi, so it might just show up today.
Well, wow. Once again, I ask for something local, and once again, my Secret Santa totally delivers. This year, all the goodness came from Topeka, Kansas. There’s just so much! A book on the history of Topeka, some sunflower-themed notecards (the sunflower being the state flower of Kansas - I learned something new!), chocolate-covered sunflower seeds, some postcards, a Christmas ornament depicting Grace Episcopal Cathedral, and an edition of the Topeka Capital-Journal. The newspaper is perhaps my favorite part of the whole gift (I’m only saying that because I haven’t tasted the sunflower seeds yet, though), because I always find it fascinating to read daily papers from around the world. What could be a better way to get an insight into daily life somewhere?
Thank you, Secret Santa! I’m going to have a Topeka-filled Christmas break this year.
Oh yeah, one question, though: how can you have ½ in an address??!
Dag nabit. My BF called to say I got my SS gift as it had my real name and my user name
But I am at work for another two hours and errands to run after that.
Man why did have to call and tell me. Now the suspense is killing me and will make my work day much slower.
But then again I got my gift so who ever my SS is I will open once I get home and report back post haste!
I am not one to normally use so many smiles but I am excited.
My gift has not shown up yet, but I am confident that it will be here soon.
I replied to freckafree’s announcement that she had received (but not yet opened) my package:
Mystery solved: her package to me arrived today! (Hey, I thought this was “round robin,” not pairs! Or was that the ornament exchange?)
Anyway, what a cool pile of stuff! (I have no self-control).
-
The world’s smallest roulette wheel, which she says “might come in handy at work – for budget planning, personnel decisions, etc.” (Dang, now my Magic 8-Ball is obsolete . . .)
-
A nifty Tinkertoy pen, with miniature Tinkertoys in the barrel that you can take out and play with. Man, the memories . . . I loved my Tinkertoys and Lincoln Logs when I was a kid, and I give them to little kids whenever I can. This is great!
-
An adorable little stuffed doggie with magnets on his feet. He’s hanging out on one of my swing-arm lamps, staring at me.
-
An assortment of fine Amish chocolates. (Well do I know of Amish delights, as we’re in the middle of Amish country ourselves! Mr. S and I will enjoy them muchly. I love the saying on the inside of the box: “So much chocolate, so little time.” So true!
-
A little stand-up block with a Bernese Mountain Dog on it, with his doghouse and greenery pictured behind him. Another canine supervisor! And another reason to clear off my messy desk and find a spot for him.
-
And a little gifty book titled “Bow Wow Tao: Wit, Wisdom, and Dogma” by Chu Toy. Ha! I love this kind of stuff!
Thanks so much, freckafree! It’s all perfect, and I love a grab bag. Now hurry up and open mine!!!
It was round robin for most people but a few people made special requests. With that in mind, a couple of pairs ended up exchanging, while most rotated.
When one house has two apartments in it, the main apartment can be the whole number, and the smaller(or maybe upstairs) apartment, will call itself by the number with a 1/2 added. Or it could just be A and B. It’s mainly a device to make it clear to the postman who gets which mail.
I’m glad you liked everything! It was so much fun shopping for you.
All right, all ready. ::Gets scissors::
Oh. My. God. **Scarlett67 **sent me an extravaganza of her handmade earrings! They are ALL just too faboo for words! Wow! (I’m a jewelry designer, too, and I’m gonna send you a pair of mine! I would have included them in your box, but your post didn’t mention jewelry, you sneaky thang!)
Also included:
Cool cookie sprinkles and Christmas candy corn
Ornament hangers (also handmade by Scarlett67)
And a gen-u-wine ™ Wisconsin pine cone.
Thanks so very much! I think I’m going to put the purple pair with the niobium ear wires on right now!
Yay! I’m glad you liked them too! I worried a little bit when, a day or so after I sent them, I came across a post where you mentioned you were a jeweler too. Oh no, will they be good enough? (And there I went explaining about the metals in them, etc., when you already knew all that stuff . . .)
I’d love to check out a pair of yours! I don’t usually ask for jewelry because I already have a butt-load (duh). But when people give it to me on a whim, I happily accept! (When I started making my own, I had to have a new rule about buying it: I’m only allowed to buy stuff that I either couldn’t (metalwork) or wouldn’t (intricate seed bead work) make myself. Unfortunately :D:D:D that usually leaves the really fancy stuff.) Every once in a while, Mr. S sorta surprises me with a really fabulous piece (in that he sees it, thinks I’d like it, and then asks me to make sure). A few years ago it was a really wild and crazy lampworked necklace. Last Christmas it was an awesome copper-disk choker from the Pyramid Collection catalog.
I was busy rushing out the door when I wrote my other post; forgot to add that your goodies were a really nice end to a frustrating week! Thanks again!
Yes. (Sorry - I didn’t see the other post until now). As I said there was a card in the package too - maybe your husband threw it away by mistake?
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the crosswords. And Merry Christmas!
MrWhatsit swears he doesn’t remember a card, but I shall continue to keep an eye out for it. Regardless, thanks a skrillion! As I mistakenly told rocking chair, this was absolutely perfect for me! Very excellent gift sleuthing on your part.
Sent!
It’s a small pile next to some of the ones here, but it’s off. I hope my giftee likes what I sent, but I’ve never done this before and wasn’t sure how to go about the shopping bit. Nonetheless, my part is over.
Reporting back. The package came and was damaged in two places but nothing inside was hurt.
I got a mini Fisher Price Magna Doodle that is already on the fridge. There was also some choxie chocolates that look really tasty and a bag of cashew cranberry almond trail mix blend. There was also a small Christmas bag to hold it all.
Thanks so much tarragon918
